I grew up on Long Island in the bayside village of Brightwaters, NY. I spent many a summer on nearby beautiful Fire Island finding little treasures on the beach, which I considered precious even then. It wasn't until I went to Costa Rica five years ago with my then boyfriend, now husband, that I began really experimenting with shells and design. While he surfed, I beach-combed and came across the tiniest prettiest pink shell I had ever seen. My "shell rose" necklace was created for the first time a few weeks later. I have been back on Long Island for a few years now, and my fingers can't work fast enough to create all of the ideas I have swirling around.
