OK, it's like 2:00 AM Saturday night and my friends and I are debating on whether or not to meet up with friends at Limelight, go to Roselands for the 20 trance DJ's or go to Exit. We decide Limelight... We get inside at around 2:30AM, place brings back fond memories and the music is pumpimg (kind of a mix between Sven Vath and Carl Cox). At around 3:15, the place starts clearing out... at 4:30AM the lights go on... I'm like WTF??? The place was closing at 4:30AM??? Can you believe that??? I was at Twilo to 9:30AM Friday night... What gives with the early closing??? dude, why make stupid comments like you only heard about journeys (never went or heard personally) and then say it sucks??? why criticize something you have no clue on??? if you went to twilo last friday for sven vath, then he would have kicked the shit out of you b/c his music was hard and got harder and harder as the night progressed... and yes, he still took you on a journey, only faster and harder. and don't give me this, "exit is pumping hard crap while twilo isn't," cause i was at exit this past saturday and sven was much harder AND BETTER than the EXIT dj this past sat. i don't think it is a matter of talent as rat bastard put it (S&D being mediocre or average). in fact, they are very gifted when it comes to mixing and music... HOWEVER, IMHO, i think S&D sets are way too slow and trancey until after 5AM. i've been to see S&D much more than any of the resident dj's at twilo and it's the same routine, maybe with diferent songs and different order... before you jump down my throat, what i mean is... slow stuff until ~ 6AM and then hard stuff until 11AM. for ME, i wish they could blend hard and fast with slow and winding throughout the night... that's a TRUE journey for ME. i really like S&D (well at least D) and they are definitely well beyond mediocre, but i only enjoy them after 6AM. Diggs ROCKS, Sasha... well i honestly don't know what all the fuss is about (IMO). for ME (stressing ME), it's like being inside an aquarium listening to bubbles blow underwater until 6AM... then someone lets me out and WOW!!! favorite spot to hang out when you're at Twilo? The dance floor is a given, but is there an area in Twilo that you feel very comfortable chillin' at when your not on the dance floor? Personally, I like sitting on the box/stand (bar on left, speakers on right, power bar on far right)... the one right in front of you after you walk into the dance floor section past the "entrance room." This is such a prime location b/c you can: - sit and bob your head up and down while sitting (and resting) and listening to the music - get an awesome view of the action on the dance floor while resting - hit the dance floor at the drop of a dime when a phat beat comes on - and, although I don't do this often, dance like a lunatic on top of the box... other areas are cool like the bleachers and the far lounge area right of the DJ booth. Of course the area where the CNYC members hang out would be cool too . let's try to be fair here. this post was not meant to cause drama, just some advice for a relative novice to twilo and exit. everyone has different tastes and there are good points to BOTH exit and twilo. once again it is personal preference or what mood one is in. my question for you is this: i've been to twilo countless times and i admit that i haven't heard all of the dj's raver mania mentioned. have you? prolly not, so how can you even make the comments that you make??? i just don't understand it... do you even know what genre of electronic music these people play? i may be mistaken of your knowledge on this and if i am wrong, i apologize in advance. one thing i will say about twilo and the music is that my first 3-4 times (yes, that many), i really couldn't appreciate the music that much b/c when i first went there, i really went there just as many people go clubbing for... i didn't know how to differentiate between good djs and mixing of good tunes. every time i go know, i learn more and more and appreciate it more and more. the same goes for any one of the aforementioned cds. first time you listen to it, it's ok... then the more you listen to it, it's like - WOW!!! this is f*cking off the hook! i can't say the same for exit's music though... very poor mixing. don't get me wrong, i like exit as well... for it's own virtues, but for pure music and vibe, twilo is king! just my $0.02. ------------------ ************************* I've got more girls on my tip than a human shish-ka-bob! *************************
