CHRles
Congrats to Markus Schulz! Amazing entry into the Top 40, almost Top 30 Awesome to see Christopher Lawrence all the way up at number 7. America's premiere Trance DJ is very well represented here I'm not surprised to see Paul Van Dyk at the top - it's been a long time coming The consistent and overwhelming popularity of Trance DJs like Tiesto, PVD, and Armin has had a good effect on the sets of Progressive DJs like John Digweed, Dave Seaman, and Nick Warren - instead of leaning on slow and boring Tech-House, they're playing more melodies, and more upbeat tunes in their sets, reminiscent of old school Progressive variety. A lot of the more melodic friendly Progressive DJs were listed - Hernan, Digweed, Markus, Holden, Gabriel & Dresden, Max Graham, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, and the Flash Brothers. The only surprise here is that Sander Kleinenberg hasn't broken into the Top 10 yet.
ambs
gotta love ATB at number 13....i personally find this one of the worst top 100's i've seen... I expected much better really... although props to markus for moving up so immensly since last year!
Bling
look at 6 and 7 soooooooo not deserving of those high spots.........
CHRles
Bling, Christopher Lawrence is very deserving of his high spot. Okay, I'm confused - I see on one board that Paul Van Dyk is ranked first, and I see here and on trance.nu that Tiesto has stayed at the top. Which is it? CHRles
This was also the most unbiased Top 100 poll yet. All throughout the 90s there was a strong lean and preference for British DJs since DJ Mag is based out of England and therefore most voters were from the UK.This time around the top 10 slots represent Holland (Tiesto, Armin, Ferry), the UK (Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold), America (Christopher Lawrence, Deep Dish), Germany (PVD), and even Argentina (Cattaneo). More of the same from 11-20: UK (Cox, Jules, Zabiela, Tall Paul, Howells), Holland (Kleinenberg, Marco V.), Germany (ATB), America (Sanchez), Italy (Benassi). And yet again from 20-30: UK (Lawler, Halliwell, Andy C., Lisa Lashes), America (Morillo, Dan), Germany (Liebing), Italy (Picotto), Holland (Gielen, Lady Dana))

CHRles
It means that these are the most popular DJs in the world according to people who frequent Dance clubs, and according to people who listen to Dance music at home. This survey is not about record store workers and smalltime DJs ranking the top DJs, but about people - tens of thousands of them, who do the voting.Bling, it's great and all that you love Armin so much, just like I can say Digweed is my favorite DJ, but there is just no way Armin or Digweed are anywhere nearly as popular as Tiesto. He's the only DJ EVER to have his artist album go top 10 in several countries. In fact, he stayed in the top 5 and top 10 for months over in Holland and Belgium on the albums Sales chart. Now I don't know how well you know about Album Sales, but you rarely see any Dance albums sell as well as Rock, Hip Hop, or Teen Pop. Tiesto achevied that. In fact, he's currently got 2 albums in the Top 30 in Holland, which is unheard of:http://www.planet.nl/planet/show/id=82349/sc=d09793/sc=dc2fd92 albums that are top 50 in Belgium:http://www.scarlet.be//ultratop/en/weeklistsen.html?hitlist=UTALBUMSVLAnd Philippo, DJ Tiesto is Top 5 in Greece on the Albums Chart:http://www.ifpi.gr/chart01.htmBling, in addition to that Tiesto is the only DJ to do a solo concert with so many people. This year he had to do 3, and they all sold out in minutes! There is no other that comes close to Tiesto in terms of popularity.
