  1. i got an email from the Wynn talking about discount rates starting right after Memorial Day - the funny thing is they said they were then mailing a hard copy brochure with the rates to see what they actually were!
  2. IMO Yoshiesque 1 is one of the best mix CDs ever
  3. remember Boris isn't going to start until 4 or 5am... but your idea makes sense. what i doubt is that 99% of the other people going that nite would know they can buy a Rubber ticket for $10 less. and realistically the vast majority probably don't even buy presales for the afterhours there.
  4. http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?t=303288&highlight=rubber you can go early for Rubber at $30 and stay all nite as it appears.
  5. there is some sort of party that Sunday nite but i can't remember when i saw the flyer. in the past they would have the Club Rubber party there but its at the Empire Ballroom this year.
  6. that nite for Deep Dish was the worst i've seen it in 2006.....when we went for Sasha, i got in via the guest list line in say 3 minutes and i don't think the presale line was any worse....the presale line is the way to go to get in the quickest.... the nights that have early concerts usually lead to clusterf*cks at the door around 11pm...
  7. i do believe the tix sold on vegas.com are exactly as they say - the prices for the tix are higher than the normal door charges so i expect the premium is the no-wait feature. i think you are good to go with those. the business card passes that are handed out for free are the ones which limodriver mentions are the ones you need to examine much more closely.
  8. for the Deep Dish booking, is it just Sharam or both Sharam and Dubfire?
  9. anyone been there yet? Wondering if its worth checking out over Memorial Day weekend when we are in town. So far the things I've read have been pretty complimentary.
  10. its not like they don't have any comps, but like anywhere, you need to know the right people to get one. when the cover is $35 for Sasha, you can bet that they won't be giving out comps to people they don't know or just submit their name on some website. for almost every show EXCEPT for Sasha and Tiesto, you can get on the avalon house guest list which is a discount list (usually around $15 and you have to be there by 11pm or so). usually there are girls in the lobby signing people up for that. here is the email address for you to use... to be on this weeks $15 b4 11.00pm guestlist please reply to this email or email avalonguestlist@yahoo.com with your full name and number of guests by ***4pm on Friday*** ...
  11. With summer just around the corner everyone is preparing for a palm-tree-and-bikini-infested battleground with the Las Vegas nightlife community going non-nocturnal and bringing the battle to the daylight hours at swimming pools up and down the Strip. While Rehab might be firing the opening volley next weekend when they kick-off their third annual summer of chaos, it is Tao that is positioning itself to run and gun in the summertime sun. It is now official: Tao and the Venetian Hotel have formed a partnership that will give the Asian-infused hot spot their very own 14,000-square-foot outdoor entertainment facility and pool deck. The 21-and-over venue is shaping up to be both a daytime and nighttime operation with daylight hours focused on a French Riviera-style beach/pool club. The nighttime party scene expansion will serve as a fourth room to fill with the beautiful, the famous and the party-hungry. The pool will be accessible from the hotel's main pool area as well as from a stairway that is currently being constructed within the nightclub. "We expect the action to be non-stop day and night," noted Tao honcho Jason Strauss who will over-see the operational and marketing efforts of the new sun-soaked venue. "The venue will feature cabanas complete with flat-screen plasma TVs, pool tables and the other requisite perks," he continued, while adding that the 'bathtub babe' concept will certainly be extending to the new venue as well. "We are really excited about this new project and feel that the Las Vegas nightlife community will really love what we are doing. We will be blending party aspects of Ibiza, Monte Carlo and St. Tropez with Las Vegas and doing something no one has really done before in this city!" Those of you oiling up already can slow down just a touch, the venue is still a few months away from its late summer opening date. One thing is for sure though, when it does open, it certainly sounds like it will push Las Vegas nightlife to the next level giving us true outdoor/poolside party venues to compete with similar venues that have enjoyed much success in Miami, Fla. It isn't the only expansion Tao has plans for either. One source told The Eye that they are currently negotiating with several other principles that would result in "brand expansion" venues elsewhere in the property. We're not 100 percent sure what that means, but it sounds promising!
  12. FBS doesn't play a lot of dates like the other well known DJs...maybe not the best example IMO. i think he's pretty selective - the 2 times in LA i saw him was in support for his CDs releases.
  13. you can already buy tix for Rubber - it kind of reminds me of what they do at Avalon where its marketed as 2 different nights but really 1 long nite.
  14. Rubber says they are having a party at Empire from 10pm-10am that Sat nite - you say Boris is spinning....please clarify...
  15. i agree - if you are not a hotel guest or a mega-hot chic it will be extremely tough to get in if he ends up playing.
  16. how about Club Rubber at the Empire Ballroom - not sure but guessing its that Sat nite???? I may have to check that out.
  17. IMO the biggest time in building a venue from scratch is the actual construction of the venue itself. In this case its already done - they basically just have to reconfigure it for a nightclub. To me it seems reasonable that can be done in 6 months or less. RE Crobar LA, i had heard earlier this year they didn't get a cabaret license and the deal was dead. But a friend who does business with Crobar was the one who said its still on schedule and gave VG that info he posted. We'll see - i hope they do open. Crobar Miami is probably my favorite indoor clubbing experience in the US.
  18. i forgot where but i read an article about this. the parties are going to be on Sat afternoons so they don't have to compete with Rehab and can start to draw their own crowd of regulars. They didn't mention bringing in any big DJs. I imagine if the venue is cool enough, it will do fine.
  19. VG - remember last year it was $150 at the door for the Tiesto/Deep Dish bill at Ice? Considering its Memorial Day weekend - i can easily see a $50 presale price and $75-100 at the door
  20. i imagine that if Late Nite Empire booked Tiesto for that Sunday nite, somehow the cost may not be as high as usual if he plays earlier that day for Rehab. Kinda like a bulk discount Just speculation on my part for that...
  21. you are right - i think it was on a monday...maybe it the monday of memorial day weekend i forget.
  22. that would be really cool it Fatboy played.
  23. long story short - they take in 2-3X as much in alcohol sales on the 'asian' nites on fridays as they did when they brought in the big DJs. that's why you haven't seen any EDM DJs there recently except PVD - you do the math
  24. okay - i was told today that this past monday there was a meeting with the Hollywood Police Chief regarding this. their concern was people mixing their own drinks with a subtext of underage celebs drinking as the cause of the new rules. At the moment, its back to normal on this.
