  1. i mean, im not trying to hate or nething, but half the venues in new york have a custom built system... you dont see steve dash requesting his name be tagged on to every club he tweaked the sound two... as far as distinguishing the two, i think the type of crowd that goes to Stereo #2 would know, just by looking at the flyer, which one it is, and the crowd at Stereo #1 wouldnt know who Angel Moraes is so it makes no difference to them.... whatever, i guess im looking too much into it haha.... without a doubt though, LES is a great booking and i hope to see more like that because this new Stereo seems to not have the right idea on how to be successful in New York, ive been there once (a few weeks after opening) and it was pretty empty, and sad.... the venue is capable of so much more, and whoever had the money and resources to invest in opening the club should have put their money and resources in bringing bigger talent in the first few months to get it going, but they didnt... LES is a good step up, and good luck with it :-)
  2. "stereo by angel moraes".... it seems like hes more of an ego-maniac than he is someone who knows how to run a club.... they need to re-evaluate their business strategy.... not hating on this party, if anything, this is the first indication that theyre trying to do better, bringing in outside promoters who know how to work it.... so good luck and lets hope we see more of this!
  3. ohhh okay then, didnt know that... still however, the deal theyre getting for pacha probably for a 4pm-12am party, i think plenty of profit/proceeds could be made with 20-25 admission, but thats just me... woulda checked it out, but its a bit steep... good luck though!
  4. 35$ dollars?..... wow, i love the vibe theyre giving off, thats a good way to make sure a new generation doesnt spread to the deep house scene
  5. wow howd he get that gig, he doesnt compare to any of the names in that stage, production and DJ-wise... some DJs just get so lucky
  6. hope some of u come out tomorrow nite! all u tech and trance heads better be there!
  7. more like... If you like {big name tribal DJ}, you'll like {9 out of 10 NYC DJs, cos they're all tribal}... that's turning into the case for minimal tech and commercial electro as well though, slowly but surely
  8. its going to be an amazing party guys, hope you can make it! whatever your tastes are, there ALL here for one night all together (including timmy regisford and sting, for you deep house heads for afterhours, included in the price, obviously!), so please come and support, the success of this party is what will make it continue to be a monthly party, bringing the biggest names (and yet, not too often in new york) in the tech and trance scenes from all over the globe.... bring all your friends....
  9. MAIN FLOOR MARTIN ROTH http://www.martinroth.net :: Vandit :: Lunatique :: Overdose :: Connected DJs Martin Roth's ascent through the ranks of trance music's biggest stars has been somewhat meteoric. In the past year and a half, his remixes for Paul Van Dyk on "The Other Side", Thrillseekers on "By your Side", Keane's "Last Time", Tillman Uhrmacher on "The Pride In Your Eyes", Jose Amnesia vs. Serp's "Second Day", Chakra's "Love Shines Through", Blank & Jones on "Perfect Silence", "Catch", and "Mind of the Wonderful", Marninx on "Intuition", as well as the upcoming remixes for DJ Eco's soon-to-be-released EP with "Paradise Now" and "Light At The End" have all pricked the ears of every major DJ, A&R guru and trance music follower across the globe. The thirty one year old Frankfurt based DJ/producer made his breakthrough in the trance scene over two years ago with a remake of Cygnus X's classic track "The Orange Theme", receiving huge coverage from the major DJs. Around the same time, Paul Van Dyk discovered Martin's track "Energize", released under the project name Technopunk and remixed it for his own label Vandit, resulting in a huge amount of interest in Martin's productions. Martin was then asked by Paul to remix another track Jose Amnesia vs. Serp's "Second Day" for his Vandit which went on to become another successful release. Promos of Martin's single "Shockwaves" on his own label Lunatique Records received huge responses from the leading DJs and Martin's reputation as a seriously consistent producer continued to build. Behind the DJ booth, the same natural talent is purveyed. Using a combination of vinyl, CD decks and the revolutionary Ableton Live software allows Martin to blur the borders between DJing and live performances, creating a unique experience for the crowds who travel to see him perform. But Martin isn't such a newbie as you might think. If you dig a little deeper you'll find the man behind many successful projects under many different aliases spanning many genres confirmed his great versatility as an artist and accumulating over quarter of a million vinyl sales over the past decade. Fans of harder edged music will remember Martin as one of the key elements in the global success of German label and Scot Project associated concept Overdose Recordings, where Martin achieved admirable success under aliases including DJ Wag, Y.O.M.C, DJ Overdog and Yakooza. With his own name now set as his main pseudonym firmly established as hot future trance phenomenon, Martin is looking forward to great success in 2006 and 2007 with UK DJ performances already lined up for superclubs including Godskitchen, The Gallery and Passion and international tours in Australia, across Asia, North America and across East & Central Europe the future looks very promising for trance's man of the moment. Number two DJ in the world Armin Van Buuren says of Martin, "Ever since I got a bootleg mix of Keane I've been a big fan of Martin's sound. It's still trance but for grown ups. A big sound for big floors!" Paul Van Dyk, the world's number one DJ says, "Martin Roth is one of the few German artists with a continuous output of the highest level of creativity" DJ ECO (opening set) http://www.myspace.com/djeco :: Lunatique :: Monoceros :: Strobe Life NYC TIMMY REGISFORD (afterhours from 4AM-noon) http://www.clubshelter.com :: Club Shelter NYC THE BASS.MENT (hosted by Massive NYC) RYAN TYAS http://www.ryantyas.com :: People NYC DEEPSPELL http://www.deepspell.com :: People NYC CHRIS LUZZ http://www.chrisluzz.com Club Shelter NYC aka The Standard 150 Varick Street (take the C, E, and A-after-10 trains to Spring St. or the 1 train to Houston) 18+ to enter/21+ to drink Doors from 10PM until noon $20 online tickets/$25 at the door ONLINE TICKETS AVAILABLE. 12. relaxxxxx... altho i do agree with you somewhat, i like the ratio to be kept to 90%new/10%old... i always like to have at least one or two tracks per 2 hours that i know well
  13. had a great time, music was so on point, KU played awesome.... got a little nervous with the lack of any vibe at all early on, with the corporate looking crowd haha but as it hit midnight and 1, i saw the beatfreaks coming in little by little.... really nice venue, it was my first time theer, i was pleasantly surprised... cant wait til next week :-)

  19. About Into The Wire Into The Wire is Eco's new show, an offshoot of his very successful show Strobe Life Sessions. Into The Wire is everything Strobe Life Sessions isn't. ITW is a steady progression from the more forward-thinking sounds in electronica, eventually reaching the energetic dancefloor pounders as the three hours go on. Expect to hear a mashup of everything electronic... Into The Wire, anything goes. www.AFTERHOURS.fm
  20. not to mention, look at Markus Schulz himself.... his productions are the biggest range from funky housed out vocals to tech-electro BOMBS to straight up trance hymns.... theres so many Markus Schulz's in the trance scene too, thats the thing, crossing genre after genre with their productions.... now look at whos big in the tribal/house scene now.... lets take Austin Leeds... espsecially lately, he just uses a formula and sticks to it, and sure, theyre good songs but what level of originality do they have other than reusing whatever was this year's proven successful house/tribal style.... take an Armin or Tiesto production CD for example... everything from chillout to industrial to techno to trance to prog to everything... the ability to cross genres is something i myself strive for, and THAT shows true musical talent
  21. Markus is so right.... my whole crew, we're all trance fans, die-hard... but ask us how excited we are for DJ Vibe this Friday and we'll tell you, we'll ALL BE THERE... i can find a similar state of trance listening to the drums and atmospheres that a GOOD house DJ can bring, however, mention "trance" to a predominantly house fan and theyll say "thats cheesy emotional crap".... most of these have never been to a really good trance show (which there are many)... most of these people dont know the variety of music that is played at these trance shows (whereas at a Boris or so-and-so NYC DJ night, people express their "omg!'s" at the DIFFERENT types of house that particular DJ might have played, check out every trance event in New York and you very same people may be dumbfounded).... most poeple may remember PVD playing "dark beat" over a heavy schranz techno beat at Roxy last year.... most people may remember Armin Van Buuren playing "till there was you" at Spirit a year and a half before every house DJ started playing it at your local club.... people dont understand that the music at "trance" events is so diverse, and such an up-and-down adventure, that most of the haters out there WOULD REALLLLLY ENJOY THEMSELVES IF THEY WENT TO MORE THAN ONE (more than one, so you dont base your full generalized opinion based on one party, every event is so different).... i think enough people agree with what im saying, in this city, because every trance event i go to seems to be packed.... im glad for that because its packed with people that understand the music... there doesnt need to be a "theme" or a dance performance or show by dancers, or a fun flyer, or even too many battles and circles and this and that... people know the musical adventure theyre embarking on when they go to a PVD night or Armin or Ferry night, so make fun of us for raising our hands during the breakdown of an emotional trance tune, but, at the end of the day, were really feeling that spiritual thing called music... very few people at a Boris or JP or NYC house DJ event can say the same... many of them are there to be there, or because theyre whole area of their whole borough is there, and sure, it may be packed, but think again, because i think theres such a low vibe at every house event im at, and the complete opposite at every trance event im at.... first time i saw PVD, he opened with tracks by D Ramirez and a remix by Timo Maas of a song called "new york" and the Randy KAtana remix of "rising angel"... and the average NYC house head missed it though because "PVD is too much of that emotional trance garbage" according to them, but had their favorite NYC house DJ been playing it, they would be saying "he ripped it sickkkkkkkkkk" the next morning.... think about it
  22. i also forgot to mention the pretty big trance (mostly psytrance) underground... i say "underground" because it is very underground, in the truest sense of the word.... its a "email us for directions" basis and ive been hearing some of these biweekly parties have been making waves.... i dont see any house underground, THAT seems pretty dead, with the exception of one or two clubs here and there
