Recommended Posts

if you live in Eastern Long Island, then you've got to tune in to the radio station Party 105.3 on Tuesday's from 9-11 pm. Party 105 just recently started the first Long Island based hip-hop show called "Block Radio" and they play the best music out there! DJ Smooth Denali from The TurnTable Assassins spins only the best.... plus the show is funny as hell... so check it out, you won't be dissappointed!:hat:

First of all I thought this website was about Nightlife on Long Island, not the "Hip-Hop" sucks website, if you people have a problem with the fact that i'm simply giving people who DO like hip-hop some information... you know what you can do. If the fact that there's a new hip-hop SHOW (not station!) bothers you that much, if it's the biggest problem in your life that you MUST curse me out over it... then you're extremely lucky that it's the only problem you have... Second... music is aobut expression of self and unity within cultures, stop being so close minded to the world around you. Regardless of what you may think, hip-hop is THE MOST listened to genre of music IN THE WORLD!!! And that is statistically proven. I don't only like hip-hop, i listen to everything from NOFX, Blondie, Diana Ross to Eminem, Buju Banton, & Elvis Presley... So open your minds and expand your horizons... Once people learn how to treat eachother and not CURSE THEM OUT the minute they don't like something... people might actually learn to get along... i've said my peace, write whatever you want, i'm not checking this post anymore because, quite frankly, i'm too busy for this immaturity. Thank you :D

First of all, the reason your getting this type of response is because typically nightclubs have always been associated with house music. Being that this is a 'nightclub' message board, most of the people on here tend to prefer dance music over hip hop.

In my opinion...

Hip Hop is like a disease that is spreading like widfire.

It is bad enough that hip hop has pushed it's way into nyc lounges adn small clubs that were once exclusively house music. now crowds are mixed, and DJ's are forced to abandon their personal styles and play half hip hop and half house to cater to these crowds. the so called mega-clubs are some of the only venues left that play strictly dance music. hip hop is taking over and slowly 'infecting' all the places where house music once reigned supreme. hip hop needs to find its own radio stations, and its own clubs - because it is quickly depleteing an already struggling house scene.

Oh great...hip hop.

:blown:

Listen...no more hip hop is needed out here on long island. There are enough wanna-be gangsta little shit balls running around out here. Dont hype 'em up anymore than they are already. Stick with the house music. Its not like party NEEDS this show. Shit...i know 3/4 of the DJ's on there, all good people, good enough music to forget your in bumblefuck long island. Give them the Air time they deserve.

That's actually not a bad response, lol. I can see you don't like being cursed at! :)

Hip Hop (at least maintstream hip hop) changed from an actual art form into absolute garbage. It's one of the most listened-to genres of music now because of all of the bullshit it represents and portrays. I don't like making stupid, half-assed generalizations about something as diverse as a particular genre of music, but the majority of rappers out there right now, on television, making millions of dollars, rap about meaingingless, mindless, senseless bullshit - I can't believe they get paid as much as they do for that shit. And one can easily say, "well they must be doing something right, becuase they're making millions off of it." The only thing they're doing right is continuing the downward spiral that hip-hop has been on. The culture of hip hop itself has been tainted, and has become dirtied by unwanted hands.

Hip Hop caters to a completely different audience right now. I mean, it's good to see that it has finally reached the masses, but unfortunately, it's lost its quality in the process.

There still exists the underground rap culture that will never die, and at least there is still some hope for hip hop in that way. Good talent is just too hard to market without some bullshit behind it, or some big name in the video. There has to be something for suburbia to sink its teeth into, and unfortunately, that something sure as hell isn't talent.

As for 105.3's house music past, I will never forget the afterhours show that MattM20 helped to put together with Dj Rob James every Saturday night. That show was, by far, the nastiest house music radio show on the Island.

These people actually pay the station for Air Time, it's not a show programmed by the management of the radio station. You too can do the same thing.

While I was at Party 105 We had Webster Hall Radio, Sound Factory Sessions (A Live Broadcast From Sound Factory), Diesel Groove Radio; These were all shows that were paid for. Anyone that wants to buy a few hour block of time can do the same thing. If you buy an hour of time and plat the Chicken Dance Song for an hour, so what it's your show!

As for Mix Shows when I was there I personally hosted Live Broadcasts, and Mixes from the likes of Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez, Paul Oakenfold, Chris Cox & Bary Harris of Thunderpuss, Paul Van Dyk, George Acosta, Sasha, John Digweed, Ferry Corsten, MJ Cole etc etc

Not to mention the weekly shows I used to host with local DJ's like Razor & Guido, Justin Time, KC Anderson, Richie Jones, Jason Ojeda, Motomo 315, and Rob James, but those days are long gone there!

Hey rudeboyyouth, I totally agree with you. I think with hiphop it is pick and choose as it is with any music. I think most of the hiphop dj's just play the same crap. It is hard to tell them apart because they all play the same records. And the commercialism dictates this mutation of dj's and artists all spittin the same shit. I won't support today's mass of hiphop till I can see that the art is back not just big bank accounts.
