  1. I think it's because national security takes precedence over most other issues for the majority of people. I don't know the economic platforms of either candidate in depth as much as you too. But I should. I am interested in what the two of you (and anyone else, for that matter) has to say.
  2. the fact remains that Saddam was continuously playing games with UN inspectors. He kicked them out, he invited them back in, he gave them restricted access. don't write my post off as useless.
  3. Honestly, I really believe that Saddam had WMD. Why wouldn't he let inspectors in? Do you think he was stalling in order to destroy or hide the weapons? Almost the entire terrain of Iraq is desert. Do you think we've checked every square inch of the country? The Iraqi-Syrian border. Could they have been moved to Syria? Iraq has always had a relationship with Syria, Saddam with fellow Ba'ath leader Hafez al-Asad (Ba'athism involves the establishment of a pan-Arab state) Although they aided the U.S. in the '91 Gulf War, they have become increasingly anti-American after recent developments including the U.S. pro-Israel stance and U.S. involvement in Lebanon. Now I know what you are thinking. "What's next? Do we invade Syria?" I honestly don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to it. Same thing with Iran. I hate to admit it but I feel that the U.S. must be on the offensive in the war on terror. Perhaps diplomacy will prevail. It didn't work in Iraq, but the recent breakthrough with the disarmament of Libya gives us hope. Saddam was extremely powerful and extremely insane, with an extreme hatred for the United States. That, in conjunction with harboring Hezbollah/Hamas factions, and possible WMD, poses a great threat to the U.S. and its citizens. IMO, the greatest threat (slightly ahead of Iran). So yes, I do feel MUCH safer.
  4. I think you are seeing more and more moderacy in political parties nowadays. In 2008 the GOP could nominate Giuliani, an ideal example of a moderate Republican... socially liberal, financially conservative. This is a great way to keep yourself in the game with the all-important undecided voter, and something that I think will become more visible in the near future.
  5. fuck... I guess I shouldn't vote this year.
  6. whenever i hear him on a mixtape he's nice. but other than that I think he's a herb.
  7. I don't think it has anything to do with "survival of the fittest". As much as danger is involved, military service can open a lot of doors for people who really didn't have much of a future. Not to sound like a recruiter but a young adult can learn a trade, earn money for school, start a family, and join a fraternity that can make available plenty of contacts for future employment. BTW, I only know of a handful of people who are currently serving overseas, and from what I know, the overall consensus is that our soldiers support our president and believe in what we are doing in Iraq. However, I have no evidence to back that up and I am aware that there is most likely some bias (where I live, the type of people I know, etc.) Does anyone else agree/disagree? I can't find any info on this and I imagine it is almost impossible to find.
  8. Give me an example of how the gov't can breech our freedoms. I'm not being a smartass, I am just curious and I don't know where I stand on this issue.
  9. I apoligize if there was already a discussion on this, but I don't understand why the Patriot Act is being opposed.
  10. If you have no plans of harming American citizens, then you can think what you want to think. I don't care if you dislike my country, chances are I don't like yours. Geo-political images and opinions are constantly changing. They always have, always will.
  11. I am currently thinking of looking for a used Lincoln LS. But people have told me that they aren't well-built and give a lot of problems. Has anyone heard anything similar? Any comments, positive or negative?
  12. I have a great deal of respect for this Kamal Nawash and his organization. Whenever the statement came up that "We shouldn't blame all Muslims for terrorism." I would answer with the fact that I had never seen a Muslim leader stand up and condemn such attacks to a greater Muslim audience. (I apoligize if there has been an instance that I have missed) But I will be sure to take this into account whenever a future discussion arises and I definitely plan on relaying the idea of this organization and their website as well.
  13. I know that both candidates have condemned it, but this garbage with the Swift Boat Vets and Texans for Truth has to stop. I don't think I beleive either of them.
  14. anyone who has terrorist ambitions against the United States has always had them, regardless of the current U.S. activity in Iraq and Afghanistan.
  15. song is sick. it sounds like an old freestyle song.
  16. 1. We are safer not noly b/c Saddam has been arrested but also because there are hundreds of terrorists currently sitting in cages in Guantanamo Bay Not to mention the disarmament of Libya THROUGH DIPLOMACY. 2. Should I care that 99% of the world hates us? I really don't care if a bunch of Germans and Italians protest the Bush administration. What effect do they have on me? Aside from a little bit of attitude if I'm ever in Europe (which is nothing new). These people are not terrorists. 3. You think Bush dragged our country's image through the dirt? What about that smooth bastard before him?

  18. In comparison to most Democrats, we are. Tell me if this make sense: A party's platform opposes appropriations to fight a war, opposes pre-emptive strikes, and opposes the Patriot Act, all the while claiming that they are committed to national security and the war on terror. Democrats have no touch with reality it's not even funny.
