  1. http://www.paulvandyk.de/lowres/service_news.asp I've read on another board that PVD wouldn't allow the price to be higher than $40 Have there been other DJ's who wouldn't do a gig if the admission price would be too high (or over a certain amount) ?
  2. So he's playing the night before (morning of) Ultra? Dang, that alone is going to be tiring, on top of all else that's going on. I'm thinking maybe having a hotel in the downtown area would be good for that time, then I could come from one event, shower and change, nap if needed, then go to the next. Either that, or just go straight from one to the other (and feel nasty), or cab all the way back to South Beach then do the same thing in reverse pretty much right after.
  3. If you want Paul van Dyk, come to Roxy on Feb 21 He comes to NYC a few times a year. He used to play every 2 months before Twilo was shut down. I think he takes Oakie to school. If you don't mind not having alcohol, Arc is a good place to go, with events on Fridays, Saturdays, now Sundays (if you like deep house), and sometimes special events on weekdays. PVD once played there on a Monday! Their mailing list might be of interest - check either madeevents.com or arcspace.net for info about that There's something good going on every day of the week here in NYC. There are lots of places, so I hope you are able to check them all out. Yeah, check these boards regularly to find out what's going on.
  4. This seems like quite a party. How did they get everyone to dress in white though? Featured DJ's: Erick E Armin van Buuren Johan Gielen Marcello Check it out this month http://www.eurodancehits.com/video/videomonth.html
  5. Darn, I wish I had known about CDRWin before the Nero demo period expired and I paid to register it. I hadn't thought much about using cue files back then either. I'll check it out though. Easy CD Creator came with my comp (which is Win 98), and I got sick of it. First it allowed only 650 MB of data to be burned. I also kept on getting this BS message "Unable to use CD writer because it is being used by Easy CD Creator". I read on other boards that the problem still existed in later versions. Maybe it has gotten better since.
  6. More reality tv to rot your brain... starting tonight (this Wednesday), 9 pm on ABC Here's the big question burning on my mind: Is she (Trista) going to do the proposing, if a proposal is indeed made in the end? Seems to be the logical thing, but I just don't see it happening. But if the guy does the proposing, I wonder how that will be worked out if she's doing the choosing.
  7. Check the Arc board. There's an opportunity advertised there that might be of interest.
  8. Maybe I need to try another board, but I just thought maybe someone could help here... Has anyone used Nero Burning ROM 5.5 for burning mp3's to CD, using cue files? I tried doing it a few times, but got a Write Error at least once, and a buffer underrun error once, and who knows what else. Anyone need frisbees or coasters? It seems like I don't need to use the wizard. I just choose either "Burn Image"; or "Open" then choose the cue file. I have wait a bit, but after a while, a dialog pops up and I can click the "Write" button. Is there something I'm not doing right?
  9. There's also http://www.realitytvfans.com
  10. What's the latest here? Wasn't NYE the last night they were open? If that's what you're referring to, then wow, talk about a delayed response
  11. Maybe he's in an area where the cost of living (and salaries all around) is lower
  12. My bad. I dug up some articles thanks to google Martin Boss did 72 hours at the Vinyl Frontier store in Orlando Here was a recent attempt by a Dutch DJ to break it, which fell short by an hour http://www.dancefrontdoor.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=416
  13. It's TrancEaddict night at Exit Just hide out in the Midnight Room Forget about what goes on in the rest of the club.
  14. Didn't Martin Boss (the current record holder) do his 48-hour set in a record store (a nice one though), or some place like that? Would be cool to try it in a club, but I doubt any place would be willing to stay open so long
  15. PVD and Cox are usually on the same night, when they're both in Ibiza PVD and Tiesto are residents at Cream @ Amnesia on Thursdays - you'll get at least one or the other (with a guest DJ), and sometimes both (with no guest DJ) So if you want both PVD and Cox, either stay for 2 weeks, or you could try to catch a little bit of both. Doesn't Cox do midnight - 6 am? PVD probably goes on at 3-4 am, and plays til closing at 7-8 am. I did catch PVD (supposed to be with Tiesto, but he got sick, and Rui da Silva filled in for him) and Picotto when I went during the last week of August last summer Cox was there that week too. MP played at Godskitchen @ Eden (Tuesday nights) - that was my favorite night, when he played with Signum, Armin van Buuren, and Marco V. Does he play anywhere else in Ibiza?
  16. NYC is full of people who are anything but normal For the people who have to work, the Sunday parties usually start earlier and end earlier.
  17. Isn't that MLK Day weekend? I believe Stuck on Earth is doing something at the Roxy on that Sunday There's also the new Sunday party at Arc that day
  18. Friday - Tranceaddict night at Exit Saturday - Gatecrasher (Matt Hartwick) at Arc
  19. It's probably meant to be a party all of its own, though it is an after-after-party option for the crazier folks - but how many such people are there in NYC on a given Sunday? (we're not in Ibiza, mind you ) Maybe Body & Soul vets could tell more. Seems like they're more of a dancing crowd, than a drinking one. And the hours are good for those who have to work on Monday. Seems to work out well with church hours too, unlike Saturday nights. Prez Day is officially Monday Feb 17, but the party will be on Feb 16 and will probably last well into the 17th. There is a little mention of it on the Arc site, with "Stay tuned for details" The last Prez Day he did in NYC (that I remember) was at Twilo with Carl Cox, and lasted til almost 4 in the afternoon. I imagine he'll do something similar. Are you ready for it?
  20. Yes, 4-12. But I didn't get there til 7:30 I didn't see people who looked like they were coming from Exit But now you could do 24 hours of clubbing in a row (or close to it) on a regular weekend. I wonder what they're going to do on the Sunday of President's Day. Supposedly Danny Tenaglia will be doing something then. So start DT's thing after Love from NYC ends? Or just not have Love from NYC that night? If the former, there will probably be a break between the two events (so the club can be cleared and cleaned), but you could go back in line and do pretty much 24 hours at Arc, if you go the distance at both events.
  21. It's a weekly event. But if there continues to be similar numbers, it probably won't last too long.
  22. Good music, good vibe but... hardly anyone there! In the last two hours, there was like 5 people dancing (there were others sitting around) Didn't Body & Soul draw a packed house? What happened to that crowd? It's not my style of music, but it could be a good party, so y'all should show up some time soon!
  23. Anyone hitting up the opening of Love from NYC? For me, it will be back at Arc less than 12 hours after I was last there Too bad I never had a chance to check out Body & Soul. Hopefully this will be the next best thing.
  24. There seem to have been a good number of other places that charged similar prices (if not more), and got similarly bad reviews. Whoever put on those events should be the ones to blame. If you're a Tiesto fan and haven't seen him before, come on a "regular" Tiesto night, when the prices are more affordable for the die-hard (and there are many of them) Tiesto fans to come out. I think the World is ok as a venue, but hopefully his next time will be back at Roxy, or even Exit will do for me. Less BS, especially of the NYE kind, too He probably didn't see his usual NYC fans, and as a result probably wasn't feeling things as well.
  25. If you're not lucky enough to win the passes, your best bet is probably either sign up for the list here or on the Made site If you are, give one to me!
