    Tao Beach

We had a group of 15 (more gals) so we did a cabana one our days there, and I too have a few friends at Tao Beach. Beautiful ladies abound to be sure! Don't remember who the DJs were. Local guys, solid. Perfect grooves, perfect vibe for the scene. Great sound system in that place, they didn't even come close to pushing it while we were there but it's easy to see that place can seriously rock. Nice individual soundsystems in each cabana, too. No serious lines, but anytime I poked my head out front or went to the bathroom, there were always a few people hovering, hoping to get in. At first a few of our gals were a bit shy about shedding their tops, but thankfully those Tao Pasties help ease things a bit. Not to mention the Taojitos. Mmmm.

    Tao Beach

Spent a few days at Tao Beach in the past two weeks... incredible! Really, really, really impressed and pleased with what they've done there. The layout is great, the cabanas are AMAZING, the staff exceptional, and the crowd is wonderful. Whether you hit it on a big party day or a chill weekday, it's an excellent spot. By far my favorite pool spot in Vegas... one of the best pool vibes I've enjoyed anywhere in the world.
  3. Was there on the 5th. Not a bad time... lots of locals that night so a very fun crowd. First time in a while that I've gone clubbing at the Palms where the gals I was with weren't complaining about being grabbed and bumped every 5 seconds. My first time at Moon. I'll write a proper review in the future, but a few quickies for now... While it's a nice place overall, it's a bit disappointing. Given the location and the space it seems like they could have done so much more with it. Killer lighting in the main room but the sound is muddy. Props for a big, open dance floor in the main room that people aren't constantly walking through. Side room/lounge extremely disappointing... very poor sound and the placement of the DJ table (not even a booth!) and dance floor is horrible. Which is a real shame because Chris Garcia was killing it otherwise. Excellent staff, from hosts to bar to tables to security. Very friendly, professional and fast. While this common on industry nights around, it's not always the case. Playboy Club serves as an excellent refuge from the booming music upstairs. Gorgeous interior, gorgeous staff (duh) and I really like how the main bar backs up against the glass wall, looking out towards the strip. And kudos for offering $25 tables on industry night.
  4. Detn8or... what can I say... not only is it great to see you bringing in Q-Bert, but it shows that your Icehouse events (and I suspect everything you do) is respectful of the full range of dance/club music genres. Outstanding bro... simply outstanding...
  5. I love that these "new" acts have all been around for over 15 years (with the exception of Souls of Mischief, who formed in 1993). This is "not my opinion but a fact." As for the "old school" not paying respect to any othese "wack new acts," what then do you have to say about one of your favorite awards, the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors? You know, the one that shows guys like Afrika Bambaataa, Rakim, Kane, and Grandmaster Flash giving standing ovations to the likes of Common, Snoop, Kanye West, Xzibit and Nelly? This too is "not my opinion but a fact."
  6. I can't speak for anyone else, but my jibes against some of Freeze's bookings are in response to Freeze putting down everyone else's bookings. And venues. And employees. And clientele. I absolutely LIVE for music. And when someone insults my music, my friends, and my venues, that's an insult to me.
  7. Will hopefully be pulling into town just in time for Sunday night... but daaaaamn I wish I could be there this Wednesday!
  8. Most everyone on this board has loads of respect for the big names that Freeze brings in to town. And for the most part, people respect the role Freeze himself has played in the roots of hip-hop culture. What we don't respect is Freeze slagging off on EVERYBODY ELSE. Freeze has a long history on this board of being negative towards every other person and every other thing in the Vegas nightclub industry. His participation in this board has been limited to posting flyers for his own events and insulting everyone and everything else. Perhaps Freeze thinks this is all OK because the idea of a "battle" is part and parcel of hip-hop culture. Whatever. Battles are fought between willing participants, and are decided not by the bravado or self-belief but rather by winning approval of the crowd.
  9. Yup... yup... and yup... that's what Tao is like pretty much any night, you can bet that'll be the case for Morillo over MDW... I can think of two occasions where I've seen a table of only guys at Tao... one was a group of local industry guys... the other was a relatively high roller who booked his table through an independent host.
  10. To be honest this is kind of nailing it on the head here... after reading epope's response, and thinking about my own situation, I need to echo and support these words. I've gotten to know a lot of folks working a lot of doors in the last 18 months or so -- not to mention walked in thanks to epope on many occasions -- so the truth is that I really haven't been subjected to as much (or any) scrutiny in regards to my shirt and/or shoes. Additionally, on many of the nights I've headed out in a t-shirt, I've worn a jacket of some sort as well, at least when walking in. Not to mention aside from walking in with "known" people, I've also been fortunate enough to head out with some very beautiful people -- men as well as women, but let's be honest... when you've got truly gorgeous women in your group, once again the scrutiny lightens. Thus I'd like to add to epope's advice by suggesting you gotta take into consideration who you're with... bunch of guys, no gals... t-shirts would probably be a bad idea. So all that said... to list specific clubs you can rock nice t-shirts at... well I can tell you specific clubs where I recall seeing a fair number of guys in stylish t-shirts. In order of Ts being the most common: Empire, Seamless, Body English, Drai's, Jet. And that really only goes for what people are wearing inside... I know a lot of the guys are wearing a jacket of some sort on the way through the door. If I'm wearing a T that's what I always do. All just my experience/observation.
  11. Killer review bro. Love all the unique details you tossed in there, a fun read!
  12. Depends. Assuming you're talking a modern all-black, laceless Puma loafer or one of their unique designs, should be no problem. But all-black of the classic cotton/canvas with basic laces Puma style... well, you're giving someone at the door the opportunity to consider that to be an "athletic shoe." I *love* funky Puma designs and aside from 2-3 occasions where the rest of the outfit called for dress shoes, that's all I've worn to Vegas clubs for the past 2 years and have never had a problem at the door.
  13. Provided you're rocking some decent pants and nice shoes, it's unlikely you'll have a problem getting into most any joint in town. That said, attitude and presentation goes a long, long, long way. On a busy night at a top club, a group of 4+ guys all wearing Ts might have a bit more trouble than a group of 4+ wearing (nice) collared shirts. And of course being an ass and pretending your shit don't stink will trump anything you wear. I don't think there's a night that ever goes by without witnessing at least one blockhead arguing with a doorman about how much his shirt costs... who gives a shit if it's a $500 shirt, if it looks like crap (especially tears/holes) you ain't getting in. If you're still curious about the common dress, you can always check out the club piccies at napkinnights or similar sites.
  14. No need for a separate room... Tabu is empty enough on Sundays, that'll afford all the privacy you and Kane need.
  15. Given the recent rush of posers and frauds, thought I'd jump in here and give my support to Vegas Status VIP. I've worked with a LOT of different hosts in Vegas over the years, and I can promise you that Vegas Status is one of only two services I've come across that have met all of the following criteria on every single occasion that I've dealt with them: 1. Absolute reliability. They don't back out on any promise they make, don't exaggerate about who they are or what they offer, and take care of their clients in a timely fashion. 2. Detailed, personal and direct knowledge and experience. Want to know what's going down on a particular weekend and/or a particular location before it's announce to the public? Talk to Vegas Status. Not only are they informed, but they're honest about every situation. Look no further than their educating CP readers last fall about the status of Rehab 2007. 3. Connections, connections, connections! Holy crap, these guys know EVERYONE. I'm not just talking about knowing hosts that work the front of the house. Hell, it only takes is a few repeat visits to clubs for people (even schmucks like me) in order to "know" hosts all over town. VIP services are about so much more than simply getting in. It's about getting the best locations, meeting the best people, having the best time. 4. Down to earth. These guys are honest, humble and relaxed. They're not trying to impress anyone, they don't throw around an ego and they never wear chips on their shoulders. DISCLAIMER: I won't deny that a few of the individuals representing Vegas Status VIP are friends of mine. What's important to note is that they've become friends of mine largely because they've been an important part of the best nights I've ever spent in Vegas.
  16. Now Sultan, too! Sweeeeeet.
  17. Big Daddy Kane... lookin' kinda more like Big Chubby Kane these days...

    Tao Beach

Having spoken directly with a few of the gang involved in the planning and management of Tao beach, it sounds like it's going to be a truly special spot... and in my opinion one of the few things that Vegas has really been lacking up to this point. For those familiar with the global club scene... one way to imagine what they'll be doing at Tao Beach is to picture what you'll find at many Nikki Beach locations... ...and entrance ability will vary accordingly depending on the day/night... some days you'll be able to walk right in and relax... other days you're gonna need to drop the cash or be with someone pretty damn special... or both...
  19. Congrats! Hope to see you out again sometime soon...

  21. How about posting some of these detailed reviews here? Would certainly be beneficial for the board... whether to provide some insight/opinion on the venue or simply to back up why you love to recommend it. Not sure what you're referring to... "locales" as in different locations, or are you referring to "locals" as in people who live in Vegas? Of all people to slam someone else for their spelling.

This whole "fredlate.com" thing this is just hehateme being an ass. The domain name hasn't even been purchased.
  23. Jet. Tryst. Moon. All will be a great time on Saturday and fulfill your desire to share the club with hot women.
  24. From what I've been told BE is definitely planning on hosting an event the Wednesday before MDW... can't say who the DJ is but in my opinion, every time that BE opens its doors for a night, that's one of the best parties you're going to find. Last year Tabu hosted a fair amount of headliner DJs on Wednesdays as part of their IT night promotions, which typically draw a decent local following. And Tangerine often pushes hard on Wednesdays. Otherwise, Wednesday is generall a pretty chill night in town.
