What feelings? I've been weaning myself off that shit for quite a few years now. Emotions are just obnoxious and only get in the way. Calculate the benefits and risks of every situation, and don't let your feelings blind you from your best options.

  2. Well, after about 20 hours over there, I'm finally back at my crib. :D

I didn't get with the stripper, but she did give me an hour long upper body massage which was quite nice.

And yes, I have a g/f of six years, and yes, I am an asshole. And my g/f just found out that her tour got extended by another month, so she's not getting back to the States til June now. Expecting me to keep my pecker outta trouble til then would require an act of god. So me and this go-go have this arrangement where she's gonna be my temp until my g/f gets back. Works out fine if you ask me.

  3. I just called my go-go dancer friend that I've been "playing" with lately. And her stripper friend is over there and she answered the phone, and they both asked me to come over and her mom's not home.

SMACK IT UP, FLIP IT, RUB IT DOWN.... OH NO!!!

And even better, the go-go girl said that she had some leftovers that she's gonna heat up for me, so I actually get to eat dinner tonite also!!!

    [starts singing]

"Jesus loves me, this I know. Now I'm gonna bang dem hoes"

  4. A few years ago in Boston, me and a bunch of my friends went back to my place after this big industrial party. Since the shit closes early up there, we decided to drop around 3am at my place along with a few bumps of K, and then we took some microdots just for good measure. ;)

Anyhoo, so we're partying and having a good time. I'm next to my turntables which are close to the window when I hear this horrible crash around 5:30am. I look out the window and can't even get myself to speak. They had been doing construction outside of my building, and this woman had slammed her car directly into this back-hoe (sp?), so hard, that the front end of her car was bent in a V shape around the tracks of it. Me and the other guys all ran outside while the girls called 911. Mind you, we're candyflippin pretty hard, and we still haven't really changed from our club gear.

So we get outside and the woman is unconscious, and we're trying to talk to her and wake her up without touching her. Luckily a cop was driving by down the street, so we ran and flagged him down. We get back to the wreck and the cop is checkin her out and calling for an abulance. Then he looks at us and asks "Ummm, are you friends of hers?". We look at each other, and all of us are barefoot, a couple are without shirts, we all had long black hair and we're still in our black vinyl/leather pants and what not. And most of us still have makeup on besides the fact that our pupils are about the size of the woman's tires.

So we spit out "Ummm, no. We just heard the crash." And then we made our quick exit back up to my apt.

So anyway, all we learned about the accident was that the woman fell asleep at the wheel. And all I know is that if you and your friends all look like Marilyn Manson and your systems are full of E, K and mescaline, then you don't want to see an accident like that, let alone trying to explain to a cop what happened.

. . . the reason I suggest this over the technics is because:

    A) you may not find that spinning is your thing (and YES this can happen, and NO you don't want to be 1500+ bucks down on equipment when you come to that epiphany, if indeed you do . . )

    B) At first the gemini's will work great . . but as time goes on, after say a year or so of abuse, the belts on the Geminis will slowly start to slip during playback . . This causes the beatmatching to become exponentially more difficult because now the tables are working against you . . . YOu'll have to work twice as hard . . which will improve your skill incredibly . .

. . .after you learn on shitty tables, buying the technics will be like upgrading a Geo Metro to a Mercedes Benz SL 600 . . . .

Exactly. I've mentioned this before, but I learned on a pair of Geminis (though they were direct drive) and I'm still happy I did so. As phunk said, learning on shitty decks makes you work harder at perfecting your skills. Then if you ever upgrade to 1200s, you can focus more on the creative side of mixing since you'll already have developed the technical skills.

    These are rivetheads:

Generally, rivetheads can be found stomping at clubs to industrial, coldwave, power electronics, noize and EBM music. Visually, they generally have a militant theme to their look such as cargos tucked into their paratrooper boots and such, plus they'll usually be in black. Whatever you do, don't call them goth since they generally despise that subculture. Whereas goths find solace in misery and art, rivetheads are about war, machines and cold, abrasive music.

really? i've been with two girls that were both pierced there. :D

  8. I usually start my sets of with schranz (minimal party techno) to get the night started. Something that's got a good beat for those diehards that will dance to anything, yet not too anthem-atic since people are still filing into the club. Once the dancefloor starts filling up, I'll play with a few different styles to see which ones they're reacting to best. Then I'll really start building my set from there after I've found what kinda beats they're getting into. A typical set that I'll play goes something like: schranz, hard house, nrg/trance, techno-industrial and dark schranz/techno, and then I'll end the night by building it up into some gabber/hardcore with a few anthems mixed in to finish them off.

As far as where I get my tracks, a lot of the shit I play I edit at home before I'll play out. A lot of the songs I play don't seem quite finished in their original form, so I'll add more of a driving beat to them before I play them out. Also, a lot of the stuff I play I'll get directly from the labels that release them. I know which labels release the stuff that I like, so I won't bother much with sifting thru crates in a record store when it seems like a lot of stuff in record stores is misplaced in the wrong genres anyway. And usually, I'll probably listen to a couple hundred tracks every week, but I usually only end up keeping 25 of them that I'll stick in my catalog.

  9. Cool site.

Note to people that have pop-up disablers installed, turn your shit off to view the message from the 'trapped' individual.

That shit is mad industrial. For those not into the industrial scene, 'true' industrial has always been about the combination of technology and darkness, along with what is being done to you.

I'm interested in seeing what kinda soundtrack they put together for this flick.

  10. Actually, I don't even care what the hell people look like, as long as they're stompin on that dancefloor. While I was DJing last night I took a moment to look over the crowd. Of course, the "freaky" people were out in full force, namely the cyber-punks, rivetheads, vamps, goths, etc. But I also saw quite a few ravers last night, as well as quite a few "normal" people. Yes, I even saw a guy wearing tan khakis going nuts on the dancefloor as I was playing my gabber set at the end of the night. That's my favorite thing about playing for this party, is that people are mad cool with each other no matter what they're lookin like. You show me another place where you can see a guy wearing khakis and a hardcore rivethead dancing next to each other to some hard gabber beats without any attitudes flaring, and I'll go check it out.

IMO it's the only party worth going to on saturdays..

I can see how you might not like the music there (from viewing your charts).. It's all good tho :)

Yeah, just from looking at your list, I saw some schranz and techno on there which I didn't hear JP even come close to playing. Maybe it was just a bad night when I checked it out. But yeah, I didn't dig the crowd there at all, so I guess I'll just stick to my freaky parties. Thanks for the response, though. ;)

Damn, that shit brings back some memories. I used to live up there years ago and my g/f was a go-go at Avalon, Axis and Karma. Do they still got that cottage cheese container over that light above the block next to the DJ booth at Axis? This was years ago, but whenever a big girl would get up on the block to dance, they'd turn on that light which wasn't really noticeable to that many people, but those who knew the joke would start laughin their asses off. Ah, good times.

I have to admit that I've respected your music knowledge and that you aren't among the ones constantly posting bullshit vocal tracks up here.... but Factory? Before I make any assumptions, I'd like to hear hear your views on SF since I usually try not to draw any conclusions before I have all the info. I've been there once and couldn't stand the music there. So fill me in.
