  1. he'll be in LA the 1st friday of June at Avalon.
  2. there was a big article about this a couple of months ago in the Los Angeles Magazine. the bulk of the venue will be occupied by Social Hollywood, a large restaurant run by the China Grill organization. a smaller part will be a new bar run by the former manager of either the Skybar or the restaurant in the Mondrian, i forget exactly. Social was supposed to open in late 2005, then by Valentine's Day. Now, as you said, April 2006 is the target and it appears to be on course for that. a friend peeked his head in the venue the other day and said a lot of work was going on but it looked relatively near opening. also, the new Pam Anderson backed venue on Hollywood Blvd. between Bella and L Scorpion is ready to open and just awaiting its final permits.
  3. i wonder if they fact that many trendy hollywood places let in underage celebs and got called out on it recently, if the bottle service restrictions was 'payback' as you suggest. if you hear anymore on this, i'd be curious to see more info.
  4. no - you've got it down - that's the point of bottle service along with the 'vip' feeling/service. its just the fact you can't mix your own drinks anymore that changed.
  5. http://www.la.com/blog/comments.php?id=2413_0_1_0_C found it! the link above is the only online source i can find but it was verified by a friend that is a well known promoter.
  6. actually, that's one thing i'm wondering - what was the exact reasoning behind this and exactly who is affected? all of City of LA? just some club like Mood, LAX, Tropicana Bar? the whole thing is weird.
  7. i checked out Empire Ballroom the 1st time sunday morning from around 415-830 am. great venue and Faarsheed was killing it. def recommended
  8. anyone actually seen how this works? seems a bit of overkill to me that you can't mix your own drinks anymore. i didn't really believe it when i heard about it a month ago, but i guess its in place now.
  9. its a live show - she's preparing for her summer tour

i guess i meant that is the night they are known for due to the heavy celeb presence, not necessarily the nite they put the most people throw the door.

they have different promoters there every nite so take that under consideration. Wed nite is their biggest nite promoted by Brent Bolthouse and DJ AM spinning. i heard BPM magazine is co-promoting fridays so i've been wanting to check it out but haven't bothered.
  13. there don't seem to be as many pool parties this year as in the past. also, some of the cover charges i've seen are crazy like $50 for Perfecto and Roger Sanchez. i'm hearing you have to get a noise permit for $10K which is the basis behind that.
  14. when you have AM or Z-Trip spin, what is their set times or do they play from open to close?
  15. most of those guys are doing presentations of various technologies they use while spinning or creating tunes. its not really a party per se. i believe this year you have to pay to sit at the seminars but you can check out a lot of the exhibits for free.
  16. that would be cool to see Sanchez at the Victor pool...but what is the point of 8 DJs in a 6 hour set???
  17. i'd get there VERY early if you don't have tix in hand or aren't getting a bottle
