Lets squash this for once and for all. Have I *ever* come up on here and bragged about my skills? Do you think i *care* how hard it is to spin vinyl compared to cue points and cd sample disks? The club's DJ team and I have only one goal, and that is to keep patrons happy. Repeat business is the best indication of success in that area. I also maintain a huge mailing list for the club and personally respond to every email sent to me (djmw@freevegasclubs.com).

So please STOP trying to suck me into this whole battle mentality. We're not 12 years old anymore. I'm not looking to compete against any djs because I don't have anything to prove except that I can entertain a room of people who come to the club. I don't care if I use a CD or a freakin 8 track player. It's completely irrelevant to my customers.

I am tight with DJ Rectangle who can outspin and outchop nearly anyone. Yes, it is possible to be friends with DJs who are better than you. We don't sit there and piss at each other; we learn from each other and have fun doing it.

I know the (queen of England) (MJ) (Grand master flash)

The creator os scratching DJ grand wizard Theodore.

So what does that mean?

Are you saying your boy will battle DJ P?

Oh and will you bring lil john to mc?

so we can hear hid dope rhymes...

Attention Mr. Freeze

You know, some of us as you can tell that regularly post on this board have for months avoided commenting on your .... "discussion" ... regarding OPM. But it's now going on 1/2 year. So .. it's probably time to make a few comments after not doing so for 6 months.

Before I start, I think most people would agree and thank you for your contribution to hip hop. Your contribution as been wonderful. Thank you.

Nevertheless, let's get down to business. This is a messageboard. Not an awards show.

1. You never contribute to any discussion that doesnt concern yourself.

The biggest thing that bothers me about your posts is that you dont come here to be helpful. I cant recall in 6 months you ever saying anything

- helpful

- supportive

- complimentary

- humorous.

- or let alone on any topic that doesnt concern you.

Food in vegas? Strippers in Vegas? Hotels in Vegas? Afterhours in Vegas? You never have a comment.

How about the tons of questions from people coming to town that want to know where to go the other 6 days of the week? No opinion? You dont go out?

Is it that you maybe ... dont care to be helpful to other people ... or maybe you dont give a hoot cuz it doesnt concern your own gig?

It is appears that every post you make is about you and yourself and your gig.

2. You say its not personal but you use personal attacks against masterweb.

There is nothing wrong with you expressing your opinion that a club cannt be a hiphop club if its purely a serato operatoin, or similar.

But what drives me nuts is you say "its not personal" your disagreement with masterweb yet you regularly call him names. The board doesnt go more than 60 days without you calling him "fat" and "webmaster".

Please explain. Thank you.

Your right,Its it is personal i definitly miss spoke my self.

Thank you for brieng it to my attention.

Respect

Luckily it doesn't really matter since we ended up bringing 1800 people Sunday night, including some people who work at Tabu (since I guess Tabu's relatively small venue employs a skeleton crew on Sundays for some reason). Besides I find it amazingly funny that you quantify anything by numbers, since according to you, popularity has nothing to do with the REAL anyway LOL.

If there was a show of horses and monkeys people who'd go, you do nothing to bring revenue, NOTHING...

Oh and the spot you work for is not a hip hop club just remember.

Pretty sad that a club in a closed mall fills up while your widdle night in a 24/7 huge casino can't even keep a tiny venue busy. Admit it Freeze, your stay in Vegas will be quite limited so enjoy annoying the fuck out of everyone while you can. "Rah Rah Rah Yap Yap Yap"

Since you didnt respond to my post, Guess the answer to why you never contribute to any discussion that doesnt concern yourself ... is because is you dont care about anyone else (or people's trips to vegas, their questions, their seeking advice) but yourself and your gig.

So since we are back on the topic of you again, do we have a head count how many people went to this Tabu event on Sunday? Was there even a line to get in?

Whereas you are rubbing elbows with the power elite of MGM/Mirage?

For that matter, what do you have to do with Tabu the other 6 nights a week?

I spend my time looking for 2 year preconstruction condo's.

I purchased every mid and high rise property that has come out and gone vertical on and off the strip.

I don't have to work another day in my life.

I just have a great time.

And still get lots of royalty checks with all the TV & Movies and Video's iv done over the years.

According to Clark County you did not obtain a liquor license, a promoter's business license or an advertising license. That, my friend means you are breaking the law, and MGM/Tabu just put themselves in a vulnerable position.

The following is for educational purposes only...

(702) 455-4171

The Department of Business License has developed a complaints line that provides information on how to send a business licensing complaint. We ask that all complaints be in written form. A sample form can be found by clicking on the forms link on our website

Lets squash this for once and for all. Have I *ever* come up on here and bragged about my skills?

First of all that comment was towards greenie....sorry that I didn't include his quote in my reply....well here it is...if it makes everything clearer. This is what he said:

I've spent a great amount of time standing behind the booth at OPM, watching Masterweb cut, scratch, beatmatch, blend and layer.

then I said:

Masterweb knows how to scratch on HIS cd player, which only requires very little skill. I can do that, and I know that he uses cue points to incorprate samples of other songs, which also only requires a push of a button......

So don't get so defensive...i wasn't trying to get you "sucked" into the battle mentaility.

Do you think i *care* how hard it is to spin vinyl compared to cue points and cd sample disks?

Of course not, because you could care less for the art of DJing. You are not an true artist, and willing to expand your limit...you are just like all the fake djs that are in it for the money and nothing else. You could care less for the culture or the music. If country music were to make you rich, you would play that within a heart beat. Oh by the way, hows that SPAM treating you?

The club's DJ team and I have only one goal, and that is to keep patrons happy. Repeat business is the best indication of success in that area. I also maintain a huge mailing list for the club and personally respond to every email sent to me (djmw@freevegasclubs.com).

I don't care if I use a CD or a freakin 8 track player. It's completely irrelevant to my customers.

Sorry Masterweb, but you are in a whole world of compititon. You are competing with all the clubs in Vegas. That's compition whether you like it or not. It doesn't matter if we are 12 or 1 or 50, you are in compititon with everyone. If the world didn't compete, then we wouldn't be able to evolve. Nothing will change, and everything would sit still and be DEAD.

I am tight with DJ Rectangle who can outspin and outchop nearly anyone. Yes, it is possible to be friends with DJs who are better than you. We don't sit there and piss at each other; we learn from each other and have fun doing it.

Oh yeah? Why are you bring in DJ rectagle into the mix. He's not involved in our discussion. I am friends with a lot of great DJs (including Rec) that are 100 times better than me as well as beginners. I am willing to learn and teach those who are willing to share and to be taught. So don't give this "learn from each other" bull shit...because if you are really willing to learn, then learn from Mr. Freeze!!!! Because hands down he's is one of the icons of hip-hop culture which you thrive on today and give no respect to.

A little conflicting huh?

So does that mean you're getting moneys from the door and bar under the table? Either way you cut it, the only legal way to get a piece of the door or bar is to obtain a valid promoter's business license and an advertising license if you advertise a liquor serving establishment and make money from it.

You really do feel you are the all mighty authority, don't you? How in the world can you disrespect ANY dj and say he is not an artist simply because he spins popular music. Are you so shallow that you feel the only way an artist can be true and expressive is to play music people don't request? You're so wrapped up in YOUR world that you feel anyone who doesn't play old school in a new school room can't be a true artist. That is so warped and RETARDED.

Is it SO hard to grasp that this IS a business. Just because people make money does not take away from an art. It's the ultimate VALIDATION when people line up to pay to hear an artist do his thing.

Okay Outofthebox, I think you have this post and the other post mixed up. I am saying that Masterweb can scratch on his CD Player because his CD Player is easier to operate than turntables. So therefore, making a scratch sound and flashing (this mean bring in a sample of another song into the current song that's playing) is relatively easier than doing it on vinyl or serato on turntables. I have not said anything about playing radio hits is NOT an art form. Playing radio hits is just playing songs, developing DJing skills (whether playing funk, house, rock, jiggy hip hop, or underground hip hop) is an art form itself. And Masterweb is not trying to get better at DJing, all he knows is to play the radio hits and ghetto songs that make the crowd dance. And to me, that's not a real DJ.

Let's just stop it right here, because I don't think you know what I'm trying to convey here. And it's rather annoying going in circles with you.

So peace out brother!!!!!

And to me, that's not a real DJ.

Perhaps you don't realize that "DJ" is short for Disc Jockey, a term that's been around since the 1940s, and has always meant simply "an individual who plays pre-recorded music for the enjoyment of others."

We all know what you're trying to convey. Not only do we get it, but we agree with it. Masterweb and others are not battle DJs, they're not vinyl jugglers, they're not going to the far corners of their record collection to entertain the crowd with unique track selections.

Perhaps you don't get the fact that OPM (and others) refer to what they offer as "hip-hop" simply because that's what the clubgoers, musicians, and industry call "hip-hop". Right or wrong, it's reality. Especially in Vegas.

This is a community message board, based around the concept that the vast majority of people here support everyone's efforts related to nightclubs. Whether that's as a promoter, host, server, clubgoer or a CD-playing DJ, the simple fact is that we all are passionate about nightlife.

Doesn't matter what kind of music someone plays, doesn't matter what crowd they cater to. We respect each other because we understand we're all part of the scene in one way or another.

We're just sick and tired of people coming into this community and trying to tear it down for no reason other than personal issues.

I have to say that every thing you've said is completely on point.

But this CD webmaster is just an A-- H--- he goes to othere club asks for discounts on bottleshas no shame doent tips maybe 3% tries to pas him and his spot as hip hop...

I represent the creators of the culture of hip hop...

If you notice I have never ever said anything about the other clubs in town, and why is that?

CD webmaster says that his spot is hip hop,and on the radio there is such a getto commercial that when I hear it, it makes me sick.

They say they are the only hip hop upscale spot in Vegas, know everyone has a right to say what ever they want, but it takes more then a rap CD to make it a hip hop spot

They brag that lil john was there YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYA is his famous words, that embasasing man has nothing to do with the culture of hip hip,i dont care how much money he's made or what rap magazines his been in.and they talk about the ying yang twins....

They have nothing to do with this culture except to make it look strupid...

theres only Two real old school funk and soul spots in town, and as you know funk and soul is hip hop.

1) John doe from the get back every first Friday of the mounth,to me that is the best real hip hop in town...

2) Slide every Sunday night at tabu ultra lounge, with DJ-P who is ranked one of the top tree DJ'S in the world.

I want you to know that IM in no way trying to get his crowed over to any of the two spots i mentioned...

because its obvious that his crowd just doesn't know any better.

Any way it was nice talking to you...
