  1. tkts.org don't go to the one in times square, it's a circus. go to the location downtown.
  2. if you want like roxy and stuff, go to pacific sunwear (they have a website too) or coast 2 coast, a store in roosevelt field mall. i think they're designs are pretty safe and cute. i really like la petite coquette (i'm always raving about this place), it's a lingerie + bikini store. it's mad expensive when it's just normally priced, but their sales are ridiculous. i got a la perla bikini for $20 marked down from $400. also, i think that century 21 + loehmann's have decent selection and good price. go to these places to get CK, Nautica, Polo, Cheap + Chic, etc.
  3. never been a fan of fanny packs... you might as well just rock a messenger bag from like jack spade or something. those are pretty nice.
  4. i'm assuming you mean "role"
  5. PS1, a museum at a former elementary school and now an extension of MOMA, is a great way to spend saturday afternoon chillin' to dope beats. the party takes place outdoors in their concrete courtyard, which takes on a new twist each year. once they had huge hammocks with fans blowing water. last year they had a mini kiddie pool in the middle with lots of fans. this year, it looks they kept up the cool mist idea. the beers used to be $2! dayam. they increased this to $5, so i hear. it's a great way to hear new sounds, beats, DJs that you normally wouldn't go hear. for $8, how can you go wrong. don't wear your nicest threads, you'll get sweaty and dirty. the crowd, mainly brooklyn hipsters but still a lot of fun. i've seen families, old folks all gather so it's a really chill atmosphere. when you get hot, make sure you go inside into the air conditioned museum and take a look around. it's pretty nice what they have in there.
  6. i think the AMEX card is great once you establish credit and you are good about paying your balance off monthly. why not reap the benefits of having awesome customer service, additional insurance just in case something happens to you, and rewards? i've had my AMEX Green fee waived b/c of good credit history. and once that runs out, i'm willing to pay $55 a year for the card. if you ever have a problem with disputing a charge or a store won't let you return an item, AMEX will refund you, no questions asked.
  7. the one downtown is good if you want to score some of last season's european designer clothing. it does take a lot of patience and time to dig through the entire section, but during their sales there are some interesting finds. the one in long island i think is overall better for just everyday clothing. it's bigger, not as crowded and there's tons of sh1t there if you again, have the time. i typically spend about 3 hours scouring through the entire store. and they carry both previous and current season's stuff. their charles david's shoes particularly are always the current season's. many of the more casual lines are current too, like left of center, marc jacobs, michael stars. i absolutely love this place, many times people ask me where i get all my designer sh1t... it's always here.
  8. it's a good idea to have a credit card if you are a smart consumer. it'll build up your credit history and you'll be rewarded with cheaper interest rates when you want to take out a loan, mortgage, etc. however, as people have said above, don't go crazy and get more than 2 credit card tops to start with. you don't need to get a retail credit card, like for J Crew, etc. 1) as someone mentioned, Capital One is the best one to use for starting off. they offer a fixed (versus a variable) interest rate. good customer service, so you can fight off those late fees as needed. 2) if you are a student, look into credit cards specifically for students. MBNA sponsors many collegiate credit cards, which may offer a smaller credit limit in exchange for a competitive interest rate. 3) one from your bank (Citigroup, Chase) may also be useful since they can offer you some sort of negotiated deal since you are already a bank customer. the downside is that customer service may not be as friendly. last bit of advice: pay off your bill every month if possible. this fairs very well for your credit ratings. don't worry about those reward programs, points, platinum cards, etc for your first card. get a good card with a low interest rate and then build up your credit from there.
  9. yea wtf is the mafia knot! tell your dad to post explicit instructions, thanks! dayam, got me intrigued.
  10. come on now, YOU don't know how to tie a double windsor!! haha. i don't understand this "if you can pull it off." anyone can pull pink off. i can go as far as saying it's the most common button down shirt color for men outside of white and blue. god, everyone and their mother owns a pink shirt from Thomas Pink, Brooks, Thyrwitt.... i don't get it?

    jeanette lee

haha. jeannette lee. she has her own table dedicated to her at amsterdam billiards on the UWS (Amsterdam + around 72nd St). when i used to go there during HS, she was always there. she became dope b/c like all other Asian kids, she'd always cut class and go play pool. she just NEVER went to class. was always playing. gotta love them delinquents...
  12. yeaps, i posted the designergoodsonline.com website. it should still be up, i was there recently checking out the bags. it's still much cheaper than space (the prada/miu miu outlet at woodbury). also check out luxestyle.com. the prices are comparable to designergoodsonline, but their selection is not as great. i have one that i got from designergoods, and got my mom and sister prada bags from luxestyle. btw, the prada sample sale fuckin kicks my ass! i absolutely love it. i got a wallet there for $100 over a year ago. i go to space in woodbury - they are selling this same wallet as a "new item" for $350 discounted. dayam, can't wait until the sample sale is here again!!! a&f doesn't have an outlet in this area.
  13. depending on which income bracket you're in obviously, but it's about 28% from federal for me, then more for state/local etc... i'd estimate it to be about 30-32%. now for bonuses, holy crap. they take about 47% if you are single, no dependents, etc. but you get most of it back during tax return season.
  14. most of her sound is referred to as "Chicago Hard House." she's a lot of fun when she spins, always pretty hectic beats. the past few times i've seen her, she'll start off with the chicago hard house beats - think bleeping and boinking sounds, high pitched gibberish lyrics, high BPMs. like... "face down ass up... thats the way we like to fuck" kinda stuff. she then finishes off her sets with a more soulful chicago house, with more lyrics, disco-ish beats. however, i haven't been to a rave in years, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. i still pick up her CDs and her live sets are pretty much the same as her CDs.
  15. and lacoste shirts have been in for years now, fyi

  17. i'm sure it's for copyright purposes that people do put an "E" at the end.
  18. i thought you guys over here might be able to help me out. so, i want to replace the speakers/stereo in my SUV. is it better to go to a local circuit city/best buy and get it done? a guy used to hook it up for me on northern blvd, but he's closed shop unfortunately. any good suggestions? i don't want to get ripped off either. thanks for your help.
  19. sorry. amateur stuff here. don't get me wrong, i fully recognize that you're probably a small group of people that are starting from the bottom up, trying to get a biz going, good luck to you... but perhaps when it's more developed and mature that you'll get more interest.
  20. do you work for a corporation? if so, look into getting corporate rates. i get a corporate rate, insurance fee waived and such by going through my company for car rentals. also look into www.qixo.com. it's a website that searches various websites for you for the best deal. it's pretty good. these days, i've also found that going directly to an airline's website offers cheaper tickets than through discount websites like orbitz, travelocity, expedia. airlines have been trying to compete with those websites and have been offering great rates b/c of that. also look into hotwire.com if you are more flexible with your schedule (since they don't provide you with your itinerary until after you purchase your ticket). the tickets generally are about $20-$75 cheaper this way.
  21. the #1s... are called #1 for a reason. i hear they are so damned good i am too scared to take them.. (thats why i got them on reserve)
  22. mm hmm. those are some dope dresses. i usu. hate asymmetrical anything, but those look hot on those models.
  23. also, check out Zara. i believe there's a men section there that woulc carry a white suit.
  24. honestly? if it's just a party and you don't plan on wearing it out too often again, i'd check out cheapo places like H&M, Mexx.
  25. not true the 1M Mary Jane march has been going on for a few years now. type it into google and check it out. you will get arrested.
