  1. Musically, I cant' think of any other clubs right now that are better than Nation on Friday night in Commack, NY, and Sound Factory in New York City on Saturday night / Sunday morning. Factory is mostly a gay party on Sunday morning, but the music is incredible. Nation is not in Manhattan, but there aren't many nightclubs in Manhattan at this moment that can rival the music at Nation. You have DJ Rob James, one of the best underground dj's in New York, as the resident dj every week, not to mention the underground specialists that will pass through there in the upcoming weeks. Those who bash the party simply for being located in Commack know jack shit about the music or the vibe there, and base their comments solely on bullshit preconceptions about L.I. If you really love house music, SF and Nation will not dissapoint. You may also want to try Discotheque in NYC on sunday morning.
  2. Didn't he already celebrate his birthday at Discotheque afterhours a little while ago?
  3. Was there a different dj in the basement? Vivacious didn't really add shit to the club's vibe, and I'm sure Kevin A. and other reputable drag queens will make appearances at SF now that Junior's the resident. And it's good to have Paris at the door again, despite how stupid she often sounds / acts. She's definitely earned her keep.
  4. Is Paris strictly door-woman again, or is she still spinning upstairs?
  5. Failure at marriage, or failure on an important exam?
  6. At first, she seemed pretty, but now she just seems annoying, and that diminishes her beauty in my eyes. Plus, whenever her hubby (Nick) seems to be facing some kind of dillema, albeit personal or professional, Jessica never really seems overly-concerned about it. She offers half-assed, vague advice, and just maintains this "I really couldn't give a fuck b/c it's not me in who's facing the problem" expression on her face. Nick needs to divorce that bitch. She's definitely not someone he can count on in times of hardship.
  7. They'll definitely draw a good crowd. Overall, many Junior heads are Manhattan residents, so the crowd will be pretty good.
  8. Assuming Junior's party @ SF doesn't get cancelled tonight, is anyone going to make it out? I'm contemplating it right now. If I get enough work done, I'm heading out.
  9. This should be a treat for die-hard JP fans. Exit will provide more than enough space, since a fuckload of people will probably turn out, and the mainfloor is actually perfect for JP.
  10. I concur. I didn't go last night, but Rob has always been a favorite of mine, and there's no comparison between him and JP re: track selection / mixing. Rob is much better in my opinion.
  11. The photos are up from opening night w/ Rob James & Anthony Nero. Check them out: http://www.nationli.com/npix/ More will be available soon. Hope to see many of you tonight for Eddie Baez. It's going to be an insane night of house music.

    so she's 19...

What the fuck are you talking about? I can't believe you're even debating this. She's 19 and you're only 22 - an age gap, but not a big one. If she's sweet and seems to dig you, go for it.
  13. Freedom afterhours in July of 98. Dj Rob James was on the one and twos, and dropped the nastiest anthems all morning and afternoon. Totally unhindered, unrestricted underground vibe that will never exist again. The only time and place where I ever felt such a great vibe again was a few months later at the Tunnel in the summer of the same year.
  14. Chicago House music is nasty as fuck, but just a bit too fast for my taste. I need to feel the bass drop with some soul, not speed. I have some Chicago-style house on vinyl, but I usually drop it at a slower pitch. Bad Boy Bill is incredible on the one and two's though. I heard him once at the Tunnel back in 97 or 98, and he ripped the place apart. My cousin spins jungle down in Atlanta, and he's cool with a couple of Chicago house dj's. I met DJ Rip (Xavier Jacome) when I was down in Atlanta. He's wicked on the decks, and his productions are disgusting.
  15. Eddie, Great to see you on the Island. Nation is bringing in some of the wickedest underground talent over the next few weeks, and you are really the only dj appropriate to kick off such a venue. I've missed your New York presence since the end of your reign at Tunnel, and I know this venue will give you the chance to unleash your wicked productions on a house-hungry crowd that's been dying to hear you rip shit. This Friday, like last Friday, will be insane.
  16. Easy there, Sawe. Somebody ban this motherfucker already. Jeez.
  17. It depends. From what I know, the age policy is 21 and up, but they may let you in because they were putting marks on the hands of those who were old enough to drink, which sort of implies that younger people were being let in. You can probably get in, but you won't be able to drink. There were definitely some younger kats there on Friday. Call them up on Friday and ask, email Mattm20, or go to www.nationli.com and ask.
  18. Nation last night was incredible. Rob James ripped the place up from the time the door opened, Anthony Nero stepped in for a while and ripped shit, then Rob James went back to killling it. He closed out a nasty set with his anthem, "Amsterdam." This was absolutely one of the best parties I've been to in a long time. Great vibe, great dj's who respect house music and truly love what they do, and great staff. Nation was exactly what I expected it to be: a place that is concerned primarily with the music and vibe. I couldn't believe some of the shit that Nero and James were throwing down last night. What really sucks is that Nation is a local L.I. party, and as such, many people will not want to trek out to Commack on Fridays to check it out. Many people also have preconceived notions about Long Island parties, but that shit needs to be tossed out the window. I know it's hard to believe that a true house venue like this could be held in Commack, but it is, and this little spot is virgin territory for true house-heads to rip shit all night on Fridays. Outside of NYC, this is one of the phattest parties I've been to in a while. The potential this party has is endless. All I have to say is that it will be a fuckin waste if Nation does not last long. For you true house heads who didn't go: parties like this do not come along very often, and when they do, we need to show our love for them. There is so much great local NY talent , and to not enjoy that shit every friday would be a fuckin waste. Aside from investing money in renovations, the owners of this club have selected some dj's who know how to turn shit out and play for a crowd that wants to stay and dance all night. Nation was phat, and I have absolutely no complaints about the night. Everything was perfect. Keep up the flawless work on this party.

  20. Sounds like "It's You (Only you)" by Climaxx Rated.
  21. My favorites are: The episode where Elaine eats J. Peterman's ancient cake, and then tries to replace it with an Entenman's. The episode where Jerry dates a masseuse who will give a massage to everyone except him. The episode where Jerry and Elaine agree to have sex, but Jerry's unable to get an erection. The episode where Jerry winds up dating the maid who comes to clean up his apartment. The episode where Jerry, Elaine, and Kramer spend the entire episode looking for Kramer's car in the Yankee stadium parking lot. The episode where Elaine is the only one who seems to really hate the film "The English Patient." The episode where Jerry and the gang all go out to a party in the Hamptons only to get stuck there because George uses the car to take some chick home. Jerry winds up giving his address to the host of the party before leaving, telling him to "check him out" if he ever came into the city. The guy winds up coming out there the next weekend, all drunk, and starts bugging Jerry to come out. Jerry, who hardly remembers the guy, already has plans, and is unable to break them, so he lets the guy stay in his apt. The guy then winds up inviting some hooker to the apt who refuses to leave because he doesn't pay her. The episode where Jerry's old acquaintance from college loses his job as an executive in a prestigious corporation because he agrees to have a "catch up" lunch with Jerry. The episode where Jerry encourages a restaurant owner, who's Pakistani, to change his restaurant into a Pakistani restaurant. The owner winds up doing so, only to lose everything he has.
  22. I wonder if they will expand the size of the fenced off smoking area outside.
