  1. Very same room as the shelter parties on saturdays. We miht be using a prototype of the upcoming phaozn mixer as well. I', awaiting to hear about hte last test results and I'll call up my boss to convince him to let us play w/ it for the night
  2. great nite. I've had better at guernica, but eventually we'll all find our niches. Punisher was my winner hands down, but i was in the mood for the hardershit anyway. what I likeabout baktun is that the dj can be tucked from your view, but alas everyone still goes and faces that direction. prety girls, mmm Z, IM me at randynyc1 maudy too if ya want
  3. still living in your parents basement?
  4. perhaps there is a difficulty in counting
  5. I'm throwing a lil house warming party for shelter's friday nights on the big rig. hope to see some of you there. it's been a while.
  6. cnyc was better cuz nestor and alpha were always around to bash and mess w/ people mediaman is now rub'r circuits on nb
  7. the overabundance of subpromoters is another problem. How about getting creative and throwing your own parties.
  8. I've partied and/or worked in this scene since july of 98. By no means does this make me oldschool in any resepect, but I've seen where the scene was different. It seems that most people nowadays want to have everyhting handed to them on a plate. Packaged party, platter of drugs, gigs, wahtever. NObody owes anyone anything besides acknowledgement of their existence. Just becaues you bought some vinyl and can beatmatch does not mean everyone should kiss your feet. Just because you like to party does not mean that promoters should bend over backwards to give yo ua party. DIY Stop doing e when you go out out every weekend. If the experience has already gotten stale, reevaluate why you started going out. Was it to hook up? Well, I respect that because we are all humans looking for mr/miss/mrs/? right/now. As long as you don't intrude on someone else's space, gawk and primp all you want. Was it the music? Or jsut a change of pace from teh music you were listening to before you started going out. Too many people out and about are doing so because it's the next trendy thing to do. To hang out and meet people? Was it the drugs? It's okay if that was the reason, as long as you can learn from your experiences. Now evaluate why you go out now and where you want to go with this. I'm 22 now and looking for mental stimulation with every experience. Music with emotion and vocals do nothign for me so my options are now both limited and expanded. Is the msuic at exit a match for your intellectual capability? Is it a lil too demanding? NOt demanding enough? Was twilo? Is tonic? Is vinyl? If what you do is not a match, look for or create something else. Is the scene hurting? I think it is. Places like exit, webster, and soundfactory are great for keeping a crowd that is not going to jive well w/ any party i go to from disrupting an otherwise pure experience. There are sooooo many lounges where locals can pay their dues. The lack of owners w/ an appreciation for decent sound is a problem. "Proper" soundsystems are rarities and considering we listen to dance music, not enough spaces are suitable for busting a groove. This has nothing t odo w/ the cabaret licenses. A lot of floor plans are just very poor in design. There is a lack of supported musical diversity, but I don't think anything can be changed unless people lay off the e. Music that doesn't hit the magic e chords does not get supported because its more difficult ot get into at that point. This is why im very excited about S&D and Hawtin playing at different venues on the same night. I could go on and on as this culture is what will probably guide me through hte rest of my life. Just try to expand yourself when you go out instead of escaping yourself and eventually all will click into place
  9. the sound at the trendroid party will be handled by noiseboy, not phazon. phazon at a loft? cmon, get realistic
  10. words of quality, not quantity. where are nestor and alpha? ran into mediaman on monday
  11. why would you want to go anywhere where such a shallow filtering policy exists?
  12. If people read the article more closely, one might find that it does mention that dash does make some of his own stuff.
  13. sucker born every minute. The otehr factor is that some of these places are so big that htey have extremely high overhead. I bet land is worth a lot more in nyc than DC
  14. I'm not from jersey, only here for school, so I drive through the rest of the state to get home or anywhere else. Everyone I know from school is from jersey. I worked in teterboro and mt olive over the years. The entire turnpike smells. The rest of the state is so far in the boonies there is nothing to do besides drive somewhere else. yeah for suburbia. SO what did I miss that was so breathtaking?
  15. Make the club scene? FUnny most of the time I meet people from brooklyn and queens. I'd love to hear jsut one thing jersey has accomplished besides giving staten island a smell to compete with.
  16. It was all about laurant, maersk, autechre, richie hawtin, stacy pullen, and kooky scientist for me. You know you're hardcore if you're in the pit while its hailing, raining, and thundering, just waiting for the last words of the party so you can drive all the way back to nyc the same night. "I callllllllllled you, but you weren't there"
  17. packed, dark, sweaty, loud, and dirty, just ow it should be. shitty crowd tho. too many pushy people. he started at 2 and went til 8:30. i left around 6 cuz we had no place to stay but got a couch in windsor to crash on in exchange for a ride home.
  18. Surely someone of your intellect and success would have better options than to ask a bunch of crackhead clubbers. The ironbound section of newark of newark would be a fine place for you to start looking. Have your agent have you look at night. That is when all of the beautiful people come out to play so you might turn a few heads when they see that you are looking for a new crib erm condo.
  19. Lights around the sub what? Fog out of the horns? do a lil sound research first. Fog doesn't need to come out of any specific spot since it's effect is to be everywhere.
  20. Sorry about the cross post If you want the scene in Hoboken to improve please come out tonight. I'm opening for DJ Lady tonight at Ecalibur in hoboken and figured I'd go for some self promotion. Excalibur is usually latin gay club but thurs nites are house/trance and mixed. Excalibur 1000 Jefferson St Hoboken, NJ Take the path, bus, drive, whatever . Here is the mapquest link. The club is behind Hoboken High's football stadium http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_find?link=btwn%2Ftwn-map_results&random=1 064&event=find_search&uid=u3m40bu1mbu1g3te%3Argqzzl5ub&SNVData=3mad3-9.fy%25 28at2u67_%2529f82u67%253bah7-%253d%253a%2528_%253d%253abad672%253d%253d1su67 2%253d0%2Crb%253b7&country=United+States&address=1000+jefferson+st&city=hobo ken&State=nj&Zip=07030&Find+Map=Get+Map
