  1. flithy_slag aka Suneill...I have met you before. Blue skygirl introduced us, and we all went to a party at your place in October (it was a long long time ago). Next time I see ya I'll introduce myself again. -Abgrover
  2. that lineup is pretty damn amazing. My fianceé just applied for a pass. Unfortunately I can't go, because I am only taking one vacation this year and it is back to Ibiza, where all those Djs will be...just not all in one week
  3. Thanks everybody for coming down last night. We saw a lot of old friends and made a bunch of new ones, and your support means a lot to us! It restores my faith in the NY scene when I get to meet some really nice people who have something good to say, and Dave Sigmund's party at Liquids is a great venue for that. See you next week. And stay tuned for other related parties by checking touchedbyadj.com -Kim (DJ Spree's other half)
  4. Ayia Nappa is more for those into the garage scene. Whatever one would consider "garage"? Ibiza is pretty much split between house music and trance. Buy yourself a Mixmag sometime around May as they devote whole issues to all these party islands and which ones cater to your musical and sexual tastes.

  6. Funny. I would think if you are a diabetic you would avoid soft drinks that have sugar. And the main ingredients after water are sucrose and glucose. Maybe its that mystery ingredient "taurine" that is doing the damage. Theres all sorts of info on Red Bull's website. And contrary to popular belief there is no ephedrine in Red Bull. Its the sugar that's keeping you awake and energetic and possibly the vodka.
  7. You can expect progressive trance. Some anthemy stuff, but mostly just a really good set of songs you may not recognize. Sam him in Ibiza two summers in a row, and he rocked both times. Don't know about crowded, depends on how many people have heard of him. And judging by the fact that he has never spun in NYC it may only be the die-hard music industry people and the people who go to Twilo every week for the sake of going there, without regard to the name of the DJ. But people will soon tire of Paul Oakenfold, and PVD, and Sasha and Digweed so they will be looking towards some fresh faces.
  8. Thannks for removing Oakie from #1. He doesn't play for the love of music anymore. He plays the same set every time, never does an encore and packs places so tight that there is no room to dance. He receives a copy of every new white label, yet plays the same five songs just to please the masses. I've seen much better sets from Sasha and Digweed, PVD, Nick Warren and Dave Seaman. Everyone on this list is pretty damn good, but why is Sandra Collins 93? She should be up in the 20s... Just venting a little bit...
  9. No. Stow away on a plane. You'll spend less time in jail than if you robbed a bank.
  10. And definitely don't go during the first two weeks of July. It sucks then!!!
  11. To all people planning on going to Ibiza in 2001, just reminding you to start a savings account now dedicated to the cause. By April you should have your flight booked and your hotel or villa reserved. If you choose to go indepently of the Clubplanet Group trip, this information applies... A moderate trip (meaning cheaper accomodations but enough spending money to hit one club per night) for a week will run you $2500 (most likely you can't get airfare for less than $900 no matter what website or travel agent you use.) The reason why I am making this announcement is to make you happier people. Just from past experiences with friends who said they'd go yet backed out in May because they spent all their money on NY clubs throughout the spring. It just isn't worth throwing away $200 a weekend in NYC when you could be donating it to the Ibiza account and have one absolutely brilliant week of bliss in paradise.
  12. as for plain old trance? future sound of london in 1994. Papua New Guinea and djs like the hardkiss brothers, circa spring of 1996. as for progessive trance, thanksgiving at twilo for sasha and digweeds 1997 gig.
  13. yep, he's absolutely fabulous live. saw him at privilege in ibiza with dave seaman for renaissance. really solid set, but the sound system there is quite distorted because of its size. (the ceilings are probably 4 stories tall). played constantly good music, but nothing recognizable (which is good in cases like this because it is unexpected.)
  14. The absolute worst thing about the train is living at the last stop of one (the R). yes, in the morning on the way to work you always get a seat, but on nights and weekends the damn thing turns into a shuttle and I can't escape brooklyn. It once took me 5 trains just to get to Union Square.
  15. I'm there. I gotta work off thanksgiving dinner somehow...and dancing to oakie is much more fun than the gym.
  16. now even more in love than ever. got engaged last weekend, after 6 year aniversary.
  17. pvd's Together we will conquer. He wrote it with his wife, and it is so emotional it made me cry the first time I played the cd. It still hasn't been released on vinyl but I'm waiting. "Time will always tell...the reason why we love so well..."
  18. And as for thursday night things, Liquids is always fun. Great DJS, music, and vibe. And no cover.
  19. I think they're two different people. Ani (Used to be On-E) from Dee-Lite/ Nasa. Haven't seen his name anywhere in about 3 years.
  20. Got bored of daylight I guess. And i happen to love the music and dancing to it.
  21. art director at an advertising/ marketing/ internet agency. graphic designer on the side. but it isn't as glamorous or creative as it should be... that's why i go out. if i didn't i'd be an angry person!!!
  22. well, platforms are also a good idea because they keep your feet out of some really gross things that may be on the floor of a club.
  23. depends on what type of dj... almost any dj in our scene has more talent than most pop stars (with making music). you have to be a mathematician to orchestrate a mix. (and many of these djs make their own music too, which in some cases is much more emotional and related to classical music than a pop star's cheez.) (examples: BT, Hybrid, Moby, etc...) wedding and bar mitzvah djs don't count. And singers with excellent vocal skills are still highly regarded musicians in my book, but currently there are only a handful that aren't electronically altered. Still gotta give tons of respect to Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, and Natalie Merchant for being incredibly talented. A good dj/ remixer sometimes uses their vocals to create even better remixes than their original songs.
  24. hey there, so sorry i didn't make it out to Liquids last night. I was at an office halloween party and spree was at home, so i had to go back to brooklyn late at night all alone. but next time we will be definitely going, okay??? its rough when many of our peeps can go out late on weeknights, but if we want to go out we have to take the next morning off from work. later -k
  25. well, their NYC part of the US tour was a great time out...that is until Acosta went on. so cheezy i had to go home. but tall paul and danny howells were super. nobody in NYC knew much about MOS, or it was a thursday night or something, because there weren't a ton of people there. The strange thing is that when I go to London I will avoid MOS because there are tons of better places to go.
