  1. it depends where he plays i think. i heard him at big clubs and he will play commercial (but not total crap). i heard him once at dance ritual at vinyl and he was magesticly deep ... so all in all, it depends where he plays and who's on the dancefloor.

ps: i don't think i ever heard him play dnb though so you'll have to get more details out of exit24e

  2. many thanks to you for the link.

thanks to the rest of you for the help too.

I also want to thank my agent for believing in me all those years: john we made it!, all the people at club planet: you rock! thanks for everything, all the poster on this tread: without you none of this would have been possible....

  3. as crazy as it sound, the club itself is nice...remind me of palladium for some reason...well, that roof situation is scary. the couple of times i was there i was always scared the first floor balcony would collapse (it was vibrating because of the bass).

now, it has to be said that the nights they have there are a complete joke, and a bad tourist trap at best.

  4. If I were a DJ in that particular case, I would feel weird and annoyed that no is one dancing, just staring...

well, junior vasquez used to be famous about getting pissed at starers. check out the documentary 'hang the dj' where he cut one of his night short because some dude's staring at him like a nutcase and he gets pissed...funny moment.

  5. the sound system is amazing (Gary Stewart Audio) hooked it up with 4 big stacks one in each corner sitting on a nice size dance floor.

The DJ is equally taken care of with modified everything, from the kick ass monitors to the 3 Technics MK 5's fitted w/SME 309 tone arms and 2 modified Urie's.

One Urei is used just to send effects to the House Urei via various effect processors. There are DopeReal isolators in front of each turntable and the same applies to the 3 Technics SL-DZ 1200 CD players.

ok, you win, i am close to wetting my pants.

  6. [04/01/05 - Friday] | Sasha & John Digweed @ Crobar

this one is going to be amazing and amazingly crowded.

Also, if you're into deep house, you should check out Shelter with Timmy Regisford. I don't think the night is very famous overseas but it's the NY fixture for Deep House (ala morales/vega/knuckles). They go late in the morning on sunday so you can consider that afterhours (5am-not sure when they close).

Joe Claussell stops by sometimes, they have the folks of Blaze there often...very ny underground house.

On Mondays you have to check out Francois K at Cielo for his deepspace night (it won tons of awards, it's very good). It's very open musically so you and your friend should be cool www.deepspace-nyc.com

  7. I dunno about you guys, but just because the DJ is in an elevated(usually) booth, doesn't mean he is a god. I go there to hear the music, feel the vibe, and dance. These aren't rock concerts. :bounce:

the dj's my bitch! work those beats and make me dance! .... just joking :)

  8. Who the fuck cares if theres a picture on the flyer or not, seriosuly?

I love flyers! I think some of them are great. I even collect the one I find really beautiful (like the serie made for B&S back in '01 I think: beautiful pics, or the deep space ones) or interesting conceptually (I love the Jr's birthday@discotheque) or plain funny (like the 3dollar of twilo or the dt/aviance clubzilla star wars)...

So as you see: I care about what's on the flyer.

Listen, some people care, some don't. But really there's no need for you to come here and disregard an interest I and others have and you don't.

  9. Well, since nowadays party-goers are not faithfull to a specific promoter or club anymore, but to dj-s, it only make sense to advertise them as much as possible.

I am not sure it's a great thing either. I am not going to comment on the stare-at-the-dj phenomenon (tragic) but it's a consequence of this. I miss the days of crazy themes parties where it was about *us* and not only the dj.

  10. and they are going to have rock n roll nights.

nyc afterhours is gone forever i guess, at least like it was.....

    :hang:

The rock crowd can be a lot of fun, I don't know what you are talking about. Did you ever go to Motherfucker? As much as I am into the house afterhours scene, this party is what's happening. Their crowd's just the best in NYC, hands down!

  11. exciting news!

I would love to be able to hear a good sound system in this city again...my fav used to be twilo and vinyl (vinyl, not arc) ; then there was nothing around except for the shelter one (old twilo tweeked) but I'm not really a Shelter-head...

So now with spirit getting a good system back in, and hopefully this one, that would be 3 good sound systems in the city....good sign of things to come I hope.
