where did you hear that shit? some liberal teacher?
how old are you, because with that answer I would say... 19
... you're so smart ... so witty ...

What is a MUSLIM? aren't they Irish, Chinese,Arab,Indian,Pakistani?? hmm..lets just try to racially profile Brown Skin people..makes whole lotta sense???
Very true. This reminds me of a scene in the great Spike Lee film "Malcom X" where Malcom X goes to the Mecca only to find all skin colors, in unity. This is a great scene.

I wouldn't mind a quick padding at the entrance of the clubs like the old times when they checked for guns.

Well I guess we found a dtourist member in the making. First of all, why did u get the impression Im hating on Danny ? Simply because Im stating the facts? This isnt a thread about is Danny better than PVD or vice versa. Im juist pointing out that on nites when a big name, in this case and other cases, specifically PVD, has had a larger crowd for the most part of the nite. Nobody is bashing either DJ or ppl who see the DJs. People gotta stop starting drama when there is absolutely nothing there to begin with. If u dont believe me, u can ask Mike Bindra ureself. He will tell u the same.
Listen, you did sound all righteous with comments like "But like I said, its just a small minority that refuse to hit up anything that is non-house related" ... When you make such a comment you should expect an answer or two trying to correct it (and you should react to it with something different than "gee another obsessed fan").
As if only the closed-minded-house-lovers refuse to go hear pvd ... well, I go to House music parties (different Kinds), Rock parties, Electro (Larry Tee's), also Jazz clubs once in a while. I guess I'm closed minded.
I explained why I'm not featuring PVD and his crowd at all.
(Also, name dropping's unnecessary.)

I think your (a little shady towards Danny) post deserves some clarifications:
I'll take DT over PVD any day, and that's not because he's not playing house or whatever, it's because I'll take a NYC legend over any European DJ any day.Well then have fun with 50 other house heads while everybody and their mother(literally in some cases) is at PVD.But like I said, its just a small minority that refuse to hit up anything that is non-house related.
Danny has more dimension in his mix and depth in his music than PVD or whoever just spent 10h on a plane crossing the Atlantic to play in "New York City".
Did you get the memo about Be Yourself being afterhours?Vinyl was almost dead on Fri nites when PVD was in town. And frankly I went to hear PVD back at Twilo and I couldn't care less about the little kids and their "night out to hear the famous dj mixmag told us to buy the cd it's so great yeah" ...
I'd rather have a great time with 50 of DT real New York crowd than 2000 of those PVD weekends wannabes.
(condescending rant's over)

Funny how for the gays it's exactly the oppositethere's just something about a female body that I find irresistible that a male body lacks... -
there is usually a rule of thumb that you don't wear hats in NYC clubs.
"Sweety Darling , You can never have enough hats, gloves and shoes"

big room: Spirit (sound)
small room: Cielo (line-up)
ridiculously big room: Central Park! (summerstages)
ridiculously small room: Love (sound)

I think I'll show up for Victor this time. I have a feeling it's going to be packed and great.

Crobar will NEVER have good sound with 50 foot ceilings
Palladium rocked, and it was bigger than Crobar (among other things).
-
You could crobar.com it; but then again that site looks like it's on crack (flashing, spinning, trembling like crazy).
-
He's one of the best rock drummers of all time.
Whatever, rock drummers don't stand a chance next to any Jazz drummer any day of the week, period.
As for drums in club, most of the time the drummer's just drum-shitting over the song, so yeah it's annoying.
I did see some exception (was it the animal?) where it really added a kick to the party; but most of the time it's just lame.

nope Angel left nearly 3 years ago, David and I redid that sound system and put a whole new system in, that system changed aswell 3 years ago we have been nominated and won many awards for the new analog system we built. David Bought the club and renovated the whole place.
Thanks for the clarification.

is a place in montreal called Stereo, the owner is David Morales
I thought Stereo was Angel Moraes' club, not David Morales (who does play there often).
-
whos spinning ?
i believe the (defunct) paradise garage opening djs.
-
Oh, I wasn't talking about size, more about architecture soundness if we can call it that.no way. Crobar is small compared to the Saint...The saint was fucking massive....
Palladium Was also massive.
limelight was bigger back then to, more room's, ALOT more room's.
-
how come all these old clubs from back in the day look so much better than the current ones?
Crobar can hold his own against those, space-wise. Limelight/Avalon too imho.
-
Let's see: Avalon's no more; Avalon's team moved to Spirit who's not featuring Made Events, Peter Rauhofer and Junior Vasquez anymore; and JP's playing at Roxy gay Saturdays...
After the storm, who'll be where?
My bet:
Peter Rauhofer moves to Crobar for a once a month Saturday a la Victor Calderone.
Made Events stays at Spirit.
Spirit Saturdays become straight to leave the gay Saturdays only to Roxy; and most of the Fridays/Saturdays Avalon line-up make it there too, as-is.
Junior's at Spirit once a month afterhours.
Roxy gay Saturdays becomes the new 1/month home of JP after his huge success on his first Saturday (in addition to some other dates).
DT becomes a Spirit or Crobar resident, or waits for Pacha?
-
So basically only dick suckers are getting into this party? how cute
Only male dick suckers, moron. See you there.
-
I can just see the straight JP fans trying to get into Roxy next Saturday,Derrick is going to have a field day.
Specially if they try to act all cool and call him "Derrick" instead of "Derek" ...

All I got to say is STFU!!!!!! All this talk about how "A CLUB SHOULD BE" or
“SPIRIT SUCKS BECAUSE" give me a fucking break, it's a fucking place to dance and have fun no to cater to all you knuckle heads personally! @! WTF why don't some of you do what some of these people have been doing for years? I mean sure spirit is an OK club but it can be better and by complaining isn’t going to help the place, maybe if you write to some of the promoters on some positive feed back? NA that wont be good right? Lol geezzz I hate it when people talk about how things SHOULD be when they were never in there shoes! Just STFU and DANCE!
Well, if whoever's in charge has/had the same open attitude towards its customers' reflexion and needs, it sure won't/didn't improve that club. What's your problem? You work there or something? You should relax a little bit, it's just a club you know.
-
spirit is too damn small and the sound system isn't even that great...
use some q-tips, the sound at spirit dwarfs roxy's.
-
That NYC space was home of 2 of the most legendary clubs of this city, ever: The (Original) Sound Factory and Twilo.
How did Spirit managed to get it wrong and basically create an unexciting club there? What do people think?
IMHO, I think they completely messed up both the architecture of the club and the theme; and despite some really good efforts (Sound System, more liberal hours, line-up) they just were doomed because of it.
What's people opinion in this?
PS: I assume the club at least partially failed when you compare it to the previous clubs in that space and the fact that they were never able to create a real strong identity and a serious following.

All of the choice CD's are kind of bland. The reason is because they are tracks that influenced the DJ's therefore they made the CD. None of them sound like a live mix by any of the choice dj's.
The best Choice CD is Jeff Mills though!
I completely disagree with you re: Frankie Knuckles and Derrick Carter's CDs. Both are mixed perfecty and not bland at all (how can 'Yazoo-Situation' into 'Sing Sing Sing' into 'Baby wants to ride' (House of Trix mind you) be bland? And that Jean-Paul Gaultier track? Fierce! or should I say superbe!)
Avalon @ Spirit What do you guys think about this?
