  1. You're right. We haven't won anything these last 4 years. Because, that is enough to say that things haven't been 'working out' Oh, but we have won the division in all those 4 years. Oh, and we've been to the WS twice. You?
  2. Remember the time Boston didn't win shit for 86 years? I do.
  3. I say 'we' like I am a part of their fanbase, gaylord.
  4. When Wells became a FA he called and practically begged Cashman to take him on. We said nah. Before signing with the Mets, Beltran called the Yanks offering to sign for 99 million. 20 million less than the Mets gave him. We are God. We don't play by the rules. We make them.
  5. Show me where I said anything about Pedro not being good next year. He'll be in the top THREE in Cy Young voting this season. And guess what, homey? It's STILL overpaying. Even the Mets themselves say it. In fact, everyone is saying it. Wright and Pavano are unproven? Show me what Benson has proven in his oh so illustrious career. Wright was the ace of the Atlanta staff last year. He won 15 games and had a 3.15 ERA. Quick, show me Benson's #'s last year. Pavano won 18 games and had an ERA of 3.00 Were Pedro's numbers better than that? RJ won sixteen games(for the worst team in MLB), had an ERA of 2.60 Bottom line, Pavano and Wright would've gotten paid the same elsewhere if we didn''t sign them. You can't say other teams would've given Pedro and Benson the same money the Mets gave them.
  6. OMG SOOO FUNNAY! Excuse me while I catch my breath after laughing so fucking hard. Quick! Call her BIG STUFF again! because it was funny the first 2134 times you said it, you choade chomping cum cylinder. I bet you don't even pop your collar. God, you're pathetic.
  7. LAUGHHHHHHHH Overpay for pitching, you say? lamaaaoooooo Hello Kris Benson. Ring a bell? Only team willing to give FOUR FUCKING YEARS to Pedro. Remember? btw, that pitching that we 'overpaid' for just happens to include the best pitcher in the game today. When committing that much money to pitchers, we usually prefer that their ERA's be closer to 3, not 4. And that they not have sub .500 records. What was Benson' ERA last year? His record?
  8. Actually, I'm not too sure if the Mets' rotation is better than Boston's Schilling Clement Wells Miller Arroyo Schilling's better than Pedro. Clement's stuff is awesome. Wells and Glavine had similar numbers last year(I think) Wells won more games. Miller can be very good when healthy. Who knows what pitcher they're getting in Zambrano this year. Trachsel is better than Arroyo. Oh, and the Mets' bullpen is awfull.
  9. Congrats on paying a player 17 mil a year who's not even among the top 15 players in the game. Also, how does it feel to know that he was willing to sign with the Yankees for 19 million less?
  10. 'the downfall of CP was because of the moving of Promo threads' I consider myself to be in a good mood today, so I'll hold back alittle. First of all, warning on the use of words like 'downfall of CP' Second, your notion that CP went to shit because of the LACK of promo threads is hilarious. Your suggestion to call moo at NJGUIDO is equally funny. The CP messageboard routinely has 300 or so members and guests logged on at any given time. NJG , in comparison, has around 50. At best. Third, I won't repudiate the fact that this board is shit. However, I won't get into specifics, for I simply do not give a crap. Fourth, johnholmes, you are simply the most dull and jejune personality to have ever graced this forum. Every couple of months or so, you'll log in to CP to post some shitty thread about '4realhousediva' or some other equally unfunny shit bashing a club or promo team. Seriously, nobody fucking cares. Call her 'BIG STUFF' somewhere else. I hate the obese too, but come up with something funny, for Christ's sake.
  11. I never even said that, you filthy twat. See, I don't say 'cunt' I say twat.
  12. lllllllllllllllllllllllllloll I used to always say that
  13. I wonder if he'll make it. I heard there was a big accident by there tonight.
  14. See, j knows whats up. Also, nomembername, will you please not ever post to me again? GODAMMIT, you can be so fucking corny sometimes I want to punch you right in the face.
  15. That wouldn't be something similar to what we, here at the Department of Environment and Land, commonly refer to as, an island, now, would it?
  16. Oh, and the Yankees do? Everyone? Really? I'm not sure what the length was, though I forgot.
  17. Is your name Tatoo? Do you see stars right now? 'Cuz I swear you're living on fantasy island right now. Kris Benson was the contract that started all the trouble, inflating the price for every middle-of-the-rotation free-agent right-hander who followed. The Mets never should have traded for Benson in the first place. By re-signing him, they were personally responsible for Eric Milton asking for so much. Benson is a career under-achiever and even at, 10 years older, no cartilage, right arm chopped off and only able to see out of one eye, RJ is 100X the pitcher Benson is. See you in the WS. I'm sure you'll be very comfortable with Kris fucking Benson on the mound pitching game 7.
  18. I'm absolutely certain the Yankees outbid the Sox. I just don't know by how much. I think Boston's offer was 7 years for 75 million.
  19. Another thing about Varitek: Anyone remember Charles Johnson? He's very similar to Jason Varitek. He was asking for 10 mil a year a few years ago, and ended up signing a long term deal with Florida, giving them a hometown discount, averaging 6 million a season. This contract is the same thing, and the same mistake. Loria had to pay the Rockies, all of Johnsons salary in the end, just so he had a 40 man roster to sit on. How come when the Red Sox overpay for someone, it's good business? When the Yankees do it, they are the evil empire
  20. IMO, its ok to overpay a player who is the BEST at his position, but not some mid level type player.
  21. I know he's better and younger and may be one of the top 5 ss in the game. but he still got grossly overpaid. even Boston columnists are saying it. haha its kind of funny how if the Sox overpay for someone 'its ok with me' is what you say. But if the Yanks do it, all hell breaks loose. its cool though. The thing is this: All teams are overpaying. Everyone. The market is inflated. Its like 2000 all over again.
  22. How about Renteria? He wasn't exactly great last year. Unless, of course, the Sox thought they were paying him for '03 Renteria was 16th in OBP for his position, in between Izturis and Crosby. He was 12th in slugging for his position, in between Furcal and Clayton. I've been saying it all along -- Renteria was going to be overpaid if he got $10M per year or $8M per year
