Most of the lunch-oriented or sports-oriented bars in Silverlake to Hollywood do incredible business from about 11 am to 3 pm... sometimes more packed (and people more drunk) than the night before ... after that, you can crawl to a group of neighbor watering holes on melrose / fairfax area that do great business with hot girls taking a breather from shopping ... or pop into one of the patio promoted lounges doing their house music thing (not all the time, like H Canteen), and then you can kick it back to Hollywood, Sunset Strip area for early evening and everything is packed. Some reason, the vibe is better, more frlendly-- assumedly becuase Sunday doesnt have that hookup reputation that a Fri or Sat night does..... but needless to say, Sundays are just as slutty if you want them to be, and the music sometimes just as good.

My favorite night to party in LA lately is Sunday... because the party starts at noon lol.... you can be at four venues between 2 pm and 9pm and have hit packed houses while only driving a few miles.

You know, each year I admire less and less small venue, lounge, and bar djs. This year I passed out to friends cds that encompassed 1 1/2 hr compliations (per genre liking of the recepient ..... some latin, some house, etc)..... I gotta say its sad that the response from the recepients was "dayum, this is just as good or better than what they are playing in the clubs". Thats sad. Lounge, small venues, and Bars (that are paying, $200-700 a night easily) are having djs who a) dont blend. dont keep beats c) dont respond to crowded or empty dancefloors Its gone from half ass to junk at places that should know better what not to book.

Im of the sentiment, wherever I party, that if I have a great experience (like you did at Pure) to return again. There is a comfort level to partying at the same place that delivered a home run before rather than trying something new that you might spend the whole night, if it goes poorly, kicking yourself that you didnt stay with your past favorite. So stick with pure.

The article was reviewing a trend, not reviewing venues, and hence had no reason to name the venues because that was not the focus of the article. Your suggestion that lalate doesnt care to name a venue by name when reviewing the venue is erroneous. On CP alone we are going into the third year of lalate-started Club Review Threads that have been stickies in cp city/cities. In the case of Vegas you can see on the first page of the lalate-started Club Review Thread the then moderator of CPVegas giving a thumbs up. To suggest that lalate has not facilitated others to impart their experiences here for others to read is flat out false. One venue was previewed on cp by lalate first before it opened, and reviewed by lalate first. People may not agree about either others reviews of a venue ... or may dislike the person making the post lol .... but to say lalate doesnt review venues is false.

Not responding to what you are saying but, in the spectrum of nightlife, it's better to post as much as you can rather than not. People don't always agree with you. But for everyone that doesnt, there might be someone who does.
