  1. US women's hockey loses to Sweden in a shootout! First ever loss to a country other than Canada
  2. In men's hockey, good that the US woke up to beat Kazahkstan Gionta and DiPietro representin' Meanwhile, the Swiss scored an upset over the Czechs, who have pretty much lost Hasek to injury Also, Lundqvist didn't do so well in Sweden's 5-0 loss to Russia
  3. I guess I'll start something for the Olympics USA takes 1-2 in snowboarding (half-pipe), the same event where they swept in 2002 Danny Kass from NJ (who some might know, as I remember being mentioned last time) repeated as Silver medalist, with the Flying Tomato taking Gold Bode Miller fails to medal in the downhill (as does Daron Rahlves), but he has more chances Michelle Kwan dropped out of the figure skating competition. Watch the TV ratings go down. Emily Hughes from Long Island, and sister of 2002 champ Sarah Hughes, will be taking her place. in women's ice hockey, Canada beat Italy yesterday, 16-0, then Russia today, 12-0
  4. There's hardly ever talk about high school sports here, but I think this is worth mentioning... Not long after Kobe's game, hot diggity double damn! http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hschool/story/387910p-329027c.html http://www.amny.com/sports/basketball/ny-spgirl024610182feb02,0,6728483.story?coll=am-homepage-mezz One girl (Ephiphany Prince) scored 113 points! How many minutes are played in games here? I'm guessing fewer than the NBA.
  5. yup, pretty good game on Sunday Saturday was more exciting though, with both the Rangers (vs Bruins) and Devils (vs Islanders) going to shootouts
  6. it's Seahawks vs. Steelers at the big game
  7. hot damn! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10983004/
  8. I was there til a little after 4 I wasn't feeling his set too much early on, but maybe that was just me, and I thought it got better later on. Place was pretty well packed. Just before I left, P.Diddy was in the booth, and went on the mic a few times. Also, fantastic opening set by Jason Jollins, which I enjoyed much more than Felix's set.
  9. what a win and what a season for the ChiSox
  10. Patience... It'll come around when Wright, Reyes, Jacobs, Diaz, and Heilman mature and improve. Hopefully Beltran will play to his capabilities at that time, and let's hope that the Mets also get a better bullpen with a real closer. Maybe it'll come quicker if the Mets can get Manny. They did finish with a winning record, and improve to 3rd place this year, with the 5th best record in the NL, and a better record than the Padres. Peter Gammons wrote (I think on ESPN Insider) that the Mets were his selection for most improved team in the NL
  11. 18 innings One of the most amazing games! Berkman grand slam to put the Astros back in the game Ausmus homer to tie the game with 2 outs in the 9th Clemens pinch-hitting then pitching in relief to get the win rookie Burke hitting walk-off home run!
  12. terrible road trip, with 5 losses, all by just 1 or 2 runs and the Cardinals still left to play quite a fall from being a win away from the wild card lead (but pedro not getting it done) let's hope the Mets at least finish over .500
  13. up and down continues for the Mets, as the Pods take the rubber game, 2-1 scary collision between Beltran and Cameron wasted terrific effort by Glavine, which included 3 hits of his own, the best batting performance out of all the Mets let's hope they can go to LA and sweep the Dodgers
  14. the footage of him answering questions to reporters while working out on the driveway of his house was hilarious!
  15. Bad loss Tuesday night, but Mets were able to bounce back last night with a 9-1 win Benson had a 1-hit shutout going into the 9th inning 6 RBI for Wright, including a 3-run homer!
  16. Zambrano pitches well again, giving up just 2 runs in 7 innings, but AGAIN, the Mets fail to score any runs for him Now Pedro will be called on to get series split, instead of the win that we had all hoped for... and also to bring the Mets back to .500 for the 23rd time this season
  17. yeah, Wang's injury really sucks for the Yanks dang, 17-1 loss to the Sox... again looks like Redding's Yankee career may have lasted just one inning However, gotta give him credit for striking out both Ortiz and Ramirez back-to-back also, in ex-Yankee news, Mike Stanton didn't have a good start with the Nats, balking in the winning run before throwing a pitch (he came in in the bottom of the 10th in a 3-3 tie, with runners on 1st and 3rd, and the balk was called on a pickoff throw to 1st). Very questionable call though. But anyways, so in his last 2 games: 0.0 innings, 1 pitch, 2 game-ending runs given up
  18. Mets did well against Phillies, let the Marlins series get away, then did really well against the Nationals (ironic that Pedro was the only Mets pitcher who lost in that series) But these first two games (with one more to go) against the Pirates were simply a crushing blow. Unless they can come up with an incredible 2nd half run like the Astros last year, their playoff hopes are over. Especially if they continue playing like they have. It was almost exactly a month ago when the Mets were a game away from being in first place in the NL East (but didn't get it when they lost the game to the Giants), and look at how things have changed since. It seems that the turning point was right after Pedro's gem vs the Astros, when they had their best record of the season.
  19. the dj you are talking about is actually the 2nd dj it was jason jollins until 1am, then sean cusack from 1 - 3:45 jason jollins had complete control of the crowd and was spinning an amazing set, sean imo completely killed the vibe where jason left off luckily armin showed up and saved the party
  20. i heard that bleacher seat tickets were going for $2700!
  21. anyone go to see his game against Astros earlier tonight? Damn, I was thinking about going, but too bad I couldn't make it out. Simply sick... had a no-hitter going into 7th inning before giving up the home run, and finished by striking out the side in order, ending with the guy who hit the homer. Froze all three batters for all 3 third strikes in that last inning. There was also some bench-clearing drama when Floyd got hit by a pitch - there's been some history between him and Oswalt.
  22. Man, Mets had a chance to share the lead with Nationals if they won both games of the doubleheader. Now they need to win the second game to stay out of last place. It is a bit surprising that Braves and Marlins have struggled lately. Mets better take advantage of it.
  23. amazing how the "Amazin's" gave away that game, the first game, and the series
