  1. oops! that was supposed to be me and my scary avatar. damn cookies! hmmm....cookies
  2. did he actually say they were stupid? seriously, did anyone see jon stewart last night? he had some religious right dude on complaining that the gay irish wanted to march in the saint patrick's day parade and how it offended him. some funny funny shit. he kept stating how the irish can't be gay - how it isn't possible, and how doing this would destroy the sanctity and beauty of this reserved catholoic conservative event. of course jon kept cutting to pics of guys guzzling beer and women flashing folks and falling down drunk. turns out this offended conservative guy wasn't even irish or catholic. in fact, he's a protestant with an orthadox jewish mother. priceless shit
  3. seriously, people who love roxy fridays will probably dislike the music style and the vibe. crowd is definitely older. deb, a bunch of my friends (like bob and j w and melissa) tend to go. the party isn't really a secret.
  4. the flying dream is very common. its related to the common (but usually controllable) desire to jump off of cliffs and stuff. not jump to your death, but while looking out to the horizon having the idea that u can fly out to it. both have to do with the desire to be free and untethered, and provide a release from all the worries and stuff u might have.
  5. I've been 3 or 4 times definitely the best party in NYC mostly filled with regulars, and a very mixed crowd with no B and T. It is on Sunday though, and if u go out Saturdays that makes it a tough call.
  6. huge fan my seats are right next to the cowbell dude in the right field bleachers one of my favorite chants: meet the mets beat the mets come on out and defeat the mets
  7. well, thank god fleury will be gone next year. the rangers will make up for the 10 mill for bure with ulanov's 2 and fleury's 7. another problem the rangers have is that Leetch (who is awesome) just doesn't play the same when he's got the C on his chest. this was true when mess was gone for those 2 or 3 years too. he's just a better player when he's got the A on his jersey. kinda makes u wonder what might happen next year. ???
  8. ok, good points but: u missed a few players like sundstrom, zubov and kovalev for example (and there were a few others if i didn't get stuff mixed up). graves and buekaboom and lowe had, if i'm not mistaken, been there for a few years and played like a team. and they were tough, team leader types. the rangers weren't just going out and getting the biggest names of the oldest players and trying to put them on the team. then as the season progressed and they had to fill a few holes they went out and picked up a few additional veterans and were careful about CHEMESTRY when they did so. they have a HUGE payroll now. its ridiculous. they make decisions based on ticket draw, not winning. otherwise messier wouldn't have been brought back. it would be nice to see the rangers get a core of 8 or so talented players and have a good team for a few years with players u could start to associate with instead of a new star every year. cobbling stars together obviously doesn't work or the rangers would be one of the best teams in the league. i don't debate that bure is better than ulanov, but how about what happens next year? or the year after that? we gonna trade a 40 year old richter for something? and Bure ain't gonna get them to the finals. the only people who care that they make it at least one round are the ticket collectors at the garden.
  9. i am a HUGE rangers fan. but this trade SUCKS!!! having the highest pay roll doesn't make u a winning team. management thinks that having a bunch of stars is enough to pack the garden, and they are probably right. why can't we build a team? the 94 team was a team with some veterans added late. not just a group of mercenaries. they loved to play the game.
  10. tippings like everything else: you get back what u put in. always a buck - pretty much no matter how expensive or cheap the drink is. if i don't have singles, i'll tip $5 and not tip on the next round. when the bartender buys back i usually give them 4 or 5 bucks per drink as a tip. if its more than 4 drinks though, i just give them 20 bucks. if i'm with a big group or at a fancy sit down place i'll just tip a bunch up front so no hassles and the bartender / waiter(tress) knows they are gonna get taken care of. but i will say this: i don't think that u need to tip every time at a really crowded place where the bartenders are impersonal and u'r never gonna get better service. if a bartender makes 500 drinks a night at a club, that 500 bucks. that's a lot of dough, and i don't feel bad for them. when its your local bar or a smaller place then its different and u gotta be sure to take care of your peeps.
  11. i always tip a buck on the first bottle of water. unless they give me attitude for some reason.

    From the North

Hey! Just finished reading that big ass WMC thread u guys got going. I love many of those eating spots . Was gonna stay at the Astor, but they booked that place right up reserved for the "talent" as soon as they announced the dates anyway, i been down your way a bunch of times, but had a few questions if u could help out: 1. is dress code any different this week than other weeks? and door policy? like, to get into Crobar on Sat., do i need to get there real early? I'll be with my girl and maybe some other mixed crowd. we'd love to be able to wear bouncy sneaks and stuff but don't know what the deal is. 2. SPACE - only big club down your way i haven't been too. Gonna go at least twice. Wondering what dress code is for SPACE and also if the 3 day pass thing is worth it? i mean, would it really bypass a huge line? stuff like that. Is it a card they give u, or do u have to go to will call each night? and how much is a normal night at SPaCE anyways? 3. does anyone know what time the wednesday Nikki Beach thing (Mixology Carl Cox, Seb Fontaine, Dave Ralph, LTJ Bukem, Mark Lewis) starts? is it daytime or night time? 4. u guys all know each other? or just board buddies? Thanks!!! Can't wait to get back down. Haven't been your way since December or so.
  15. as for the lights signifying a path to heaven...well, the represent different stuff for different peeps. some of us don't believe in heaven. to me they basically say that u can't kill our spirit and are a big old FUCK U on top of that. i think its very cool to look out across the river and see them at night. yes, i also lost lots of peeps 9-11 - but i don't think that's a requirement for having something to say about this.
  16. how the fuck do u know that? u don't know what i did down there in the first few days. as someone else that can "walk the walk", i def don't think that the lights make us more likely to be attacked. i think that they make a nice memorial, but something more permanent would be better, and money could be better spent. (sorry, didn't read this whole thread only the first few b4 some attitude pissed me off)
  17. I flew to miami from LGA in early december. I wasn't carrying anything at the time but got picked for two random searches: 1. checked bags: they didn't x-ray everyone, but picked me to get mine x-rayed - u have to walk to a special area with a security person and they put your bags through....they are looking for weapons and explosives, not a small quantity of substances. 2. carryon check: again, they checked me randomly, i think cause i had lots of electronics stuff in my carryon. they take a wand with a strip of paper on it and stick it in your bag. then a computer thing analyzes the paper strip. They are searching for explosives residue and stuff. I assume that they aren't checking for pot or X this way, but who knows? neither of these substantially delayed me getting on the plane. If u'r bringing some substance with you, i suggest on body where a pat down won't find it or in your checked bags.
  18. how so? are u that afraid of my avatar? i'm gonna be out at all those things and hitting the beach during the day girl!!!
