Its been all down hill since 7, when they started making the characters more 'life-like'. The storylines became more convoluted and ..quite frankly, weak as well.. Magic sucked in VIII and on because the animations for all the spells that could actually do good damage (the junctions or whatever they called them) would take like 20 years each to play out, so you ended up sitting there for 90 percent of the battle watching the same idiotically long magic sequence over and over..FF III was the pinnacle in my opinion, followed closely by VII (because of innovations in magic and skill learning).. Dragon Warrior was weak, actually the whole series was weak. Zelda was technically an adventure game...Sorry, but nobody had the quality of production, the storytelling ability or the style of Squaresoft..
