Glad to hear it was a great night. The last time I went there when it was crowded was for Memorial Day, and it was the most intense party I've been to this year. Joe really creates a unique and amazing energy in a room.One of the best parties Ive been to!And you're right, he plays the classics like no one else.
Will check it out again for sure next time I get the chance.

When I used to go too early during the first phase of Sacred Rhythms, it was a little empty. But listening to Joe play to a uncrowded place is a rare pleasure too. He's one of the top top Djs in the world in my opinion, not accessible to anyone though.
I'd show up a little after 11 to enjoy the show at 12.
And yes, the sound system is the best in the city and one of the best in my experience (same class as Twilo/Vinyl/Stereo/...).

I have a feeling the people who prefer a shorter set are more of a '12-6am' crowd than an afterhours one?
I don't think the Arc closing was 'filled' with anything for example. Some dj have tons of good records and they can't even fit all of them in a 12hours set!

You really think so? I've heard him couple of times and it's really whatever. Songs are cute, selection's fun. But mixing wise and -more importantly- "set construction"-wise it's nowhere near the standard of a serious NYC dj. I'll give you that he plays a wide variety of sounds, but a jukebox does too.
It's fine for a cute party, but not for a serious night of music-journey a la DT for example.

lol...for me if I stay out past say 1.p.m. at a club, i start to feel really guilty thinking about how my family must think i am a complete cracked out loser and have to hear all their b.s lol so i don't like staying out that late...pathetic i know

12 hours is good; but I like 5am-5pm better than midnight-noon; with a good warm up from 5am - 7am. I always like the early afternoons in clubs (noon to 5pm).

Alegria's been at Crobar on holiday weekends for the last year+! What's the surprise about? Don't care much about the party but nothing new there.

Actually DT played very little classics (probably no more than a handfull). Blackwater and Voodoo Ray are the two that stood out for most, but that was the only 2.

I don't care one second for JP, not now, not when he was at SF. If you're waiting for me to give you reasons why he is a good dj: don't, because I have no idea what the fuss is about.
I just felt a great outburst of hate on this thread I thought it was quite funny given that it's just a Dj playing some records.
