  1. check that, its jim masters every week, but Carl doesnt have a residency there anymore. Even better at the same venue is the Wednsday party Swerve with Fabio. If ya like DnB that is.
  2. his ultimate base residency ended a while ago; i think thats whats being discussed. Now its just Jim Masters every month.
  3. right in the middle of exams, aint that a bitch?!?!
  4. I'll take Fonty over Oakey any day of the week (specifically Thursday the 18th)
  5. The import of Global is 2CDs. More expensive, but worth it.
  6. The concept of "mixed by craig david" is too funny. Who knew he DJed? If you want a 2step CD shell out some cash for Garage Fever. Its an import, but its 3 CDs and much more representative of where the scene is at now than all that melodic artful dodger stuff that really doesn't get played much anymore. Any of the EZ mix cds are good too. Most of 2step sounds more like Misssy Elliot than the Dreem Team these days, so know what to expect.
  7. listened to it a few days ago, it's really good. Smokin Jo is very underrated; her Muzik Cd was amazing. I just didn't feel like paying $30 for another damn import.
  8. Thats good to hear. I can't make this show, but hopefully he will make NYC a regular stop. As I said, when he's on, he can be top notch.
  9. Jules is definitely at the cheesier end of the legitimate DJ spectrum. He's sort of a joke in the UK, but he's got a lot of skill and can be great if he's intent on playing a real set and not just banging together some big trance numbers for the ravers. He admits that a lot depnds on the venue; he plays cheesier at bigger cheesier clubs and better and deeper at clubs like Turnmills where he repects the audience. What he'll think of Exit I don't know, but I'd guess for the worse. At least he doesn't play the bugle during his sets like he used to a few years ago.
  10. I'm not alone! This track kicks like a mule. I've been pounding it for a while now. Nice to see I'm not just a weirdo.
  11. This is arguably the coolest thing I have ever seen. Well maybe not, but it's close.
  12. well, thats what the shelter website says, as of april 18. Anyone know anything about this switch? Will Seb be going with them?
  13. A general rule to live by is, if you don't know what you're talking about, keep your mouth shut. From these posts its pretty obvious that most of you frat bashers have very little understanding of frats outside of a couple viewings of animal house. As someone was was in a fraternity I can tell you that, while every organization has its bad apples, most of the people I met through the greek scene (and it was a very large one, U of Michigan) thoroughly defy the ignorant stereotypes you all are dealing in. My fraternity days may have taught me how to drink, but they also taught me responsibility, respect, hard work, comradery, trust, humility and a million other positive values. I never cheated on an exam, roofed a girl, or was disresepectful of independants (like my girlfriend). And most people I knew were the same way. I really wonder about people who have nothing better to do than perpetuate ill informed negative stereotypes about others. Much of the criticism of fraternities is that they encourage conformity and a lack of indepednant thought, but most people who continually bash fraternities in this way are guilty of exactly that same evil. If you weren't in a frat, fine, that is your choice, but stop thinking that makes you better than those who do join, because it just isn't true.
  14. Vath, but it really is all about Warren the next week. God I love Vinyl sometimes.
  15. actually MOS can be fun, if you go on the right nights. Make sure to check time out or at least Mixmag or something for lineups. Their new Tough, Tribal, and Twisted night looks great. Plus it's a cool venue with an amazing system. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the End is great too. usually very techno, but Steve Lawler has a night there too. Then again, since you asked about Exit you might want to check out Bagley's; its huge and has more of that sort of vibe and music. For quality though, Turnmills, Fabric and the End lead the pack.
  16. Turnmills is the shit! Never made it to fabric though. Vinyl's lineups have been absurd. Can't wait for Nick Warren.
  17. i went i hated it i'll never go again end of story really
  18. Well that was supposed to be my first time seeing PVD, but its hard for me to really say I saw him, considering I couldn't get anywhere near the main floor all night. I spent the whole time on the 4th floor, because it was the only place with enough space to breath, let alone dance. I don't know how packed Sf usually gets, but that was an absolute joke. Just because 10,000 people show up doesn't mean you have to let them all in. Just way, way, way too many people. It was like nothing I've ever seen. To make matters worse, I've never seen a more cracked out crowd in my life. Was there anyone there who wasn't tweaked off their face? No wonder people call it Crack Factory. Just an aweful vibe all the way around. I prefer clubs were people go because they love the music, love to dance, and love to just enjoy themselves; SF seems to be all about getting real fucked up and posing with your chemically/surgically enhanced body. PVD was fine, but I'll never go near SF again as long as live. Nice soundsystem though.
  19. oh yeah, Rolando is great too, him and Bone are the best in Detroit right now
  20. Tenaglia Deep Dish Cox Murk Warren Tom Stephan Lawler Digweed Vath Yousef Man thats a predictable list, oh well, most Djs are at the top for some good reason - though there are exceptions! (Hon mentions to Seaman, Onionz, Fabio, Steve Thomas, Dave Clarke, Burridge, Garnier) 2 that were very disappointing-Ashley Casselle and Stacey Pullen
  21. while he was playing "In and out of my life" at about 8:00 (post happy birthday) he stood up on something in the booth and danced around on it for a bit wearing -- well nothing actually. It was sorta disturbing, he later said that he did it on a dare. I have a feeling Mama had more fun than any of us at that party.
  22. "fucking freaks need to get rid of the obsession over bright lights" Classic observation!!! I wish Vinyl would police that no glowsticks policy closer, I'm sick of getting smacked in the head by stupid ravers waving shit around. I had to grab one ugly fucker and hold his arms in while i walked by the other night. Losers need to go back to Exit.
  23. The post Elvis/b-day part of the party was much better and much more representative of DT's sound. Before then he ws just trying to get people jacked up, which i guess that track does, though i hated it rather intensely. I guess it was nice of DT to play it considering JP was there, but if i wanted to hear aggressive, noisy crap like that I'd go to CBGB's, not Vinyl. Its 180 degrees from the Be Yourself vibe. Fucking amazing party though, particularly later on.
  24. Behrouz, if you want the proper spelling. He was good, as are all Danny's guests. JP was there, but didn't play thank god. that one JP track Danny played was painful enough.
