Perspective is what it's all about. I'm from Miami originally, but always wanted to live in New York, so I finally packed up my bags and got a one-way ticket. Yeah, I did bitch about the cold winter and all, but I knew that it really wasn't all that much to bitch about, and if it really bugged me, I could always hook up a trip to Miami for under $200 roundtrip. Anyway, I didn't move to back here by choice - I lost my job and because I was tired of being a slave to the man, I decided to just become a bum for some time, and Miami seemed like the place to do it... anyway, I'm thru whining for tonight, more tomorrow!

Actually I was in NYC this weekend - went to DT, he kicked ass! There's something about him at Vinyl that just isn't there when he plays at Space. Anyways, I'll see you during the March Mayhem!

Hey Steve! Long time no hear! Well, I did move (back) to Miami... and now miss NYC like hell. So be careful what you wish for!

Right on! When I joined CP in New York, I looked into the Miami section and there was barely any life at all. Now it looks like this joint's happening. However, I really hope that it stays active but not hyperactive and friendly. I think that there is an optimal size for a message board, and beyond that it just gets too hectic and crazy, drama instigators and weirdos show up, and it becomes too difficult to follow people. That's what happened to the New York CP, in my opinion, but still - I've met some of my best friends on that board.

Even if you're into the mellow trance variety, I would still strongly recommend the Global Underground series - from there you can get a good idea of which artist/dj you want to follow most. There are 21 volumes by now (plus the Nubreed spinoff, which is also very good but more house), of which the trancier albums are by Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, and Dave Seaman. Of course, John Digweed never duplicates himself and trascends all genres, but he's the best of the best. Or why don't you go to Grooveman records when it's not busy, listen to as many records as possible, and take note of artists/labels/music genres that you like most? They still let you do that, don't they? That's how I learned who's who - at Satellite Records in New York.
