Nice work uncovering the conspiracy Sherlock.

Big fuckin shock. New York has never been the same for mega clubs since the shitstorm that happened at Twilo and Tunnel. I learned a few years after the fact that I guy I was acquainted with at Sound Factory was in fact a DEA agent and you would never have known by looking at him. Get used to it, that person partying next to you may be NYPD or DEA.

Finally I can agree with someone. As big a DT fan as I am, I have to say this song is so overrated its ridiculous. It's just a uncomplicated, generic-sounding hard tribal track. If DJ Joe Schmoe put out this track, no one would pay it much attention. DT has produced much better in his career and everyone knows it. I haven't heard the remixes yet, so I'll reserve judgment on those tracks until I have. The original is nothing special.

As the years go by Morillo just keeps going down hill. He's immensely successful, but as a DJ, he's not that great anymore IMO.

Victor Calderon - most overrated dj period
dkny8 replied to cynstam21's topic in New York / New Jersey
Agreed on this. He's far from underrated. The man has played and continues to play all over the country and world, from Paris, London, Israel, Tokyo to Portugal etc. He's played alongside some of the best DJs in the world e.g., Vibe, Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, Cox and in some of the best clubs in the world e.g., Stereo, Ageha etc. His productions skills are also top notch. Calderone may not have the notoriety that a Tenaglia, Digweed, Lawler or Howells may have, but he's definitely not underrated. -
That web site has nothing to do with Richard Grant. It's registered to some guy associated with lipstickandrouge.com, whatever that is.

Victor Calderon - most overrated dj period

It was Alex Santer's remix. Don't know how Victor was earlier on in the night as I showed up later, but his set was excellent during the time I was there. -
Why don't you do a search and you will see that this topic has been beaten to a bloody pulp several hundred times.

He's been working on that track for four years actually. DT has gotten lazy when it comes to productions and compilations. The Vinyl/Arc Be Yourself compilation is another project that will see the light of day no time soon. Dibiza is scheduled for 2006 release.

I'll be chilling out at a house party. Clubs are a suckers' game on NYE.

DANNY TENAGLIA@ASSETERIA (show) review. (one word)

Definitely the best Danny set I've heard all year. DT is on FIRE lately. -
Why is Dance Music so Anti-producer/ Pro-DJ?
dkny8 replied to edubz's topic in New York / New Jersey
Lee Burridge for example. You don't HAVE to produce to be successful, but it's a lot harder to do if you're not. Another thing is, there are many DJs nowadays who become producers AFTER they make it big. Howells is a good example of that; he didn't start off his career by producing. -
EXCELLENT set by DT. What a night.

The fuck are you talking about? Carl Cox plays CDs almost exclusively now. That's a FACT. He had been playing vinyl for 30 years but now has fully switched over to CDs for the same reasons cited by Tiesto. Carl will normally spin with 3 CDJs now.

Lots of big name DJs don't buy much of their stuff. When you get as big as DJs like Digweed and Tenaglia, you have promos, edits, CDRs and exclusive music flying out of your ass, long before they are released (assuming they are ever released). Sasha is so big that he apparently has people that work for him that screen music, because he can't keep up with it all. With Beatport and other online sites I buy almost all my stuff, and whatever I can't get there I buy on vinyl.

What it means to be "underground" (pacha related)
dkny8 replied to silverbull's topic in New York / New Jersey
Gabe, you wouldn't get so much grief if you didn't like a condascending asshole on messageboards who feels he needs to preach to people. I'm sure you're a cool guy in person, we go to many of the exact same parties and have similar interests in music, but I'm not on here bashing one genre of music or one club or DJ. And believe me dude, I've been around A LOT longer than you. Ultimately, it's just fucking music, it's not a crusade so there's no need to be preachy or come off sounding like a know-it-all prick. Is it important in my life? Yes. Does my life revolve around it? FUCK NO. So just let people be and like what they like. Maybe you just don't realize it, but sit back and read some of your posts some day and read how condascending you sound. If you didn't talk down other genres and DJs and clubs, there would never be threads like this. You come off as a hypocrite, preaching positivity and then being negative. -
Was that an attempt at humor? Fuck off retard.

What it means to be "underground" (pacha related)
dkny8 replied to silverbull's topic in New York / New Jersey
I guess your buddies Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez and others aren't "keeping it real" by playing places like Crobar right? They'd be sellouts according to you, no? There is nothing underground about a place like Crobar. -
It was a drug forfeiture, it doesn't matter that he was acquitted.

Who fuckin cares if he was there or wasn't there? It sure as hell ain't deserving of its own thread.

Did a brain dead four-year old design your web site? Or was that you?
