*need* to get out of the city

Recommended Posts

Okay, all seriousness here folks. No jokes please or offers of "You can come stay at my place baybeh!" Please. <grins>

I need to get out of the city. Badly. I love NYC but I'm starting to get that real horrible itch for a view that's unobstructed by lights, buildings and concrete. Ya know...tunnel syndrome.

I'm posting because, money is REAL tight right now. I'm soon to be unemployed. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for cheap bed and breakfasts/cabins/hotels ANYTHING a train ride away.

Something nice, quiet, secluded, with a hell of a lot of trees please.

If I could, I'd go somewhere warm but that's financially not an option. <whimpers>

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Oh, and by get out I mean soon. Like within the next two weeks. Preferably for a weekend since the week will be occupied by job hunting.

Thanks!

Just itchi_gami and Carabee came. We had to leave at 7 cause <blushes> a private party came in. So if anyone else showed later...I'm sorry!!!

I just really need some time with trees. <laughs> I'm a tree-hugger at heart.

Someplace with a fireplace too would be nice and a great view of stars is required. I'm not overly picky at this point ;-)

I'll take any suggestions you can give.

thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion but...

The heart shaped bed, champagne glass shaped jaccuzzi, and Andre Cold Duck champagne just don't do it for me.

Keep em' comin' though please. And I'm carless so I'd have to be able to get there by train...unless someone wants to donate a car to my cause. Check payable to: Save Ooana's Sanity Foundation.

Short train ride to Albany area is cool. My roomate is from up there, he knows the area well. Actually, he drives back every weekend to spend the weekend with his girlfriend so you can hitch a ride with him, no train!

There's lots of bed breakfast, the horse race track is up there, there are lakes, woods, etc.

AIM me for my #, I can give you more details.

Ooana & Noiseboy,

I just moved here from the midwest last summer & I feel your pain. I'm probably not as sick of the city as you two are (cause I'm still lovin' it every day) but being able to look a couple miles in the distance without friggin buildings in your way is nice. Miss driving a car too. I don't know any places to get away from things, but I've noticed people are trying to set up ski trips on the board. It's the season.

Good luck O smile.gif

Lets do it! We'll find a way...must must must must. I'll bring the hot co-co, you bring Arcadia and we're in business.

I'm serious here...gotta get the hell out of Manhatten before the city gets under my pink anymore than it already has and I start randomly twisting the heads off pigeons.

Niagra Falls would be fun at this time of the year. A little chill, but there are clubs, a massive casino and of course, the Falls which are spectacular! About a nine hour train ride, but you could take a 45 min flight to buffalo for the same price as the train.

Good luck

been thinking of doin some camping lately. i normally like to wait until early spring but i just got a brand new sub-zero sleeping bag so it's all good. in line with that there's always skiing. looks like i'm not gonna make the trip they're planning cause PVD is that weekend. but a nice ride to the mountains for the weekend with half a dozen people or so sounds good. if ya don't ski just sit by the fire and get drunk. i live an hour outside the city, bout 15 minutes from the Delaware River so i don't really have this problem. let me know if i can help ooana. i can always pick you guys up and take you for a scenic ride then drop your asses back off, hehe. btw, it was nice meeting you Saturday. sorry it wasn't such a good night for ya.
