  1. ahh..so you're one of them old school photographer, that like things the o.g. way, not technologically enhanced. You're probably in favor of leaving the Sistine chapel as is, instead of attempting restoration. Don't know much about SLRs, but with some adjustment you can probably achieve the similar affect with a digital, no? Anyway, would love to see some of your work
  2. thats just to show how little the consultant knew about the shepard's business....he couldn't distinguish a dog from a sheep, much like a consultant that couldn't distinguish Java from C++...anywhooooo:blank:
  3. this may only be funny to fellow consultants, or those who have worked with consultants...for those who don't - this is how you recognize one A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new silver Mercedes coupe flew out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in an Armani suit, Bruno Magli shoes and Armani sunglasses leans out the window and asks the shepherd: "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?" The shepherd looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers: "Sure. Why not?" The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location and scan the area with satellite photos. Then the young man opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a Microsoft database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, mini HP LaserJet printer. Finally, he turns to the shepherd and says: "You have exactly 1586 sheep." "That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep." says the shepherd. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then the shepherd says to the young man: "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?" The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?" "You're a consultant." says the shepherd. "Yeah, man...," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?" "No guessing required." answered the shepherd. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew; to a question I never asked; and you don't know crap about my business...Now give me back my dog."
  4. Gasp! How can you go to Spundae and not know who Dave Cole is? lol...he's the trademark of Spundae. I'm sure you'll come to know him as you frequent Spundae more
  5. still using camera plastica? although they are a lot more carefree than digitals. But no instant viewtification I've had no problem bringing my S110 into HOB, and Circus so far. Oh and Century And who's this Lee Burrrrrridge character? I don't know any of these DJs no more. Boy have I been a hermit
  6. woo hoo wey wey! way to go setting up this sticky. Now if someone can fill in the blanks on the Penthouse Pet party...
  7. Just wanted to get some feed back from those of you that went to George Acosta @ Spundae this pas weekend. How was he? How was the vibe and crowd in general? Rumor has it there were near altercations. Any witnesses? And most importantly, did they add new items to the fruit stand??? : penny for your thought...
  8. LOL Lostin is the soup nazi But come on now folks. we're all just trying to enjoy ourselves here. So get along, or you'll lose t.v. previliges as well
  9. I know everyone's entitled to their opinions, and will form their opinions based their exeriences. With that said, I'll just add that every single one of my visit to Spundae has been a pleasant one. Sure there are the pre-mature clubbers that just can't handle their substance. But I've never seen a fight break out, or anything close to a fight. The club goers are super nice, friendly, and down to earth. in fact, I dub it "the People's club" because its the one place I know of where the event promoters really look out for its patrons - the music lovers and dance fanatics. This is a venue where people go to enjoy a good show, not put on a show. In a location as diverse as So Cal, sometimes it doesn't seem realistic to rate clubs based only on a few criterias. Just my 2 cents
  10. I've been pretty lucky to have listened to some well mixed sets. Also, walking away when the beats don't jive also helps
  11. Being in the 'Bay', San Fran tend to be cooler than So Cal. If you want guaranteed sunny Cali climate, I'd say June - Aug. April is generally still in the rain season. But great to cuddle up at Ghiradelli Square for a nice cup of hot cocoa:D
  12. yeah...clubbing can really ding your wallet. Not to mention if you bring a date, or go out with a group of buddies...drinks start flying left and right. $200 can disappear in one night pretty quickly. I guess its a good thing work keeps me tied down to the weekend outings...that, plus the fact that OC has NO night life:blank:
  13. hmm..there's this tapas place on Santa Monica that would serve well...forgot what its called
  14. now, how is Shelter compared to White Lotuse?
  15. I can understand sandiegino's point in that the stickies are long and unorganized. Makes it difficult for a quick borwse or just a glance. But I always think if you want to get the most out of anything, you gotta do some research into it. That being said, the stickies contain some of the most useful info. Not only is the info nonpartisant(sp?), its from trusted source. So I say leave it be, hunny bee. People will always be asking repetitive questions because they're simply LAZY.
  16. good one Weyes Here's a politically incorrect one... One day in the garden of Eden the zebra asks St. Peter: "Am I a black horse with white stripes, or a white horse with black stripe?" Baffled by the question himself, St. Peter sends the zebra to God for an answer. "If there's anyone that knows the answer, its God" The zebra arrive before God and asks his question. The almight wise God answered: "You are, what you are" Confused by the answer, the zebra goes back to St. Peter for an explaination. Upon hearing God's answer, St. Peter firmly tells the zebra "Thats it. you're a white horse with black stripes" "How so?" asked the zebra. "Because if you're a black horse with white stripes," explains St. Peter " God would've said 'You is what you is' "
  17. yeah..well to your point Anotherway, some of them building numbers are hard to spot even when you're walking by, let along driving.
  18. sleep? you dont need sleep! you're powered by lucky stars!
  19. An elderly Irish woman goes to the doctor and asks his help to revive her husband's sex drive ... "What about trying Viagra?" asks the doctor."Not a chance," says Mrs. Murphy. "He won't even take an aspirin for a headache." "No problem." replies the doctor. "Drop it into his coffee, he won't even taste it. Try it and then call me in a week to let me know how it worked out." A week later, Mrs. Murphy calls the doctor and he inquired as to how things went. "Oh, faith and bejaysus and begorrah, it was terrible, just terribledoctor." "What happened?" asks the doctor. Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in his coffee.. The effect was immediate. He jumped straight up, with a gleam in his eye and with his pants bulging fiercely!!! He swept the cutlery off the table, at the same time ripping my clothes off and then proceeded to make wild, mad, passionate love to me on the tabletop! It was terrible!" "What was terrible?" said the doctor. "Was the sex not good?" "Oh no, doctor, the sex was the best I've had in 25 years, but I'll never be able to show me face in Starbucks again.
  20. I want a lucky star! I haven't been that lucky lately
  21. hey Blue...is Cirque still hiring for the OC shows? I'd like some extra income
  22. yeah..had wanted to try them dogs for the longest time. Figure I can't call myself a true Spundae goer without a) taking a pic with Dave Cole (which I still haven't ) and b)trying the hotdog stand around the corner. Much like one can't consider themselves an Angelino, without trying Pink's hotdogs...
  23. I've posted my $0.02 of Ferry @ HOB elsewhere, but thought this deserves another go: *parking was a pain - probably because I didn't realize they have their own parking lot in the back, and I ended up paying $15 for parking 2 blocks away *Crowd was good. Better mix of crowd than at the typical club scene. I'm guessing mainly because these are Ferry supporters, not the once in a blue moon clubbers. *The main floor is tiny. It got super crowded when Ferry took the stage. But you still get a good view from the sidelines. *Ferry gets a bonehead award from me because he gave my ticket stub that I asked him to sign, to someone else . But his set made up for it. He's my new trance hero:dj:
  24. consider this a followup/ gripe on Ferry @ HOB: *General Admin was $20, but Ticketmaster and HOB together gouged event goers enough to jack the total up to $33. WTF??? Damn the middle man. *Ferry started the set strong, and kept the crowd going. But could've had a stronger finish. My friends and I played groupie and handed Ferry our ticket stubs for his autograph. He ended up giving them back to the wrong crowd  But I forgive him since he rocked the house.
