DEFINITELY, girly! it's just like the smurfs. My mom used to tell me the smurfs lived in Eastern Europe somewhere, and i always hoped to see them when i travelled there...just made the show more enjoyable.

And the same goes for Santa. I loved waking up in the morning to find the milk half-drunken and leftovers ofcookies and carrots on the table. I wasn't heartbroken when i discovered Santa didn't exist. It's just something you inevitably grow out of, y'know?

Yeah I am. Whats the harm in it???

I was told there was a santa when i was little, but then somehow i realized that there wasnt, you know from just other kids and just gettin older.

like someone said before, believing in santa and everyhting makes xmas special for kids.

:D

Did anyone else find the concerned future parent topic an amusing counter-point to the fetish/leather dildos sig? Just wondering... Are you gonna tell them you were into S&M instead of Santa?

My main problem with you telling your kid not to believe in Santa Claus, is then they will become that precocious brat in the kindergarden class that sits haughtily in the corner at snack time and tells all the other happy, imaginative, santa-loving kids that they have been LIED to by their OWN PARENTS, that they are FOOLS and CHILDISH and GULLIBLE (and to look in the basement closet for the santa wrapping)!!! and then all the other kids run home, crying and betrayed by those they loved the most, feeling the pain of having their youth snatched from them, and then all the other parents in class are going to leave angry, hurt messages on your answering machine and snub you at PTA meetings for the rest of elementary school...

These are just some of the many reasons I don't want kids.

LOL.....there is no harm in small children believing...it's fun!! and the tooth fairy was also most generous at my house as well! LOL...so yes...my children will believe in santa/easter bunny/tooth fairy and whatever else as long as it won't hurt them!!! children these days are losing their innocence and i guess faith in things too early!! ok..now i am starting to preach!

i dont think i would

i didn't start doin it until last week

first of all you're want to give your kid the world...during christmas time every damn commercial and store wants to stuff the world down your throat

every time we go to the mall i gotta keep sayin 'baby i can't buy that for you right now but if you're a good boy maybe santa will give it to you for christmas'..then he throws a fit because he wants it right now..i tell him you are acting naughty and santa knows if you are naughty or nice

my kid knows all the songs because they sing em in kindergarden so he kinda follows

ok so because of my sig my posts should only be sex related??

however i asked the question because i wanted to hear other opinions

and i think i will tell my kids there is a santa

however i questioned not telling them, not because i would be lying to them

but because i would like to bring a more profoud meaning to christmas

for me its a time of giving to loved ones and to those less fortunate

i think the parents who forget to tell there kids that, are the ones who are depriving their kids

i even see adults who get caught up on what i consider the wrong meaning of the holdays, and spend it complaining and bitter

instead of thankful that they have a home, family, and friends

well theres my 2 cents

If you tell your kids there is a Santa then you are also telling them that it is ok to lie. I mean i agree with bolth sides and its hard to pick one I think if I ever have kids ill tell them there is a santa because that's the best time of your life when you parents take care of you and you believe anything they tell you. Its only later you find out different.

My most memorable "santa clause" memory was when I was around 7 or 8. My mom calling us (my sis & I) into the livingroom because she thought she heard a strange noise in the basement.

(No chimney in the house, best alt. basemant). We heard the noise too, and automatically knew it had to be SANTA!

Now how can you deny that joy to a 7 and 4 year old??

The noise was my father stomping around, he manage to run quickly from the back entrance back upstairs just in time to walk us down to the basemant.

What did we see? The play kitchenette we were begging and writing letters to Santa.:) :)

There are plenty of things we have to lie to children about... I mean how else are they going to develop a sense of security? It's not like you can tell the cold, hard facts to a five year old...

"Sorry Bobby, there's no such thing as Santa... and also, we didn't send Sparky to a nice big farm upstate to play with the other dogs, Daddy ran him over in the driveway one night when he came home piss drunk!"
