  1. It became more about the drugs. Music was still important, but when you have management involved in peddling the drugs, of course you are going to attract more degenerates. The crowds in SF's last few years were terrible and helped destroy that place. JP falling off and doing his marathon sets didn't help either. BTW Copa, the best beats and some of the most legendary parties of that era (Juniorverse, Sasha/Digweed, Digweed/Tenaglia, Cox/Tenaglia, Hawtin/Cox) were held at Twilo, not SF.
  2. Fabio wore his favorite kneepads to this party.
  3. Saturdays are a tough door for sure. There is no rule really for getting in there. You can have girls with you and still be turned away. It helps if you are there several times and you've become a familiar face to the door people. That's luckily why I never have problems getting in. Patterson killed it last night. Great night.
  4. I know this thread is old but I recommend everyone read this story even though it's long. I had a friend drive drunk recently and end up dead while killing two other people in the process. That's the flip side of this story, not everyone ends up this lucky. If you plan to go out solo and get banged up, take public transportation or make sure someone sober will be driving. It's not worth the risk.
  5. Tony Draper used to have a packed Exit years ago going nuts week in and week out. I don't know what he sounds like now, but back then he played noise, the type of music you could only enjoy if you were effed up on shitloads of chemicals. It was garbage. Making the crowd go nuts isn't always the best litmus test of whether a DJ is good or not. You mentioned something about DT's dirtbag look crowd earlier. I remember when Sound Factory lived up to its name of "The Pretty People Place" a few years ago. Yes, back in the day the crowd was hot, like the crowd at Crobar on many nights today. Nowadays, most of the crowd falls into the dirtbag category. Last time I went to a JP party (or just look on any picture thread on his board for current evidence) most of those kids looked like fashion victims that got hit in the face with a baseball bat.
  6. Well since he's the man behind the pots and pans, I agree. Point is, JP doesn't even do many of the productions that have his name.
  7. White Rabbit was produced by the Latin Headhunterz. For the record, Jim Heinz has been the main guy behind many of JP's productions.
  8. There's no way that's real. The girl is small but she has her hands at her side. To fit through the hoop she'd have be about 18 inches across including her arms. It's bullshit.
  9. Exactly my thoughts too. This was one of the few nights where Crobar actually had any sort of vibe, as opposed to people standing around with their beers in hand like you find on most nights. Everyone was dancing and into the party. It's hard not to when Erick is on the decks. He knows how to get a crowd moving like few others. I wasn't a big fan of the crowd, but I will admit, they were UP FOR IT and full of energy, which made for a great party.
  10. I thought it was worth it. Is showed up late so the crowd wasn't too much of a headache for me. Had a very good time. Erick was serving up some bangers the time I was there and the crowd was really into it. People dancing all over the place, on top of bars, on top of tables. It was a wild morning. Don't expect to hear much funk from Morillo, at least not in New York. In Europe, he tends to have a more classic house style where you'll hear a lot of those funky and soulful house tracks. He plays big room beats in New York and that's been his history in the recent past.
  11. I don't know what's worse, that picture you just posted, or that you think that picture is hot.
  12. He's just one of many "big names" that think Fanciulli is the shit. Regardless, his sets speak for themselves.
  13. He's not really a small name. He just hasn't had much exposure here in the states. He's blowing up in Europe. Even Danny T thinks Fanciulli is the next big thing. He's got an immense amount of talent. I think it's only a matter of time before he's considered one of the best.
  14. I thought the MASK was all about peace and luff? What's going on here?
  15. Ante, my large foreheaded Croat friend, stick to bashing gmccookny. You'll have better luck there. The screen name was actually a goof on an inside joke with someone on these boards, as is the picture of the guy in my avatar. Nice (but incredibly lame) attempt at humor though.
  16. Not particularly, since I wasn't upset to begin with. I just call them like I see them. Phatman, if you prefer to be ignorant, there's nothing wrong with that. That's next to impossible for me to do since this has been my life for the past 12 years. It's natural for me to be critical when I don't hear a set that I'd expect from a DJ. That doesn't mean, however, that I can't have a good time even when the DJ is abominable. I did have a good time (and usually make the most out of any night) at Crobar, but it definitely wasn't due to Sander.
  17. I said he wasn't up to his own usual standard you illiterate fuckwit. And guess what boards like this are for, genius? So people can bash or praise whomever they saw the previous weekend, among other things. This might come as a shocker to you, but people won't always agree (although you are obviously too dense to appreciate that). But please do give Sander my regards
  18. Dude, save the fucking condascension. I've heard Sander many times before over several years. This set was not up to his usual standard. His set was extremely monotonous and he put little effort into his mixing. On another note, aside from being a good looking crowd, the crowd at Crobar absolutely blows.
  19. He had problems with his connecting flight.
  20. Very weak set. The guy was probably sleep deprived from travelling and spinning 3 nights in a row, but that's no excuse for a half-ass performance.
  21. I should have been more clear, as a headliner.
  22. Four people were stabbed, but no one was killed. Big fights going on involving many people and the bouncers were absolutely useless to do anything to get the situation under control. One person had a bottle cracked over their head. As if the club scene needed any more free publicity.
  23. It's about time this man gets to work a room like this.
