  1. If you like trendy clothes and are willing to pay about 20% more than H & M for better quality you should go to Zara instead. They are a Spanish chain, and their clothes last a lot longer. And one more tip about H&M's clothes. Either dry clean or hand wash. It will last longer.
  2. well...last year was the first year i even went to a sunset. i guess i was sleeping through most of them in ibiza-town.(and i'm really stupid for missing them, because it was relaxing) but that area really looked like if they invested some money into it they could build something nice.

  4. sounds like some great renovations. i'll give you the full report when i get back. (i'm leaving NYC next thursday)
  5. I can't complain about actual clubs as buildings, but the vibes from the people are what make the club good or evil. In terms of clubs that had the types of people that I can't relate to I would have to say SF or Exit. The venues themselves would be fine if the people were more into the music and less into having sex on the dancefloor.
  6. Can i explain why i like judgement sundays??? (i am not dissing space at all, because i will go to both) but... Eden, since it has been remodeled, has the best soundsystem on the island. The vibe was great, and even though Jules is a bit mainstream the people were nice and the club was comfortable. Ferry Corsten also played an amazing set. And they had lasers. I guess it reminded me a bit of Twilo. And the soundsystems at some of the other clubs are pretty weak or distorted. (Privilege on every other night besides manumission has annoying reverb.) so its worth a trip to san an just to go to Eden.
  7. I can't make it but I'm sure it will be awesome. They have the midas touch...every song they compose, remix, or play turns to gold.
  8. Hey Dennis. i feel for you! it isn't the karma its the car. i am in the same situation with a car, and all i can say is it is costing me more to keep it then it would be to rent one the three times a month i need it. it got hit while it was parked and nobody left a note so i had to fork over the $500 deductible to get it fixed. The insurance is around 2200 a year for a damn 10 year old car. and it takes me an hour to find a new spot on the alternate side days. also, i learned to be a mean person and not drive it into the city at all, not even to drive my friends around to clubs because there are too many screwed up people driving at 6 in the morning when we want to get home. sell it. i'm sure your friends will forgive you! -k
  9. A nice time was had by all, even though I was only there for about half an hour. Nice meeting you Mugwump and Shadowchaser. -ab
  10. not sure if anarchy is a good solution but we could try it and see what happens.
  11. Does anyone know who is running for mayor? And can we start something now to get everyone to vote for someone that supports NYC nightlife?????
  12. Start at ibiza-spotlight.com Click on the nightlife tab, and then the club listings tab. Then choose from the events going on. Here are my picks: If you're going to be there on a Monday you should definitely go to Manumission at Privilege. During the daytime you can check out Space (I think sundays are probably the best day to go). As for tuesdays...if you like Oakenfold go to Pacha, otherwise I think god's kitchen at Amnesia should be the best event going on. Wednesdays...Renaissance at Privilege. Thursdays...Cream at Amnesia Friday...Ministry of Sound at Amnesia Saturday...not sure Sunday night...Judgement Sundays at Eden or Home at Space. The best thing you can do is save every club flyer that people hand you. (And they promote all day and all night so you will get many!) The flyers usually save you some pesetas at the door, or you can buy tickets ahead of time to the places you want to go. And pick up the free Mixmag or Ministry guides because they contain a lot of info about places to go and events. Most stores and restaurants keep them near their cash registers. Also, make friends with some British people and some of the people that work in the preparty bars. They are fun to party with and have more information, and can sometimes get you comps into clubs.
  13. Well...the main problem with the idea of the "loft-type" party is that when there is a great dj there, people want to dance just as much as they would in a club...and the floor isn't as strong so the great dj's records skip a lot. Also I have seen the same great dj in both types of places, and i think that he played a better set at the large club. Sad, but true. But it was kind of cool to be in a smaller private setting, so I wouldn't turn that down if it was going on in the future.
  14. The intimate "loft" type party would have to have a kryogenifex cool air blaster and some better lights, and a phazon sound system, in order for me to have a good time or else the intimate "loft" party turns into an intimate sauna and is just as packed as a former nightclub i used to know that got shut down.
  15. cool looks like i have my next 5 spring breaks planned..... Only problem is that all these Ibiza activities don't start until the end of June. You can't spend a spring break there. And pacha is the only club opened year round. Save it for the summer.
  16. The ferry from barcelona isn't much cheaper than a flight, and it is 8 hours overnight vs. an hour. Its well worth the $150 per ticket. You can't get airfare for less than $1000 total, no matter what way you try. I used economytravel.com the past two years, and cheaptickets.com this year. I booked in early February and got round trip to barcelona for $779, and then round trip to ibiza for $150. It is late may already so you probably can't get that fare. As for hotels, contact festivetravel.com and send them an email with your specifications. The hotel we stay at is in Ibiza-town, on a hill adjacent to D'alt villa, has a sea view, and sleeps 4 per room. It runs about 70$ a night, and there is no air conditioning. (this is only an issue if you plan on spending any time in your room at all) I'm sure there are cheaper places in San Antonio, but I wouldn't stay there myself knowing that I have had great experiences in I-town without all the drunken people spilling into the streets and yakking off their hotel balconies. Also check for rooms in Playa d'en bossa if you plan on spending time at the disco beach. Less travelling during the day at least. If you want to save money on clubbing make some good friends at some of the bars beforehand and they can give you comps or reduced tickets into the clubs. Good luck.
  17. Its only in the 60s there now...according to weather.com And the clubs aren't really open until the middle of June. Perhaps you want to go to Barcelona instead, and save Ibiza for when you can go in the middle of summer. Or wait on taking your honeymoon until the end of June. For May...Barcelona has plenty of nightlife and it doesn't require any extra flights or ferries. (You can't fly to Ibiza without flying through Barcelona or Madrid.)
  18. You want information? b2b's document is a great start. you can also check out ibiza-spotlight.com for the dj listings and club lineups which are becoming updated weekly at this point. I've gone twice (1) the last week in july in 99 , 2) the last week in june/first week of july last summer. Going again in june/early july because i need some peace for part of the time. The high season (no pun intended) is the second week of july through the middle of september, with many americans choosing to go for the closing parties (clubplanet also plans a trip around this time) There are several companies that do packages like experienceibiza.com or bringitonweb.com but I prefer to book my own stuff so i can stay where i want. (Festivetravel.com out of Fort Lauderdale is a good travel agent to book villas and hotels through, Joe (the owner), has lived there for a few years and can make deals with the locals)
  19. b2b and other Ibiza-bound persons... many of the lineups are listed now on www.ibiza-spotlight.com but i'm sure you know that already b2b. same nights as last year for the most part. sunday nights are space or judge jules/ferry corsten at eden, mondays manumission tuesdays- god's kitchen (Fergie, Tiesto,Mauro Picotto) and perfecto at pacha (but i'm sure god's kitchen will be more interesting than oakey.) wednesdays- renaissance at privilege thursday- cream at amnesia friday- dance valley or ministry of sound saturday (clockwork orange- but i've had enough of es paradis for a while...I don't like their djs)
  20. This just means that Deep Dish night will start getting more crowded. But then again, Deep dish are so good that they will soon attract the numbers that PVD or S&D are pulling in anyway.
  21. Starchild is right...but usually a "b"-side is another mix (version) of the single that is released (the song on the "A" side) or another song that the artist did that probably isn't going to be released on its own. This all sort of goes back to the radio, where they only play A-side singles...You'd never hear other songs from a particular artist's album (LP) that aren't released as singles.
  22. If you like his cds your best bet would be going to see Tiesto when he comes to town, or Paul Van Dyk. You should check out Cream on Fridays too, but I think Mark Divine's music is a bit harder trance than Ferry Corsten- yet I am always impressed by Mark. And if you're looking for more of Ferry's stuff look under one of his other aliases (System F).
  23. It would be nice if Ferry Corsten did come to NYC. I handed him a note while he was spinning at Eden in Ibiza last summer. It said "Will you ever come to NY and spin at Twilo?" He showed the note to his friend who was standing next to him and they both laughed and smiled at me. So I really didn't get a straight answer. But at least the question was asked. And he his sets are much less cheesy in person than some of his anthemy cds.
  24. What my fiancee and I are planning on doing is having a small wedding (dinner at a four star restaurant for about 50 relatives and closest friends), and then renting out a lounge or smaller club and having a seperate party for our friends a few weeks later. Since he is a dj and we know a lot of other djs they will all get a chance to spin. This way, everyone is happy and the price doesn't get way out of control, and nobody has to do the Chicken dance to Kool and the Gang. I mean, spending $150 per person at a catering hall just isn't worth it for 175 people (our original plan), nor is it romantic in any way. Our first dance will be to Lustral's Everytime.
