  1. an old boyfriend of mine was/is a dj. (6 years later he is now my fianceé) my freshman year of college... introduced me to electronic music (i listened to punk, ska, and alternative music at the time) dragged me out to my first rave (Mars in Syracuse in spring of 1996) and lots of local parties in the upstate scene at the time (Drew from Binghamton and Phato from Syracuse). I've never been the same since.
  2. I have no complaints. I've been going to Twilo since the beginning of time (Sasha and Digweed in 97) and I found friday to be one of the better times. Just really good music (warren is forgiven for the train wreck- he's only human). What really makes my night at Twilo is no longer the traditional lights/music/substances (icing on the cake) but the group of old friends and new friends that join you. After all, how could you possibly have the best night ever if you don't have people you can dance and talk with? Thanks to everyone who kept me company while my other half is down in Miami living it up! Particularly crommy, furnace, noiseboy, my two old college buddies Dan and Steve, one of my oldest and dearest clubbing friends Justin, Greg and Nadine, James, and some new people I met (Rich, Kim, and Darcia) And thanks Sander, Nick and Pascal. (i think I watched too many Oscar speeches last night)
  3. Yup. Mark spun an awesome set. We know for sure he isn't going into your average record store to shop for records...and that's why his sets are so original... He won't play mostly anthems like the djs mentioned above.Just good hard trance with overlapping melodies and complex beats. I'll see you all next week, and the week after that, and the week after that. The big clubs don't know what they're missing. -k
  4. he used to spin hard house. (Witch Doktor, and Professional Widow were both his) If you're into trance he's probably not your bag...but he is old skool and worthy of checking out once in your lifetime.
  5. trendy seems to be what the media makes it to be. (ie. we are trendy because we are part of the "elite" club scene that seems to show up in Ford Focus commercials, Kenneth Cole subway ads, Twix commercials) I have a friend who works in the accessory design industry, and she was telling me there are whole careers based on people who are trend predictors...they create "lookbooks" that companies pay thousands of dollars to see. (Advertising agencies, fashion designers, magazines) to discover what's "hot" and to bite off of other peoples designs.
  6. besides...if you can't go to the WMC you might as well get the next best thing... And you'd think Nick and Sander will be bringing with them the same tunes they will be unveiling in Miami, so we hear them first!!!
  7. bsg...we'll miss your smiling face. prior engagement??? what are you possibly doing that could top liquids? you're forgiven...but just this once.
  8. Its about time Divine shows NYC what GREAT music is all about. and Marcel too.
  9. My favorite DJ, aka Spree, is spinning from 10-12. Join us. And stay for Perry and Joe Bond. Great music, friendly people, and free.

  11. Well. What we used to do to find out... was go on ticketmaster.com . Then type in New York for the state, and do a search on Oakenfold. Sometimes they spell it wrong (Oakenfeld). If there is anything coming up, most likely they are the only ones selling tickets anyways. Also heard Oakie confirmed this summer's weekly residency at Pacha in Ibiza.
  12. Well... apparently someone at Tiesto at the LL had them too on saturday night. he took a lighter to the elastic on them and sparks were flying.
  13. saw it last night. I was quite amused! Apple has the best, most thoughtful commercials. Think different! This message brought to you by the awesome power of a G4 tower.
  14. The name of the club was Arena.
  15. for international tickets try economytravel.com I got tix to Ibiza last summer for $850 taxes included. A lot less than the $1000-$1200 I was being quoted from other sites. Travelocity tends to be more expensive...for domestic they're okay though. Set up a fare watcher for what city you want to go to and they'll email you when the prices drop.
  16. Yup. Had one of my best nights out all year. Still was dancing at 7AM without the help of the usual substances, but with the encouragement of some great people...blueskygirl, crommy, and furnace. Restored my faith in the Slimelight. And the lights that night, bouncing off of the 7 or 8 mirrorballs were phenomenal. Twilo just doesn't have the architecture for that. Slightly disappointed about the sound system. It was loud, but you couldn't feel the bass in your heart. You could feel the floor move up and down, and that was amusing.
  17. Overall, a great night at the Slimelight. But I do have to say, they should retire Solor Stone's "Seven Cities" already. Oakey played it out two years ago, and if you're going to be playing that kind of stuff there are much better older songs to chose from. The lights and the rest of the music were fantastic though. And I got to meet some nice people and have some interesting
  18. If you're talking about American rave djs... Back in the day (95-98) my favorites were Feelgood and Scott Henry. Props to the great Brooklyn DJs (ie. Frankie, Adam and Heather) and Philly DJS (Josh Wink and Nigel Richards), but I still liked the DC ones better.
  19. I am 25 and have been partying since I was 18. Raves back then, but now that I'm older I go to clubs instead. Even though we are engaged-- my finacee and I still party. (so obviously our reason for going out is not because we're single and looking to hook up with someone or because we didn't get the chance when we were younger.) We go out because we love the music and clubs are the only places to hear the best djs and the newest underground music. We are going to keep going out because who cares how old you are as long as you're still having fun!!! That doesn't make us weird. p.s.(There is a 65 year old guy "Captain Birdseye" who is a regular at Pacha in Ibiza and he still goes out all night. More power to him.)
  20. The last Shipwrecked was one of the best parties this winter. Dave's parties always have the best underground DJs and the best underground music in the city. And really great vibe. No Bullshit! I can only imagine this one will be even better. This boat is off the hook. See you tonight.
  21. I was at that also, and it was amazing. The Roxy is actually one of the best but most underrated places in the city to hear good sets.
  22. Who would you like to see and where? I already got my wish when Hybrid came to town....but they were in the wrong venue(s). I wanted to kidnap them so that I could put them on the Phazon and do their music the justice it deserves.
  23. 530 and still shinin' a little. "it's a lovely day...and the sun is shinin'...everywhere I go...I see children smilin'"
  24. A long long time ago, In a snowy galaxy far far away... Binghamton for my first two years Syracuse for my last three... Class of 99, BFA Communications (Graphic) Design
