  2. Talla's mixing was kinda but it was a great night all around. Great opening by Gaafar El Mallah. Victor Dinaire played for 3 hours, closing at 8:00 AM (which I believe is a record for an Arc trance night), including an hour and a half of hard stuff for the Factory heads Lots of peeps, but the place wasn't quite as crowded as many thought it would be as a result of Exit and SF being closed. I think it was the largest crowd I've seen left at the end on a trance night (with the exception of PVD) Too bad I missed out on Krafty Kuts. He ended not long after Talla did - I stayed on the main floor for 4 songs of Victor's set, then went back, and he was on his last track.
  3. What's good on Thursdays for the early hours? Preferable location would be Chelsea or Flatiron, so that it would be easy to go over to Discotheque and Centro-Fly afterwards.
  4. I thought I saw this event listed for Saturday, but I don't see it now. Does anyone know if this is still happening? If so, exactly when and where? For those who haven't been to Ibiza and don't know about the events there, this is the name of the after-party that takes place at Space on Thursday mornings, following the Amnesia foam party (La Troya, I believe). I've heard that DJ Oliver, one of the residents, is great. I thought I saw him listed for the Miami event. I'd love to hear for myself. Too bad I was short on funds while in Ibiza.
  5. On (the new) TNN, starting at 2 pm Culminating with the "Blind Date's Ultimate Guide to Dating" at 8 pm Schedule: http://www.thenewtnn.com/schedule/index.jhtml?day=1&zone= Has anyone seen any of their videos (like "Blind Date Uncensored")? How are they? Info at: http://www.getblinddate.com/
  6. Is Groovetickets the only way to order them in advance? Tickets ordered that way would be picked up at will call, right? Or are there other ways to get tickets for this?
  7. Did anyone else go? First off, from what I heard over the net, the Essential Selection party earlier sounded nice. Was Gabriel & Dresden there? Tong mentioned three of their cuts being played. I think there was also Dirty Vegas doing an acoustic version of "Days Gone By". Too bad I missed the DJ on the Phone segment with Danny Tenaglia Maybe someone who was actually there could correct, confirm, or clarify. I tried signing up to get on the list to get in, but there wasn't room for me... I got a comp for that night out of it though. btw, after that show, BBC did a broadcast from Harlem for their hip-hop show that followed. Now for the evening's event... Place was packed. Vibe was good for the most part. He certainly has a following. But I felt a good number of elbows - seemed there were some people that didn't seem to respect other people's (including mine) dancing space. Music was good and kept me dancing, though I didn't feel it was mind-blowing. If you tune in tonight (or throughout the coming week), you'll hear what Tong played 2-3 am and then Onionz 3-4. Tong started at 12:45 am and got some not-so-good mixes out of the way before the recording started. Even early in the recorded set, I think he quickly faded out of some mixes that were off. See if you hear them yourself and agree. Smokin Jo did a nice opening set too. Did anyone see the mics that were supposedly put up around the dance floor to capture the sounds of the crowd cheering? Tong mentioned them, but even after looking I didn't see them. From what I saw on the calendar downstairs, seems like Centro has a lot coming up. Satoshi Tomiie on Feb 13. Telepopmusik and Dirty Vegas will be coming in on Fridays. Too bad I don't remember the others, but you'll hear about them soon.
  8. taking effect Feb 1 http://www.vzmultimedia.com/customersupport/areacodes/newyork/important_info_advice_newyork_2.html this appears to especially apply to people calling the same area code as their own
  9. Looks like a show has been added for the following night (Mar 8) as well http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/735018/
  10. Though a bit late... I could be wrong, but there usually isn't too much on Wednesdays I guess it's the calm before the storm that starts on Thursday I've gone to Flow on a Wednesday once before, and enjoyed it there. There's some erotic theme party there next week http://www.sheckys.com/flow/index.htm
  11. oh it looks like that place uses Ticketmaster, so I'm guessing that tickets for this event will be available there as well. If there are other ways, I'd like to know!
  12. Is there any way to get tix other than by going to the box office?
  13. In My Arms ? http://www.lyricsdomain.com/lyrics/9379/
  14. Comps might be tough to get, but the best places to get info (like flyers with discounts) seem to be record stores and clubs Outside a club you'll usually see people passing out flyers

  16. Here's a silly question... perhaps more for the guys, unless you're a girl who makes more than your man When you go clubbing with your significant other, do you ever pay for cover for both yourself and (let's just say, to make this simple) her? If so, how often? Never, rarely, occassionally, usually, always? IMO, in NYC, you probably need to be making pretty good money in order to do that regularly
  17. what I've read: (I take no responsibility for the accuracy of the content ) Essential Selection will be broadcasted from the Pinky that afternoon, probably 1-4 pm Doors open at 12:30 pm To get on the list for comp admission for you and a guest, email: radio1nyc@centro-fly.com My guess is that the Essential Mix will be a set taken from that night's event
  18. Is there any info on how to buy tickets, especially for out-of-towners?
  19. That's what it says on his site http://www.talla.de More trance at Arc, this time of the German kind There will be no resting up for DT's President's Day event!
  20. Much better turnout than the previous trance nights (j00f and Marco V) The main floor seemed to be filled until 4 am Eddie Bang opened, Hardwick came on at 2 and spun til 5, then Bill Patrick took over and went til 7:30. The arcade seemed to have more people than the main floor in the last hour or so.
  21. I believe that's usually the Asseteria crew I haven't heard them, but sometimes they fill in for DT on Fridays at Arc when he's out of town According to the robpromotions site, there's also DJ boris & hector fonseca for tonight
  22. I had fun hanging out in the midnight room with the TA's (not Teaching Assistants ) It was quite cold in there, I must admit
  23. Try it this Thursday (or any Thursday thereafter), when Subliminal Sessions starts up again I'm sure details will soon come out about how to get in for free
  24. Also a President's Day marathon set appears to be in the works. If Love from NYC will still be happening earlier that Sunday, people could try doing an Arc-athon and go the distance at both.
  25. I think they used to have reduced admission before a certain time, but looking at their website (http://www.clubshelter.com), it looks like that may have changed. It says general admission is $17 (I guess all night/morning), and $15 for people going in with a member. Become a member, go there for $12 every time Contact Robbi (robbi@clubshelter.com is what I see on the site) - it might be late now, but maybe next time he can hook you up.
