  1. ha ha ha.... you guys! I'd really like him to play a little longer, I mean nobody is dropping 50 bucks at the door to listen to Liquid Todd all night. He SHOULD do 4 hours, but for him he's lucky to do 4 hours on 4 gigs... Does anyone know why he's limited his set times now? Bored? Is this what happens when DJ's make it big? They stop spinning?
  2. I stayed at the Beachcomber last year for about 120/night and the room was slightly below average... it was ok, but probably want something a little better. Beachcomber wasn't far from the action so that was the good thing, but I'm lookin for CHEAP places... Right now San Juan hotel is like 100/night. Maybe it'll be better to rent out an apt for a week, not sure... What are some cheap good places that are near the action? I don't want to do too much walking... The conference ends saturday, and I'm sure everyone will be flyin back on Sunday... tickets are really expensive flyin back on sunday...
  3. How is JP? What kind of music does he spin? Progressive? Trance? What kind of crowd? Asian? Guido? I haven't read anything about Ferry Corsten making a NY appearance during this time, but told by a friend (who really isn't in the know)... can anyone else confirm this? Ferry's agenda link is down.
  4. Well, since you're going from a Sunday thru Wednesday it'll be tough finding a place... I'd check the Vegas message board for that. I know Tiesto & Oakenfold are there on Jan 1. But after that I'm not sure. I'll be there until the 4th (but I have no clue where I'll go either).
  5. That's quite true. But again a 10 year old soggy t-shirt and torn up dirty jeans might not be a style thing. Or of course the door guy coulda been an ass, and just not like you. And if that's the case, that sucks man. But I can't complain about Crobar, simply b/c most people with a pulse get in. Unlike most places where you need a girl or just sit outside for days before getting in. (Heck, even Avalon did that once, to me).
  6. Crobar isn't necessarily a "dance" club in the mold of what you guys are looking for. They like to add a little class. Like the one in miami. It isn't space! It isn't vinyl! So for those that didn't get in with a t-shirt... I just say duh! It's like saying I went to a five star restaurant and got thrown out for not wearing a tie & coat. Maybe places like Avalon or Spirit will let it go, but Crobar isn't like that.
  7. I was tryin to figure out if I should do it again this year. The lineup isn't as enticing as in years past. The Killers Crystal Method Mark Farina Jason Bentley Paul Oakenfold John Digweed - 6 hr set. So for the first time in three years, I won't be there. I'll be in Vegas, and then catch Tiesto on Day 1. I think Tiesto is in LA also for New Years. Oakenfold will be in Vegas for Day one. Should be pretty good... have fun man!
  8. I think flights are pretty cheap on New Years eve... New Years only has a couple parties listed so far, anyone know any others. Day 1 with Tiesto looks nice... and since its day one, it won't be ridiculously expensive like most new years events. I've spent the last three new years flying to LA for Giant's new years (this year 6 hr set by Digweed, oakie, mark farina...) It's time for Vegas baby... anyone else goin?
  9. showed up at the door, used club planet's list, and wasn't even on it, despite getting the email confirmation. No free passes... that means, no entry for me. Took my business elsewhere. Hope ppl had fun... I hate that bs... false advertising... isn't that against the law?
  10. I wasn't planning on going out, but a friend from binghamton is coming down just for tonight. So, since its free via clubplanet guestlist (before midnight)... sounds good to me. I don't expect much of a crowd tonight though.
  11. Jersey? Long Island? Staten Island? What difference does it make, all ya'll New Yorkers are ugly... its just a level of ugliness, that's all. And sorry to hear about the door situation. All you can do is not give them your business. And it might prevent me from going there (never been there). Bouncers telling you to try other clubs, or to come back is a bit ironic. They think they're better, they forget they work at a fuckin door! They're NOBODY in the grand scheme of life.
  12. That isn't Oakenfold charging 50. When he's charging 25-35 everywhelse in the US and 50 in NY... It isn't Oakenfold. Example. For New Years in LA, the lineup for Digweed, Oakenfold, Crystal Method, and Mark Farina (there will be more announced later) will run 75.00 Anyone want to take a guess how much PVD alone will be for New Years in NY? 150? I'm hoping for winning contests, or reduced guestlists or something for Oakenfold.
  13. You know a lot of the criticisms are right on point, so you won't hear me saying otherwise. And for those not going... If its one thing I can NOT stand here in NY (ok there's about a million) is the overcrowdedness especially when some of the bigger name DJ's show up. So Oakie at Crobar sounds excellent. Definitely hitting this up, in fact it'll be the ONLY thing I hit up for the remainder of 2004. (Digweed, Oakie, Farina, and Method, +more in LA sound good though) But PVD & Armin definitely bring what trance is supposed to be, or energy... can't complain there. Oaky just never disappoints when I see him. In Boston on July 4, it was a great party... then went to the grammy release party in late July (the LA one) and same thing. And currently the track that's all over A State of Trance via IDT radio, and that Armin's label has signed was dropped by Oakie at WMC's Essential Selection. (Interstate's - I Found U). So he still has some of what he's lost. He can't mix and I'm not going there to see the spinning. But his track selection is very good, always has been, always will be. Now its a problem of him coming on for like someone else said, 2 minutes, and not being the headliner. He's now the "other guy"... talk about a guy that's no longer interested in being the man and getting bashed b/c of it! So let's keep this Oakie thing on the DL... I wouldn't mind an empty crowd, more room for me to dance anyways . And while some of his albums I can't stand (bunkka or whatever its called), his creamfields CD is decent, some are very old tracks, but some are quite good. Let's hope the tix for Oakie isn't for 40 bucks...
  14. help? I'm about to go clubbin by myself... none of my NY friends like electronic music, so its me, myself, and I tonight at Crobar! If you're going for the music, it doesn't really matter that you don't have anyone to talk to... who knows, you might people there!
  15. You know, I think that its rather rare in NY... b/c we all see sick lineups at the WMC, in Europe... LA has some great ones too... But b/c of all the competition, its rare you get this in NYC... even for New Years its usually just one headliner... Sasha/Junkie XL/PVD that was the lineup I saw for New Years about 3 years ago in Los Angeles... (a time when I didn't know who any of them were!)
  16. Well, I'm a doctor, if you guys really need one! Not licensed yet, but have MD behind my name if that is sufficient! ha ha ha... I was able to attend the grammy release in LA in July (same type of thing, free, same poster fonts & styles), it was a blast, although I got too drunk and don't remember Crystal Method or BT's set, but he did drop Godspeed from what I heard. Oaky was great and Junkie XL just played the fader on previously recorded set. Zabiela was around somewhere but didn't spin. As for this one, I'm still waiting for a reply. If I get it, I'll hit it up by myself. If I don't, I guess I'll miss it. Anyone going to the Billboard Dance Summit thing? (I guess that's another thread)... Oh, the lines were RIDICULOUS for that party...luckily we knew somebody up front. So get there early if you're goin...
  17. I thought there was a sticky on this thing, but what are the best clubs on these nights? I remember somebody saying Studio 54 on Tuesdays... I'll be there from the 26-29... wanted to see where the locals of vegas hang out on the weekdays. Thanks in advance!!!
  18. See, I don't have any idea what you just said... (probably why)... I went to Arc/Vinyl a couple times, for Danny T... the crowd just seemed a lot younger, like I was partying with 15 year olds, poorly dressed, i guess "garage-esque", but the sound was the best in NY by far... like I said, the crowd varies from place to place, city to city... Only once have I been to a set where the entire crowd came together... and it was the Mayan Theatre (best place in the US), in Los Angeles for Ferry Corsten about 4 years ago... he dropped Punk the entire place was screaming along... that was pretty sick... but for the most part, of all the places I've been to, I've never seen it... WMC, NYC, DC, Boston, LA, SF... none... And I hope you aren't referring to a rolling crowd or anything... But its all good... everyone has their own opinion to judge a night.... for me if the music stinks, that well about does it!
  19. Funny, I wasn't all that interested in Saeed & Palash b/c of their slower tracks... and was pleasantly surprised at Saeed's... Behrouz didn't go on until like 4 am! And had a very sweet opening track, if anyone knows it, please pass it along! As for the crowd... That's one thing I'm surprised about here in NYC...way too judgment on the crowd. It's not like I'm talkin to most of them in there anyways! It's about the music, always has always will be. You could fill the room up with donkeys, and I'll still be I don't care... but maybe that's just me. Overall, it was an ok night... I would've liked to stick around longer for Behrouz (the dude i came to see anyways)... Saeed surprised me, they're going to do their own things now, so maybe this is a prelude? For their true fans, I hope not...for me...sounds good!
  20. WHAT???? Behrouz is AFTER Saeed & Palash? NOOOOOOOO..... I wanted to come early check out Behrouz and then bolt for another party I have to attend... crapola!!! are you sure????
  21. ok back to digger thread!!! Digweed's style is much different than Sasha's especially when Sasha goes solo... isn't it? I may have to pass on Digger.... not really into his music, didn't like it all that much at the conference.
  22. i know you weren't... just givin love to the mac! its all good... its all about the music anyway!
  23. ha ha ha... don't be rippin on the mac baby.... in Los Angeles, at Avalon, formerly the Palace... they use Powerbooks a lot. PVD had em... And just recently when the Grammy's released a new category for dance, they had a special tuesday party with Oakenfold, Junkie XL, BT, Zabiela, and Crystal Method... and they had at least 3 powerbooks up front... (mac lover)
  24. 35.00 for Sasha? yikes! I got in for Sander for 15.00! and actually just went to space for sander and got in for free... love club space! But I wanted to know where the cheap guestlist was... I have a pretty big group coming, for my graduation, and we're not dropping 35/head for Sasha... 15-20 fine. It's not like the other clubs don't have anybody spinning... and for cheaper. (plus we'd rather spend that money on the booz, than on cover).
