  1. I will keep this extremely short b/c I am tired trans fat is short for TRANS unsaturated fatty acids. There are two basic categories of fats. Saturated and unsaturated fat. A few years back it was thought that saturated was bad and unsaturated was good. If you have even a very basic chem background, this is very simple and easy to understand. The sat is bad b/c the Carbon - Carbon bonds join at 109 degrees and a long chain will form a zig zag. This makes two molecules of this easy to stack or stick to each other. This stacking is what clogs arteries. Recently researchers have found that not all types of unsaturated fats are good. There are two types of unsaturated. CIS and TRANS. I do not want to go into the molecular structure of the two compounds but basically the double bond arrangment in the CIS molecule does NOT allow the fat molecules to stack to it will not clog arteries. However, the TRANS configuration is more prone to stacking than even saturated fats, so this type of fat is worse than saturated. Also, not only does the CIS not stack, but if it is taken into the blood stream it will bind with existing fat in the arteries and help remove it from the system.   4. We have not heard different. We have read the study, which has every up in arms over nothing. It was a study done in europe and showed no actually correlation between fish and mercury poisoning in the US. Obviously women who are pregnant or who might become pregnant should use caution. Nautica
  5. Do something similar to the rountine I mentioned above. Do NOT do you pushups or other crap on the days off. That will keep your body from growing. Rest is extremely important, take advantage of it. Nautica

  7. Don't believe everything you see on TV. Especially from subway. Most deli meats are high in fat and bread is loaded in processed carbs. If you are going to make a sandwhich stick to whole grain breads and make sure your deli meat is not injected with fat. Also, leave off the mayo. And a subway size 6" is way too much bread. Nautica

  10. You said you were wanting to bulk. If that is the case and it is hard for you to gain, then cardio should be kept to a minimum. As far as abs, 3 times per week should be plenty.
  11. Okay, let's start with your training Spend no more than 90 minutes in the gym. 60 minutes is even better. Socialize elsewhere. If you want to pick up chicks, dont do it at the gym, it waste your gym time and you are not fine enough for the girls to want you to waste theirs. High intensity. Each workout you should push for the next level wether it be one more rep or more weight on a particular lift. Our goal here is to shoot for 10-12 reps of each set. That does not mean count to 10 and stop. What that means is do as much weight as possible, given that ranges of reps. If this week you get 12 easily, then you need to add weight next week. If this week you only get 8 or 9 reps, then next week go for 10 or 12. I think you get the picture. As far as actual sets, you need to keep it simple. Stick to the basics in order to build a good foundation. I know that the old fucker in the gym has a fancy bicep routine, which is the sole reason that Arnold had his 21 inch arms, but you don't need that one just yet. Monday Chest 4 x12 flat bench dumbell presses 4 x 12 flat bench barbell presses 4 x 12 Incline dumbell presses 4 x 12 Cable Cross Overs Tuesday Back 4 x 12 Wide Grip Pull ups to the chest 4 x 12 Row machine 4 x 12 Lat pulls 4 x 12 Back extensions Wed Shoulders 4 x 12 dumbell military presses 4 x 12 smith machine militar presses 4 x 12 Side raises 4 x 12 Shrugs Thursday Legs 4 x 12 squats 4 x 12 leg presses 4 x 12 leg curls 4 x 12 leg extensions Friday Biceps and triceps I would do supersets with these Dumbell curls Dumbell extensions Bent Barbell curls Cable press downs Cable curls Supanated cable extensions Just keep it simple and get you a good burn out. You need to work in abs and calves somewhere in this routine. If anybody has something to add or I missed something, feel free to add. If it appears I screwed something up, your comments are welcome.   12. No I dont go to the gym to get freaky and big. And what you mentioned about Yoga is correct (except for the fact that Madona looks so good b/c of it) but at times it appears that some think it can be substituted for weight training or cardio. I knew the answer before I asked, I just wanted to see what the reply would be. nautica
  13. How experienced are you at weight training. Do you understand the basic lifts, such as bench press, squats, shoulder presses, tricep extensions and bicep curls??? Also, if you are wanting to add muscle - you do not want a high protein low carb diet. Low carb diets will cause muscle atrophy. Are you a hard gainer? Do you put on muscle easy or is it difficult for you to put on mass? Do you put on fat easily? A picture would be very helpful here. As far as your training routine, I need to know more about your experience with weights. But, either way, you will need to stick with a veru basic routine with high intensity. Would you prefer a routine that is 3 or 4 days on and 1 day off. Or would you rather work out 5 days during the week and take off both days during the weekend. Also, how much do you know about nutrition??? Nautica
  14. Post your stats, training experience/knowlege, diet, age, ect..... The more info you can give us, the more we can help. and a picture is worth a 1000 words. Also, what are your goals? Have you set goals? Are you willing to sacrifice to meet these goals? Do you have a specific time and/or event that you are wanting to look good for or are looking to improve your overall health???   15. And as far as stretching the muscles for the "leaner" look. While, it may stretch the muscles to allow for more growth, it will not make them longer. Muscles have a set distance between which they can grow. They are not made longer. I will point out one example for you. Flex wheeler. He could strecth and bend as far as any yoga "specialist" and if you have ever seen him you would know the "lean look" he was not. And before all of you Yoga lovers jump my ass. I am not degrading Yoga the least bit, just like I do not degrade people who like going shopping, or people who relax by riding their motorbikes. I am just trying to figure out how Yoga fits into a health and fitness lifestyle anymore than what I have just mentioned. Nautica
  16. Someone explain to me the benefits of yoga. Don't say for stretching muscles, b/c that is something that can be done in 10 minutes before a workout. If you say it is for relaxation, that is fine. Everyone has their own way of relaxaing. But, lets strickly talk about the health and fitness beneifits of it. Lets assume a person has a typical schedule. Has very limited time and at the most has 1 hour 3 to 5 times per week to do some type of workout. Would you suggest Yoga, if so, explain why. Now, if you have plenty time to train with weights, for cardio, and for life in general, I am not concerned with your response. Let's speak of reality, for those people who have very little time to concentrate on their health. Should Yoga play a part in this and why? Also, any studies relating yoga to health would be nice as well. Nautica
  17. Bad advice. Do not send as fast as possible. Regular mail gets checked less than priority or express. And do NOT us UPS or FED EX. Private carriers can check packs without any reason. The PO must have a reason to check a pack , at least they did before 911, now it is easier for them to check but still better than private carriers. Nautica

  20. Yes, my knowlegde is limited. Extremely limited. And, I would hope that nobody is even slightly impressed. As far as your Case study: Mike Matarazzo would be a good initial subject, that way would could objectively speak about the benefits and/or dangers of being a professional body builder. One other thing. a well known side of AAS is elevated triglicerides and chorlesterol levels in the blood. This on top of any diet, which is extremely high in calories (be it fast food or not) will have and most likely in Mike's case did have a detrimental effect on his health. And the main reason I jumped on this post so quickly is of your irrational thoughts of a conspiracty theory. They stated his arteries were 90% blocked. What is so hard to believe about that. Years of juice, bulking diet, and a propensity toward this condition final took its toll. Nobody, was hiding anything, they just stated the facts: He had 90% blockage. They did not mention what led to it, nor should they have. Now, I guess it is left to the great minds of captainpec and nautica to fight it out. And, besides how can a discussion board be exciting without a heated discussion. Don't take everything so personal, b/c I can assure you I don't.   21. Healthy life style??? Since when has bodybuilding became a healthly lifestyle. When was the last time you sat down and looked at a bulking diet. Not, to mention the juice (which you already did) and the diuretics. Professional bodybuilding has gotten entirely out of hand and is probably the absolute worst professional sport in the world, in regards to personal health. I would rate it as high as sumo wrestling. Like I have mentioned a 1000 x's BB will never be mainstream unless some serious changes are made. Nautica

  23. I dont see what your concern is. Make sure there is no prints on the pack. Put a different return addy on it. Drop it off at a drop off box. How in the hell do you ever expect to get caught. The only possiblity would be your friend turning you in, but even then you deny it. If someone on this board can please explain to me how in the hell this person could ever get caught, then please do. If not, then there is no reason to scare this person. Now, if you are recieving drugs that is a different issue. But, I believe discofreak covered that one. Just make sure your house is clean when you recieve a package.
