  1. looks like there are at least 2 good chances to do so 1. 718 sessions tonight 2. Oct 12 (if you have Columbus Day off) - George Acosta, Jason Jollins, Victor Dinaire
  2. 2 blocks away from Avalon (1 block away from Centro), at 22 St, between 5th and 6th Aves It used to be Ohm Makes me think... after Centro-Fly re-opens, you could do some nice club-hopping in that area some time, try hitting up all these places in one night: Discotheque, Avalon, Centro-Fly, Cheetah, Deep, Eugene They're all within 6 blocks of each other, between 5th and 6th Aves Too bad that on the same night, most of them have very different crowds and music from each other. Or maybe that's good for a visitor who wants to sample the scenes.
  3. Hey! Yup, that was me. So how was the rest of your night?
  4. So for those who made it in, how early did you show up?
  5. What kind of music was played there? How was the racial makeup? (doesn't matter to me, but does to some people) My out-of-town friends, who decided to leave the Avalon line before me, were looking for a place to go, and I mentioned Deep, but I said I hadn't been there, and hence couldn't tell them what to expect. So I said Arc, and it turned out to be a bad mistake, as it wasn't their style at all. I'll be checking it out tonight for the 718 Sessions event, which features one of the former Body & Soul residents
  6. Did you have to do anything to get in? I came back at around that time, and I just saw the bouncers not letting people in. I was thinking about giving it a try, but then decided the amount of time I'd be there wouldn't be worth it, and that I should just wait til I can catch a full night. What time did it close?
  7. I recommended Arc, but they went and totally didn't like it, and I don't think they stayed more than half an hour. And I totally agree about how such a nice space is being wasted. I was thinking that while waiting in line at Avalon, as I had lots of time for thinking.
  8. Has anyone been to Exit recently, i.e. after they changed to the "Hip hop on the main floor" format for Fridays, and Latin for Saturdays? How has it been? Has the makeup of the crowd changed? Are there still lots of Asians there? Someone (a friend of a friend) who was visiting NYC wanted to go to a place with a mostly Asian crowd (or with many Asians). In the past, I could've said Exit in a heartbeat, but I thought things have probably changed.
  9. I picked up a flyer when I was at Glass last Saturday. Looks like there's now a Saturday morning option, if DT isn't enough. Happens at SX 137, starting at 8 am. Has this event already started? If so, if you've gone, how has it been?
  10. Sorry for the lateness, but there's also always Arc and Shelter
  11. I arrived at 11:45 pm, and was almost at the front at 2:20 am, when the bouncer announced that the club was closed, and told everyone in line to leave.
  12. Has anyone been to, or heard about, the Morning Party ? How is it? I got a flyer after coming out of Discotheque one Thursday (when Superchumbo played) some info from hx.com (so probably a mostly gay crowd, if that matters to you) The Morning Party 113 Seventh Ave (Christopher St) 212-463-0950 A new late late night and all next day dance party by DJ Eddie Baez. Watch for upcoming major events: Flow Xtreme, Explosion, Midsummer Night's Dream (Battle of the DJs). Steam Room returns in the fall.
  13. I saw something about it on NY1 Did anyone go? How was it? Wait, isn't the official opening this Saturday (Sept 20)? Was this a private event or something?
  14. Check em all out! However on Saturdays, there are different styles on different weeks. There have been nights for progressive house, trance, techno, and psy-trance. Also, there are often other DJ's playing in the arcade in the back. Hopefully you like all these styles, but if you don't, just check on who's playing before you go. If you like trance, you can now catch John 00 Fleming every 2 months! He's made a believer out of many. Marco V was supposed to be there last night as well, but had visa problems. Still a great night though. On most trance nights, Victor Dinaire closes, and that's worth sticking around for after the headliner is done.
  15. I believe Hex does a monthly residency at Discotheque's Friday event When they happen, you'll probably hear about it here.
  16. LOL this Saturday... maybe I need to get out more, but this is the first time I've heard of a wet-shirt event in the city, in at least a long while http://www.entertainers2go.com/Email/99/072603.htm close to Arc. so maybe good for a little pre-gaming before Howells
  17. If the schedule works out right, and if you have the funds, WMC is a great way to spend spring break.
  18. Next Friday (July 11) at Roxy Advance tix are $25 + fees at ticketweb.com or go to Vinyl Market or Rebel Rebel http://www.madeevents.com/071103.php
  19. DaVe, quite a lucky guy you are
  20. not really a trainwreck, but at ULTRA, PVD had a CD (probably CD-R) that repeatedly skipped really badly that he had to go straight to the next track on the same CD.
  21. Free party too , as it's being put on by Party 93.1 Damn you I was thinking about going, for other stuff as well, but flights are too expensive now I was at last year's event, and it was a blast
  22. I'm asking because some non-clubber friends from out-of-town (Boston, if that matters) are visiting this weekend, and I'm wondering where there to take them. Gotta find a place that will impress them. Any other suggestions for a big club that is nice, with cheesy music ? What's happening at Sound Factory this Saturday? They probably can't stay too late for the real experience, but I'm wondering if enough people will come in the early hours (like before 1 am), that it will be ok. Anyone know? I'd like Arc, but the decor might be a bit plain, and I'm not sure if they could handle the music, and they probably can't stay out too late. They're not heavy drinkers, but having alcohol as an option would be nice too. Centro-Fly is a possibility, but I'm wondering if it's big enough for their liking. Maybe Webster Hall? Or is there some other place to check out?
  23. Has anyone been there on Saturdays recently? I see on the web site that they now have Tropical Sundays, and that the music there is salsa, reggae, and R&B. Is that really so, for the music? What is played on the main floor?
