  1. I believe it was Binary Finary 99. The one that went octaves higher than the original... Heard at Privilege in summer of 99
  2. You can always plan things your own way. Here are some helpful sites. cheaptickets.com (just got my flights for around 900 a ticket, but I'm taking 4 days in Barcelona, or the ticket would be around 700) festivetravel.com (a travel agent out of fort lauderdale that rents villas and reasonable hotel rooms (like 70$ a night at Mar Blau in Ibiza-town) ibiza-spotlight.com (a great resource for club listings...when they begin to announce them in April) autoeurope.com (if you need to rent a car and a cell phone...US phones don't work in Europe)
  3. It was fine at Deep Dish.. I guess the secret isn't out yet. But this, like all the others will also blow way out of control.
  4. see the posted thread for "so who's going to Ibiza this summer" i provided some info on the prices I was coming up with. You can't get airfare for less than $800 if you do it online on your own. The cheapest prices seem to be coming up on cheaptickets.com and economytravel.com For villa, or hotel go to festivetravel.com or call them (they run their agency out of Fort Lauderdale) Joe from festive travel specializes in Ibiza, because he used to live there. I recommend you stay in Ibiza town or figuretas. San Antonio is full of drunken Brits falling over on the streets. And its no paradise.
  5. Just booked my tix and a car this morning for June 24 to July 3. Opening parties are fun too and much less hectic. I was there the first week of July last summer and the last week of July 2 summers ago. Either way, Cream, Manumission and whatever's going on at Pacha and Space will always be packed with people and have great lineups. For complete club and event listings check out ibiza-spotlight.com in a couple of months. For villa rentals check out festivetravel.com I'm flying to Barcelona on Air Europa. It's not a direct flight (there is a layover in Madrid) but it was $679. Then sightseeing in Barcelona/Sitges for a few days and flying on to Ibiza on Iberia. Be prepared...Iberia isn't like Virgin or anything. The food sucks. The flight is long. And it just isn't comfortable but who cares!
  6. not to mention the guy that sucks his own member and comes on the audience. I was actually quite appalled by it. the soundtrack to his act was the debut of demon's night. think about what i have to go through every time i hear that song in the future.
  7. Yup. He plays a solid set. Not as much epic stuff as on some of his cds, but still quite amazing. And definitely worth hearing on Twilo's soundsystem. Saw him in Ibiza at a Renaissance party last July (held at Privilige) along with Dave Seaman.
  8. schwinge-you in? and then maybe swing on by twilo for some deep dish?
  9. Wherever you go...don't go to Madrid's Pacha. They play all 80's heavy metal and cheese. And its pricey to get in. We stumbled upon a great techno club, but we don't remember the name. It was off of Gran Via, right before Gran Via turns into Calle de la Princesa. (Gran Via is sort of the main street with many touristy things.)
  10. san antonio, a nice place to visit (the newly rennovated Eden is in my opinion the best club on the island) but stay in ibiza-town/talamanca or in figuretas/playa d'en bossa. the nicest beach to people watch? probably las salinas- many people go entirely nude. the best beach to party? playa d'en bossa aka the disco beach. and there is a quiet beach just to the south of san antonio, cala tarida and if you want general information try ibiza-spotlight.com they have all the nightly club lineups (they start listing in may)
  11. don't know anything about this year's clubplanet trip, but you can go to bringitonweb.com for a package rate. their rates for a week (i was checking for july) are 1500 (airfare plus 2star accommodations) and 1900 (airfare plus 4star accommodations). and they give you one ticket to manumission either way. if you choose to plan on your own, you can use economytravel.com for your airfare and festivetravel.com to get a hotel or villa. airfare for july is coming up around 900 and you need to fly through barcelona or madrid first.
  12. If you plan on going this year you should get your airplane tix soon. I've been checking several sites every day to see if the $ changes, but there is nothing less than $900 per ticket. A week there will blow away any memories of seeing anyone in NYC, even if it was PVD.
  13. sounds like you had a great time schwinge. sorry spree and i didn't make it out this weekend. we're taking a long-needed break from partying. i guess i ain't hardcore no more.
  14. John Acquaviva has been Djing at some of the biggest raves in America for probably over 7 years.
  15. sorry crommy! As much as spree and I love Timo we are taking a hiatus from clubbing for a while. See you possibly at liquids sometime soon. -k
  16. I think Chris Yun and Nam Jae Yoon are spinning. I've heard them before at some local networking parties (for graphic designers) and they've played some good sets. Progressive trance, some house, and some breaks.
  17. Many of the people I've seen in Europe are much more beautiful than Americans, so they don't obsess about it like we do. Not to say Americans aren't beautiful. They are just too concerned with it, and they tend to overindulge. Hmm, more people dieting but nobody getting thinner. I think Europeans have less choices when it comes to mass consumption, so they are by nature thinner. No supermarkets, just small grocery stores. No wal-marts either. The most ironic thing about that is the European food packaging doesn't have nutrition value labels on the back. Maybe they don't snack. Maybe television isn't the most important thing to them. Maybe they go out and exercise and avoid McDonalds? Maybe they consume more appetite-inhibiting drugs? Whatever the reason, the weight thing is probably even more important to Americans, followed by beauty. Americans want what they prevent themselves from having, probably due to watching TV in the first place.
  18. Being the kvetcher that I am... The best bagel I ever had was a banana walnut bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. Unfortunately I got this upstate in Syracuse.(Who knew???) I have not been able to find this in the bagel capital of the world, NYC. So I'll settle for a poppy or a sesame with plain cream cheese.
  19. Its really unbelievable that some of my friends still have flyers for Storm raves. And NASA, and a bunch of color parties (Red, Blue, Baby Blue) and the old Limelight. Maybe they should be scanned in and archived for a new section of clubplanet. A history section.
  20. I also believe that sometime in mid eighties there were several Detroit persons who were creating electronic music on their own. Almost any electronic music magazine or book has a lovely timeline you can look at for reference. They even get in to the gritty distinctions between trance, techno, hardcore, ambient, breakbeat, and every branch of house imaginable.
  21. I remember...the last two years of high school Kurt Cobain died, and grunge was still in power. I was listening to modern rock (whatever the hell that was...WDRE) along with Hardcore Punk, and Ska. 10,000 Maniacs Pearl Jam Alice in Chains Tori Amos The Beastie Boys!!! and then all those punk bands like 7 seconds, The Bouncing Souls, Shudder to think and Fugazi. My freshman year of college I was introduced to the world of house, trance, and techno and I never played another angst-filled cassette of punk again.
  22. Actually, I am beginning to think that Christmas is the biggest. With Valentines coming in second. Make cards instead...they mean more...even if you're not an artist.
  23. Hi everybody. Just wanted to direct your attention to a great party for tonight. My friend Luna is spinning at Guernica tonight, along with Felix da Housecat. Music is House and techno. It should be an awesome night...She is a great DJ. 169 Avenue B -abgrover
