  1. It still is, and will continue to be, a catering hall.
  2. The scene is far from dead. You just have to know where to look. Most of the great parties aren't advertised with a lot of hoopla.
  3. Missile Defense is a waste of money. There's no guarantee any such system would work. In fact, the Chinese are developing nuclear techonology that would be able to penetrate a missile defense system. The best deterrence we have against a nuclear launch is the fact that we have a large nuclear stockpile. Any country that nukes the United States knows very well they would be pounded into oblivion. A bigger concern for us, is terrorists' use of nuclear weapons. There are reportedly 80 or so suitcase nukes that are missing from the former Soviet Union and unaccounted for. It's been reported that Al Qaeda purchased suitcase nukes in '98. If that's true, we should be much more worried about that than a missile strike. They don't have the power of an ICBM, but would cause mass devastation and make a city uninhabitable for a long time.
  4. Judge Jules sucks big moose cock.
  5. Fly Life by Tricia Romano Party Politics http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0404/flylife.php Oh yes, I almost forgot. I hear that Centro-fly has been sold to the owners of Miami's swanky, fabulous Bed. The club will remain in its current form until March, I'm told, and then the South Beach nightspot owners take over, presumably remaking it in Bed's own very lounge-y, very glammy, very bottle-service-y image. Not fantastic news for those of us who don't want to shell out $300 for a bottle of vodka that goes for $25 at the corner store. However, I did see Richie Hawtin spin at Bed during the Winter Music Conference last year, so perhaps your financial pain will be eased by good music. At the very least, if the music sucks you can take a nap on one of the many, erm, beds. C-fly co-owners Tom Sisk and David Baxley could not be reached for comment, but Candice Ferreira of Bed nicely replied to my queries. "Dear Tricia, We have no official comments yet for the press regarding BED NY. Keep in touch within the next few months or check out our website calendar of events page for future details." Will do, Candice! Contrary to popular belief, club people can be so helpful. Also on the chopping block is Arc, née Vinyl, which we hear has been sold and is to be remade into an actual money-making venture—luxury apartments. On Sinvin Realty's website, it says that 6 Hubert Street is "in contract," and the agency's director of commercial realty, Jeremy Markoe, confirmed that there is an "accepted offer," and expected the deal—which "well exceeded" $18 million—to close "by the end of the month." He also added that the building would be "residentially converted," which means no more Arc. When contacted, however, Arc's main man, Mike Bindra, denied that the club or the building it is a part of has been sold, saying, "It is not true. The building is on the market, [and] has been on the market for quite some time, but has not been sold. Should the status of the building change, I will certainly let you know." Thanks, Mike! (See, I told you club people were helpful.) Bindra also added that the club has events booked through April, and says, "Over the years there have been numerous potential deals on the building with many expected contract/deal dates that have come and gone . . . still no sale." We also heard that Spirit shut down for the month of January because it wasn't doing so hot, and that they decided to scrap the whole spiritual shebang. However, the club's publicist, Maggie Stein, (she really is helpful) said that the Body/Mind/Soul concept will still be intact, but that they are regrouping and relaunching at the end of the month with Cornelis Craane, formerly of Expo, helping out. The reopening is slated for February 7, and starting late February, Ms. Maggie says that the club/spa/restaurant will be open on Friday nights as well. After all this craziness, I might need to get a massage

  7. I'll be there. This is probably the last anniversary party ever at ARC--might as well go out with a bang.
  8. He used to open for Sasha and Digweed all the time.
  9. I can only imagine how crowded it will be that night. Haven't heard Sasha and Digweed together in years!
  10. He didn't say JP gains anything. He's not going back to SF. There's too much bad blood between RG and JP at this point. Like he said, the moderator of his forum who works for JP said he's not going back, so everyone should get over it already. Life moves on.
  11. If arc hasn't shut down by them he'll most likely be there. arc's days are numbered, enjoy it while it's still there!
  12. Start practicing this phrase: "Would you like fries with that?" It may help in the job search.
  13. Not really, he's just a moron; and he wonders why he's unemployed.?!?!
  14. I went to high school with Tommy. Wait till he finds out. I can't fucking believe this shit.
  15. These are comments or excerpts from comments on JP's board. If this is your idea of good management, you should stay away from running a business and stick to flipping hamburgers. Shutting off A/C, "Express" coat check for $20, the smell of urine and feces in the bathroom etc., yeah sounds like a WELL RUN club.
  16. Did you expect anything less? This is EXIT we're talking about. Worst club and management in the city.
  17. nah, on sundays you can't sell liquor between 4AM and 12PM. on weekdays you can't sell liquor from 4AM to 8AM. The all night permit basically allows you to sell alcohol during the blacked out period of 4am to 8am. after that, assuming the place has a license, they can sell alcohol as they normally would. so eddie was right in the original post. here's the law. the all night permit makes an exception to the normal law below: Sec. 106.5 - Provisions governing licensees to sell at retail for consumption on the premises. No alcoholic beverages shall be sold, offered for sale, or given away upon any premises licensed to sell alcoholic beverages at retail for on-premises consumption during the following hours: Sunday, from four antemeridian to twelve Noon On any other day between four antemeridian and eight antemeridian Nor shall any person be permitted to consume any alcoholic beverages upon any such premises later than one-half hour after the start of the prohibited hours of sale provided for in this section.
  18. u were right the first time around. i'm an expert on this. here's the deal so everyone can shut the fuck up and go get wasted. the license gives you an extension of closing time from 4am to 8am. those are the times you normally can't sell liquor in new york county. after 8AM you're allowed to sell liquor again assuming you are licensed and it's not a sunday. so basically by giving you a 4 hour extension it has allowed you to sell liquor for 24 hours.
  19. Don't waste your time. The sad thing is, this asswipe normalnoises is in his forties, he makes screen names to bash his allies, himself, insinuate he desires to molest his daughter etc., and to boot, he has the maturity of a 4 year old when it comes to having any sort of political discussion. Pathetic waste of a human life, seriously.
  20. He started off weak for a few hours but turned up the heat for the last 6 hours of his set. He did NOT drop any trance. I'm sure I know which tracks you are referring to and they are NOT trance tracks. If his set had been strong throughout I would have given DT an A, but since I didn't like how he opened, I give the set an A-. Danny overall played a great set, take it from someone who goes wayyyyyyyyyy too much. Danny comes out of the booth every so often, he's done it several times this year, so it's not something new to hardcore DT followers. And many people shook his hand, gave him pats on the back etc. Were you expecting the crowd to mob DT and put him on their shoulders? DT's not about that, he tries to emphasize that he's one of us, not someone to be worshipped. And big props to Saeed and Palash, they were ridiculous from start to finish.
  21. He was AWFUL and he DID trainwreck more than once. EDIT: When I say "trainwreck" I mean his beatmatching was off on more than one occasion. Also this is the second time I've heard him, and he sucked both times. Never again.
  22. Ok, now go post with your alter ego AMERICANMADE how you love George Bush, you stupid fuckstick.
  23. Twilo had an amazing sound system, the acoustics of the space had a lot to do with how sound carried there. The system at Maze in Miami is up there though. It's one of two Funktion One sound systems in the world, the other being Space in Ibiza. The Funktion One system blows away most Phazon setups IMO.
  24. Toy store banners? And the girl at the door was a chunker you say? Wrong place man. Sulli is one of the most chill venues in the city. And Swamy is consistently throwing some of this city's best parties. That's the first time I've heard of anyone having door problems there.
