  1. He's a resident at Judgement Sundays (at the club Eden) in Ibiza, along with Ferry Corsten and (obviously) Judge Jules Are there any sets of his anywhere?
  2. Not yet http://www.ny1.com/ny/TopStories/SubTopic/index.html?topicintid=1&subtopicintid=1&contentintid=26548 btw, if there is a strike, allow up to 24 hours from the announcement for the contingency plan to take effect
  3. The events listing is on their site http://www.powderdeep.com I believe during the day time, the place functions as Deep Studio
  4. So you're gonna drop the $125 (or more) for Tiesto on NYE? I wonder how many are going to do likewise. I'm on the fence about whether to do the same. On one hand, most of his usual NYC crowd is probably not going to be there, but on the other, it's New Years Eve, and Tiesto is where he wants to be, so maybe he'll bring out something special (if it's possible he could more than he already has). DaVe told me that people have been buying the $450 tix (which supposedly includes a view of the ball drop)... believe it or not... but he mentioned mostly people from out-of-state doing that, who probably don't get to see him as often.
  5. Did anyone try the "dnL" (appears to be caffeinated 7up - see http://www.dnl-flipit.com ) that was being given out? Not bad IMO.
  6. closing at 4 am??? that's a bit early and a bit short for these 2 guys together
  7. Awesome night! Great tunes, great energy, great vibe. Too bad AVB didn't get to play the advertised 5-hour set. He started around 1:45 am, and ended a mini encore set with "Airwave" by Rank 1 at 6:15 am. He threw 2 records out to the crowd at the end. There was a little hitch early in the set when the power in the DJ booth suddenly went out, interestingly while "New York, New York" (by Lemon8, not by Frank Sinatra) was being played. Luckily the power was restored within a few minutes. I heard maybe 1 or 2 tunes that I hadn't heard before, but the set was full of great stuff that kept me moving the whole time. There seemed to be a bit fewer people than I expected (and what you might expect for the "#5 DJ in the world"); while the place was by no means empty, there was lots of room to move, unless you were on the stage (which they set up, unlike the nights for Tiesto, Sasha, and PVD) right in front of the booth. They had the stage, the platforms, and the couches set up, like they do for the usual (non major event) Friday nights. I didn't see any dancers though. It's remarkable that AVB signed as many autographs as he did without being too distracted from the mixing. The security check upon entering the club seemed to be a bit slow. With the way I was searched, I thought maybe the club brought in security guys from Exit. All this while the Charlie Brown theme song was played repeatedly in that area. Did anyone else experience the same?
  8. Quite a party! Maybe a bit crowded, but what do you expect for a free event? I came late, but from what I caught, it seemed that the Native Theory guys had it started quite well. Erick Morillo did some mad looping, like when he repeated the word "down" (as in "sun goes down") from the Cassius track on top of almost the length of Dark Beat The mirrored Subliminal logo hanging decoration was cool. How did things go after 2:15 (when I left, to rest up for work and AVB)?
  9. actually, on Sunday, 3-5 am... Did anyone happen to hear this one? It sounded like a new set (as far as KTU is concerned), not a recycled one, like I have heard a few times. Sounds very nice! Reminds me a bit of the NEC Gatecrasher set. With all the sets I've downloaded, I'll have to clear out my hard drive to make a file of this, for y'all to hear. btw, I have seen rumors of him playing Arc with Danny Tenaglia, I believe on Jan 18. Can anyone confirm?

  11. Where was everyone?? The place closed at 6 am, which is the earliest I've ever witnessed on a Saturday at Arc. When I got there at 12:45 am, there seemed to be less than 10 people in the club. (I later found out about the guestlist being extended to 3 am, so maybe that had some to do with it) Anyways, music was still quite nice, and the small crowd seemed to be much into it. Paolo Mojo opened, then Noel Sanger took over at 2:30 am, followed by Mario Piu at 4 am. Nice stuff by Mojo and Sanger. I thought Piu's mixing kinda sucked in the first hour, but he was great in the second hour. Music may have been cheesy to some, but I was loving it all throughout. The place was jumping after he played Taub, some time around 5:30 am. Stellar closing track - does anyone know what it was? Those who were there surely saw the guy who wore a Smirnoff Ice logo outfit and a paper plate mask. When he was in the arcade, people were foolin' with him. Perhaps kinda freaky, but he was pretty good at staying motionless. When I first saw him standing against one of the poles, I thought it was a mannequin or something like that.
  12. I don't know if you can consider them "hot", but your best bets are probably Exit and Webster Hall You'll find hip-hop there, but the main floor music depends on who is playing the night you go. Centro-Fly is another place to try, though it's usually house played on the main floor. Limelight used to give you that choice of music, but I don't know if they do now.
  13. Yeah, great set and great party (all things considered) Digweed ended at 6. The last hour was great, especially as there was more space (but still a pretty full floor) after most people had left. The crowd that remained still wanted more after his encore. I was feeling JVM a lot more than I did when he opened for Sasha at Roxy. I first saw the chaos at returning end of the coat check at 3 am. Why were so many people leaving when Digweed had just started? Luckily it wasn't so bad at closing, but maybe I just got there early for that crowd.
  14. That's "Yet Another Day" by Armin van Buuren feat. Ray Wilson
  15. At Arc that night - Mario Piu, Noel Sanger, Paolo Mojo One of many options...
  16. Supposedly the club will be open til 10 am So maybe Tiesto will play an extended set to make it all worthwhile? Isn't that Arc event sounding good now? But first... Who's going to be suckers for Tiesto and end up paying at least $200 for it? I'll probably be one of them. I'd have trouble going 14 hours without eating, so I'll probably pay $350 for the gold, to get the buffet, and make sure I eat $150 worth of food (and drinks I guess). btw, I searched on Travelocity, and found flights to LA for under $400 RT. Advanced tix for the event for $65. http://www.groovetickets.com/ordersystem/groove/eventviewqb.asp?AffilID=93&EventsID=3231&PGname=Giant So with $450, you could go spend NYE with PVD, Howells, and several other DJ's
  17. Danny Howells doing a techno set then
  18. It was great inside... if you could get inside The wait outside Filter 14 was not so great, at least for uncool people like me Well, at least you could listen to the music a little while waiting in line Things were also great at Baktun, which is where I spent some time while waiting for the line at Filter 14 to die down. Too bad I missed seeing Sven Vath spin. I probably would have missed him anyways if I had continued waiting in line at Filter. A bigger space is definitely needed for the next time Vath and Hawtin play together (or perhaps even individually), even on a Monday night.
  19. Just saw the flyer of Arc's December events... DJ Remy will also be spinning that night!
  20. Sick like how John Digweed was over the weekend, making him miss the Philly gig?
  21. Get it while you can, at http://www.djmixes2k.com/index2.php
  22. The min age for car rentals is 21, but if you're under 25, a surcharge is added If you're near Long Island, and can fly out of Islip, you can take Southwest to Fort Lauderdale Maybe you can get a Promotional Fare as low as $128
  23. Jetblue flies into Fort Lauderdale, which is less than an hour away.
