  1. one of the people that really brought this board together back when it all again. By that I mean, she organized many of the first meet-ups at and outside of clubs. She really got along with everybody and everybody loved her back. I really haven't been reading boards the last couple of years, but it seems as tho these boards are getting bigger and there is less sense of community than before. Casey really fostered that sense of community. Thanks again Casey, and love to Mitch as well. -Dennis
  2. We miss you! You were pure, lovely, and a great friend. You've touched many of us and we will never forget you. Love, -Dennis
  3. I missed it... Did anyone tape it? Thanks!
  4. Respect. Miss ya Casey. Thanks for watching over us. Hugz, -Den
  5. Casey, I know you're out there smiling down upon us, watching over us as you did before. Thank you for everything. Our paths crossed for a reason. Much love to Mitch and the Cho's. Miss ya Casey... -Dennis p.s. - Though it might not be at lunchtime, I'll have a shot of Petrone with ya.
  6. check out Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff, also know as Way Out West, at Vinyl on Saturday. These guys are some of the best producers around. You will probably recognize their tracks Stealth, The Fall, and most recently, Intensify. Nick Warren has also done several Global Underground albums: GU003: Prague GU008: Brazil GU014: Budapest GU018: Amsterdam Check it out at www.globalunderground.co.uk Nick Warren also often played at Twilo...
  7. I got a promo copy a while back, so I dunno if they have changed anything into the final release. Anyways, it follows the self proclaimed "fat lads" from Global Underground on their jaunts around the world. It really gives you a good feeling as to why this is the GLOBAL underground...you see how international this type of music is. Like dfresh said, nice clips of Tenaglia, Seaman, Sasha, Pappa, Emerson, and others... Definitely pick it up...
  8. Marcus and Dominique rewl... That phat cats of Plant Saturdays at Centro Fly. These guys rawk...I might check it out just for them...
  9. Dee, Andy, Steve, Regina...wow... Old skewl CP reunite! Maybe we'll get to meet some of u nuskewlers too... You guys got a meetup going or somethin? We used to do 3am by the Powerbar... Ah the memories...
  10. Made Events at Vinyl. This Saturday, Jan 26 Danny Howells starts his monthly residency with special guest Ashley Casselle! Sat Feb 9th Rematch between Lee "Terrible Tyrant" Burridge and Twilo resident Jimmy "Badass Bedrock" Van M Two great parties, hope to see ya there...! -Den
  11. Yeah, the Howeller has been rawkin' it at Vinyl of late. This monthly is gonna be nice, bringin' new rekkids ever time. The best thing about Howeller is how diverse he is. You can't pigeonhole him as tribal, progressive, trancey, techy, or breaky, cuz he incorporates all into his sets.
  12. Glowgirl...that sounds like a fantastic lineup. 1) But really...is it really worth it to hear these artists play 1 hour sets? I dunno, I wouldn't have much fun. 1 hour is like, 5 or 6 records. I'd rather go hear Marcus and Dominique tear it up on 4 dex at Centro, where they can play for 4 hours on residents night. Or Halo and Hippe play at Centro or Vinyl for 4 or 6 hours. Or Felix da Housecat do it proper at Centro for 4 hours. That way, these dj's can have time to put together a set, not just throw on a few anthems. Just my preference, I guess. I'm interested in knowing what is good about events like these... 2) On the other topic, Luis Diaz really did open up for PVD at Twilo almost every time PVD spun there. Luis is a very very good DJ, I have seen him play aside from Twilo, and he definitely bangs it out. As for the way the promoter wrote it, I dunno...you have a point...
  13. There was alot of variety in Sander's set. He started off nice and groovy, with his trademark soulful progressive house. He built and built and peaked with some phat breaks with reggae on top. He continued to bang it out, with sprinklings of some classics like Bizarre Love Triangle. And nothing will beat the moment the music paused, and a vocal came on saying "the muthafuckin saga ain't over"...the crowd went NUTZ when the beat dropped right after that... Can't wait till Sander comes back...
  14. What a great night of music. I was throroughly impressed by Steve Porter. Not only is this kid a great producer, he's a great mixer and put together a nice set. Very groovy in the beginning, bangin' by the end. Perhaps a little too hard and fast at the end, since he was the openning DJ. That' doesn't leave much room for Sander to build, so he had to take it down a bit noticably. But Sander really showed us what he can do when he has more than 4 hours. I felt his set built up very nicely, and the crowd loved it when he threw in those breaks. The best was when he played New Order's Blue Monday towards the end. He even joined us on the dancefloor during the encores. Big ups to Sander! Can't wait to hear him again... Good seein' the peeps I know. For those I don't, hope to meet you this weekend at Pappa/Cusick...
  15. Hey GlowGrlNyc Is your name because you like to do glowsticks? Anyways, yeah, it's a shame Rapture hit Z100. There is also a video. Is that why you heard Carson Daly's voice come on? Or was he on Z100? Anyways, it's good and bad, more exposure for dance music is a good thing. i think. -D
  16. What do you want to know about Vinyl? Ask away...
  17. Check out Global Underground's Nubreed series...Sander mixed Nubreed 5. Also, if you can find it, download Tranceglobal Airways, an album Sander mixed for Mixer magazine I think it was, back in the day. And you can find various live sets online. Sander rocked it out with Nick Warren at Twilo March of last year, as well as last Sept. on the Made Records boat party. Come check it out...you will get hooked Mugz! See you there! Drop me a line as well... -D
  18. We actually used to use DeWalt sanders in high school shop class... This is gonna be a rawkin' party. Did any of you go see his set on the Paddle Wheel Queen back in Sept? He rawked it back then too. -D
  19. the "elbow dance" This is where the guido/meathead looks like he is punching himself in the chin while holding his elbows out, so as to maximize the number of other dancers he can hit on the dancefloor. This dance is occasionally paired with an attempted 360. This dance is probably a close cousing if the "chicken clap" dance.
  20. I would have to say, Vinyl for the Made parties, agree with Guernica, also, Tuesdays (Blister) and Thursdays (Plexi) at Filter 14. All those are what you are askin' for. Friendliest and best vibes.
  21. To Maudy and all my other diverse music fans: Fila Brazillia def a good call... Thievery Corporation def the best. Also, try Lemongrass, Yonderboi, Starseeds. So many more. So much good music besides dance music!!! -Den
  22. how many threads there are... I am gonna reply to all of'em... I'll see ya guys there! Free Champagne! Woohoo!
  23. Shucks I didn't get to meet y'all. Come to Danny Howells NYE! I will be there. As you all know, I'm not the best trainspotter around. Ok, so I'm pretty horrible at it. But since no one else is representin' at this time, I will do my best to describe the party. Victor started around 11:30 ish. The crowd started streaming in between 1:00 and 4:00. It mostly consisted of Victors fans from his old residency. The vibe we very good, and you could tell everyone was SO happy to hear Victor again after a long layoff. HIs sound was very progressive, especially at the beginning and end. Within the fist couple of hours, he dropped the Lexicon Ave mix of Breathe, Desire, and some other recognizable songs that I was unable to trainspot. The room filled quickly and Victor gradually spun harder and deeper. The crowd wanted what they remembered him for at Roxy and he obliged. But he never completely strayed from the progressive theme he started at the beginning of the set. Around 4 or 5, he settled back into a darker tribal groove. Around 6 and 7 he was really bangin' it out. He ended the night very progressive. The lasers were in full effect, and I think the new setup on the stage worked well. I didn't get to see too much of the stuff on the screen tho. Thanks Boymopar, can't wait to see what you have in store for NYE. Also, the back room has been completely refurbished...I won't bother describing it. You'll all see it when you come to NYE =) The crowd was mostly what you would see at old Victor parties and Junior. The vibe was good tho, and I think they respected all the straight guys. As the night went on, and in a weird correspondance to the music becoming deeper and darker, the crowd was more mixed. By 6am, it was a very mixed crowd. I think Vics regular fans were also not as used to his new progressive sound. My short list of trainspots: Science Dept. - Breath (Lexicon Ave Mix) ?????? - Follow Me ?????? - Desire ?????? - Matrix Brancaccio & Aisher - Lovely Day What It Feels Like For A Girl - Madonna (dunno what mix) Dirty - Dirty Cedric Gervais - Burning Nick Holder - Inside Your Soul (Lexicon Ave Mix) IIO - Rapture (John Creamer Mix) Stephane K & John Creamer - Wish You Were Here Feel free to add/correct. I think y'all woulda liked the night alot. -Den
  24. hhmmmm... I guess I would need an income in order to have money to invest. Unfortunately, my dot com closed due to lack of funding. FUCK.
  25. He will definitely be bangin' it out on New Year's. Also, we gotta thank him for his commitment to New York after Twilo closed. His residency at Twilo had just started this year, and the fact that he was as commited to us as us to him was really cool. Details for the event: "Celebrate New Year's Eve 2002 with DANNY HOWELLS" @ Vinyl $50 Entrance includes a gift of an individual sized bottle of Chandon champagne for our 21 and over guests or 2 non alcoholic drinks of choice. **Laser by Stellar Designs Doors open @ 10pm Monday December 31 18+ with government issued ID To see flyer, please click: http://www.maderecords.com/123101.php Seasons Greetings from Made Events www.maderecords.com www.dannyhowells.com
