  1. Throw away the template and rejoice!!! I've had my week's fill of buggin ya guys about that club. I won't bring it up again if you won't...
  2. Hey what music do you remember from back then??? I'm not exactly sure what type of music you were listening to but fill me in if you would.
  3. Hey hey xlr8ted!!! - What's up with ya homie??? You have the dubious honor of being my fave person on the board now... Whoo hoo!
  4. fine fine fine - I'm just a newbie to this board and wanted to talk about music and all I have to offer as of now is what I know and that's Simon's but I WILL STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!!!! And rejoice people!!! This is the last week I'm going to be able to post to the board like this. Right now I'm at work with absoltuely nothing to do but to troll around on this board. Sorry to be a pest.
  5. I'm just interested in seeing if some of you guys retain info like this. Song that got me into music: Yaz's "Don't Go" (in 1983) 8th grade http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/dontgo.mp3 1st song I heard at the New Wave club Einstein-A-Go-Go in Jacksonville Bch, FL: Depeche Mode's "StrangeLove" (Maxi-mix) (in 1984) http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/strangelove.mp3 1st song I heard at that club (& it's the song that got me into house music): K-Klass's "Rhythm Is A Mystery" (in 1991) http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/rhythmisamystery.mp3 btw, when I say "house" I mean all forms of electronica.
  6. True 'nuff. I say some foolish shite sometimes... Sine you're jumping down my throat so much, tho, I would like to know more about your history. Like when did you start going out and what got in you involved into the scene? PM if you want.
  7. Like I said before: I say what I know and house music hit Florida around 1991. The first CD I bought had Transformer 2's "Pacific Symphony" & Praga Kahn's "Injected With a Poison". The 2nd CD had Opus III's "It's A Fine Day". I know house started earlier but it didn't hit the Florida scene until '91. I'm super sorry to offend thee Jim.
  8. Oh, I'll be the 1st to attest I don't know much. All I know is what I've heard and all I've heard is what hit Florida back from 91-95 (& of course I know 80's too). I can chat your ears off about the FL scene back then but, yes, there's a whole universe out there that I have no inkling to. However, I'm back for more now. If you see me on the floor take a moment to say "Hey, I love this song too" or "Check out this or that night". I'll love ya forever if we find music as a common bond.
  9. I'm guessing this article isn't online somewhere is it? Does anyone know the URL for the mag itself?
  10. Clarification: I would like to hear some early house (1991-95) out and about but I'm thinking the only way I can do this is to actually spin the stuff myself. I have all the music from back then so now all I need to know is how to operate like the "cd j-1000" or something. Matching beats isn't a high priority at the moment but, of course, I'll be more than happpy to learn how to do that too. If you would like to hear the music I would like to spin download this cd: http://www.cjmikey.com/chris/Chris%20Harshman%20-%20Volume%202.mp3 *please download it to your harddrive. It's over 80MB in size (it's a full CD). The CD is mixed but I used a shareware product to mix it so I wouldn't be able to do this in a club. However, the problem is I'd rather dance then spin. So if you like the music and play out somewhere, and don't have it, please contact me. I will be more than happy to give you the MP3 if you're going to play it out and about.
  11. I listen to electronic dance music 99.99%. Ever since I heard Vince Clarke's Yaz in the 8th grade I've been hooked on synths. The only non-synth group I've listened to is The Smiths back in the 80's. Everything else has been computer generated, from New Order and Depeche Mode to the current Electro sound. But please don't tell me I'm missing out. You have no idea the impact the decisions on what I listen to have made on my life. Dancing was a huge part of me and my friendships and is and always will be a part of who I am. So if I choose to listen to EDM 24/7 then leave me be, go listen to your own headphones.
  12. I have been given permission to spin all the music from Simon's if I want. The only problem is I don't spin. I have all the music, I just don't spin. HOWEVER, I'll be using digital files (CD's, MP3's, whatever) - no lp's. So if you could teach me I would be enternally grateful. The parites would be in NYC so I'm posting here for possible future classics & requests parties in the city. I can pay you. Would anyone even be interested in dancing to House music from it's start in 1991 until 1995? Every song to really hit the Simon's crowd will be in this collection. The deal is, Chris Harshman doesn't live here in NYC. But he let me borrow his entire lp collection for over a year so i have it all. ACTUALLY - there's a problem here. I'd rather be dancing then spinning. That's why I'm not a DJ. In 1991 I was offered to be taught but I told him I'd rather be on the floor dancing then behind a booth spinning. I've kicked myself for that plenty of times but it's true. Teach me how to spin and most likely I'll just give you the files so I can just dance to them (that is, I mean, if you're really into the stuff). 5 BIG hits that speaks volumes about the collection: "Song of Life", "Paragliders", "Love Stimulation", "Te Amo", "Perfect Motion". Let's discuss - PLEASE!!!!!
  13. Are you guys fucking with me, honestly? I came to this board to find a place that was all about the music. I am truly sorry if I've gone off the deep end about Simon's and thus me spitting out that line a few too many times. But I wanted you guys to know just what Simon's meant to the DJ'ing community and to those of us who went there. OKOKOK U R fucking with me!!!! Sorry to be such a freak on these pages but I have a combo of being a freak about music and nothing do to at work for the next week so these pages are the only thing that have been keeping me entertained. I'll learn my lessons as time goes by. Until then, hope to see some of you on the dance floor.
  14. Jim - are you intentionally trying to dispute everything I say? Sure, it was always me, Heather & Chris at his house listening to tunes and sure we would say "we love that" or use our "veto" power. However, Chris worked the remaining crowd and they loved it. Sure you'll get the occassional person who says he sucks but they're saying that most likely because they don't like him as an individual. Hey he was a jerk, but he was also my best friend. Maybe it's hard for me not to be objective but what we had back then was special. Hopefully I can find that in NYC where it's all about the music and getting down to it.
  15. HAHAHA - Chris microwaving K - how classic!!!! He was an idiot but he knew how to rock Simon's all night long. Shit i remember when Hardkiss was at Simon's and Chris had just gone on. Hardkiss was using my pipe and I asked him to hurry up so I could go dance. Apparently this got him all upset because he went to Simon and demanded to go on again right then. Well he got he wish and he COMPLETELY cleared the dance floor. Point is - Chris knew how to work us because he played what we wanted to hear. Wow some of you people in NYC are one thing, that's for sure. "It's his own fault for leaving his LP bag unlocked"???? It's this type of thug-mentality that leaves NYC with a bad rap. It's definitly not the music scene I want to be in.
  16. BTW, did this happen in NYC??? The ONLY time I heard this happening to Chris was when he came to NYC. And you're kinda pissing me off, Chris & I were absolute best friends at Simon's.
  17. I've already have had a couple of suggestions made to me. Got any ideas yourself? I want it to be an invitation only "members" thing now to keep assholes that still from other assholes record bags. Be an asshole all you want but stealing records is the worst.
  18. OK, I can understand not liking the guy, Chris could be a real asshole. But stealing from him??? It's f*ckers like you that are the reasons why I can't hear the real good mix of Lisa Stansfield's "Keep on Moving" (don't laugh - it was a great mix) but SOMEONE stole his records when he came to NYC. You expect any sort of respect telling me you stole records? SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHO THIS GUY IS. HE IS NOT COMING TO THE SIMON'S PARTY (YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, IF WE HAVE ONE) - Hate Chris all you want but don't steal his shit - you're not only affecting him but your affecting the people who wanted to hear his music. And if he sucked so bad then why did Simon have him as the headliner from 91 - 95??? Simon wasn't stupid.
  19. Here's a quick sample playlist of what'll be playing at the party: Melt - Be Liquid VOID - Moonchild Here I Come - Rollo We Shall Be - Well Hung Parlament Perfect Motion - Sunscreem Give Up The Funk - DJ Pierre The Theme - Black Girl Rock Dance No More - E-lustrious Yerba Del Diablo - Datura Fruit of Love - Transformer 2 If you want any of these MP3's, or any like them, give me a shout.
  20. Well seeing that every ex-Simon'ers I've talked to is planning on coming, and Chris Harshman has already agreed to play the night, all I have to do is get in touch with Simon himself and it'll be official. Simon will say yes to me. The man always had a problem with saying the word "no" to me. Simon was a blast. I really do think he'll want to come to his own party. Even if it's just me and Chris playing in my own house, the party is happening. Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to get a HUGE name like Paul to play. If Simon wants to try then more power to him.
  21. Which DJ are you talking about? Simon's had like 5 regs but the headliner was always Chris Harshman. If you're speaking of Chris then any of the Simon's regulars would love to dispute the theory. But then again, it depends on what you were into - to each his own. Did you go after 1995?
  22. i'll chime in = you think this DJ Siano is all that? if so, silverbull, i'm trusting your judgement and going.
  23. Actually it was the most serious thing to happen to me in my life but I'm all better now. Thanks for askin.
  24. Don't make me get all "industry" on you Jim!!!! (just kiddin!)
  25. To be honest with you, I had health problems, gained massive amounts of weight and took myself off the market for about 7 or 8 years. Now things are different and I'm back and ready for action. If we're still talking about my sexlife then yeah, I've been given a few "slurpies" when needed however I haven't "dated" anyone in years and years because of my weight problem. BUT... If someone wants to go on a date with me you already know I like music and dancing - so make some rsvp's for a good Thai food joint and I'm there.
