  1. sorry to hear you're hurting. maybe this perspective will help: breakups are always difficult, but if it wasn't meant to be, then you are better off in the long run to be without that person. that way, you are free (heart and time) to meet the one who is truly for you (and vice versa for the one you just broke up with). if they were meant to be will will/would have already worked out. in any case, you are not wasting your time on a dead end relationship... and ready too meet your true soulmate. this thought gives me peace (at least now that i am older). i know it still hurts, but like everyone says, the pain will go away ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************

  3. theater is definitely a nyc fav. of mine rent is my favorite. cafes in soho/village and the met. ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  4. just look at the top (world class) talent that spin there: PVD Carl Cox Danny Teneglia Sasha and Digweed Anthony Pappa Danny Howells Mauro Picotto Sven Vath Deep Dish Timo Maas etc., etc., etc. top talent, best sound system, super friendly crowd, awesome vibe... what more can you ask for. other clubs like exit and sf are nice and i go to those as well, but IMO twilo is the pinnacle of clubs in nyc. if you've never been there, go feb. 9th for PVD and see for yourself what all the fuss is about ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  5. why??? when i was there this past saturday, it wasn't too crowded (just right), the air conditioner was fine and the cold mist (albeit weak) was refreshing... ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  6. No brainer... Twiloooooooooooo!!! Feb. is going to be C-R-A-Z-Y! ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  7. thanks for helping to expand and clarify some stuff i wrote. your additions definitely helped most of the stuff was written very quickly off the top of my head and as you pointed out, weren't perfect examples of the genres next time, i'll put a bit more thought into it. peace ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  8. i've read this b4, but this one is great! ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  9. is PVD live @ Home one of the best live sets you've ever heard. I mean, I've heard a lot of live sets from PVD and other dj's but this one just stands out. great for house parties ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  10. definitely not an expert on defining the specific genres. i'm not sure many of us have sat around pondering the exact definition of each type of music Sheric has listed. I think most people basically RECOGNIZE the different genres when they hear it and can point out, "that was house" or "that was progressive trance." the easiest thing for me to do, yet very simplistic and generalized is to give examples of DJ's (although this is dangerous b/c most dj's play a variety of genres), songs, venues, etc. as an example of each. i'll use laymen's terms to describe them b/c quite honestly, i don't know the technical ones house - "i'll house you" by the jungle brothers is a perfect example of an old school house music. carl cox tends to play a lot of hard techno and house (as well as other genres) hard house - like someone said b4, a prime example is exit and boris. hard hitting, beat you over the head with bass. trance - sasha, very trancy... gus gus (sasha v. the light), PVD, Oakie... once again, the disclaimer that these djs typically expand many other genres of music but i use as examples progressive (house & trance) - somewhat difficult to distinguish sometimes but progressive can be seen to a great extent in PVD's live @ home - very hard and progressive. techno - go to old days at limelight (early mid 90's)... songs like dominator, injected with a poison. today, sven vath is a perfect example of a good techno dj breakbeat - name speaks for itself. somgs like alasla by alaska and beyond therapy by jmj & richie tribal - once again, a very descriptive title, like someone alse said, music sounds that may remind you of being in the bush in africa. sorry, no songs come to mind. this is the best way i know how to describe the various music not being a dj or music critic. i would imagine many people define their various genres this way. i have simplified everything here (which some may or may not agree with). the bottom line is... i know how to destinguish, most of the time, the different genres of music when i here it. ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  11. and your point is??? i'm not sure how i'm supposed to take your comments... regardless, i have much respect for you since we have intelligently and amicably discussed issues in the past. as for defining music, i've been clubbing for well over 14 years and know the difference between house and trance. admittedly, i don't know every dj, their style and nuances, etc... my point to foxy was - please make logical discussions. i respect all opinions, but like some else nicely put it, please refrain from a cycle of nonsensicle remarks adn rebuttals, especially when the initial topic was not even dissing exit. peace ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  12. once again you seem to be basing your arguments with no substance. besides continually contradicting your claim of public board - can read/write what you want so you are justified in saying what you say, but you chastise others for stating their opinions on false advertisement of music being played at EXIT. spoon and pooh were not dissing exit (although they and i could think of thousands of reason to diss it), they were commenting on the false music advertisement. if they don't like exit, your right, they don't have to go, but it is their right to express their opinions in this PUBLIC forum. they later ask you if you even knew what deep house is and you respond with "what may be deep house for some isn't deep house for others" crap. sorry, but deep house is deep house and trance is trance just like a duck is a duck and a goose is a goose (damn that sounded corny). i really don't mean to jump down your throat but i have seen you argue without any basis much too often, including arguments with me. once again, they are commenting on false music advertisement from promoters at Exit, and are not necesarrily dissing exit. read carefully and know what you are talking about before you make stupid comments.. ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
  13. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE RACIST I will only comment as it relates to the club scene... In the past and to some people today, a "guido" is a derrogatory name given to italians, typically juiced up on roids, taking off there shirts, walking around like tough guys, looking to start trouble because they think they are so tough... they elbow you when they/you walk by, start shit if you look there way, etc... they also crowd the dance floor. To me, I use "guido" not as an ethnic slur, but to describe a TYPE of clubber that may appear to be type I described above, taking out the italian ethnicity aspect... To me, a PERCEIVEDD guido may be of any race (well almost any race)... it's just the "appearance" and PERCEIVED attitude "they" take that makes most people cringe... Notice I say perceived, b/c many of these people stereotyped as "guidos" are actually very cool. I think the negative connotation comes in b/c a lot of people may have had bad experiences with SOME real guidos (of no particular ethnicity) with tough guy attitudes, pushing, shoving, etc... I apologize in advance in case I disrespected anyone. Again, this was not meant to be a hater post. Just wanted to shed some light... at least the way I and some other people see it. Peace ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************

  17. It's GREAT to have Super Mario back!!! Awesome debut: 1 goal, 2 assists. As for the Devil/Ranger debate... What debate??? The fact is this: The DEVILS are Stanley Cup champions!!! Of course there are more overall Ranger fans for numerous reasons (e.g. - longer tenure in region, fan base from all over tri-state area, including NJ... they had noone else to root for, except the Islanders). So what? The fact reamins that the Devils are champions, have a much more talented TEAM with arguably, the best line in the world with Arnott, Sykora and Elias, a great farm system, die hard fans (albeit, admittedly fewer than Ranger fans) and one of the best organizations in pro sports. Admit it Ranger fans, you prolly have a hint of jealousy. I personally don't have anything against the current Ranger team... If the Devils are knocked our of the playoffs, I typically root for the Rangers... the Flyers on the other hand... Good luck to the Rangers and all their fans! But let's get real here, the Devils are a much better team and organization... FACT! Peace ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************

  22. Just wondering if any of you peeps could advise on how to burn long sets, say 120 minutes, on Cds. I've noticed that CDRs only come in 80 minute maximum and the CD burner I just bought (HP 9150) can't (well at least I think it can't) burn single tracks greater than the CD length. Are there any programs that can "span" or break up the single track (eg - PVD Live at Home) like WinZip and burn it over a couple of CDs or... are there longer CDRs? ... Or, any other solutions for that matter... I am indebted to anyone who can help me out ------------------ ************************* "Strangers are just friends waiting to happen." - Old Sage Twilo *************************
