  1. Finding that one person to hang with is ideal but a few of us don't have that at the moment. Funny thing is I had the reversal happen to me last time I went out. This pretty cool London chick kept hitting on me however when she was interupting me dancing to the song the DJ was playing for me (New Order) I finally had to give her the "I'm a homo" line. Shite didn't work tho, she was still interested. Makes me go "hmmmm" since chicks are turning so progressive these days cause I can dig me some of that mentality.
  2. After being out of the scene for quite some time I got back into buying music last year and discovered I liked Electro (not the German Techno-ish shite but more Belgium-like stuff). The only way I can pinpoint what I'm talking about is to play it for you so if you can take a moment or two to listen and suggest that would be awesome! http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/gluclich00.mp3 http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/spiltcoffee.mp3 If you can't tell I'm not the rock-n-roll kind of Electro guy but way more synth-oriented. Anything like the updated sound of 80's New Order & Depeche is exactly what I'm looking for. Can you guys point me in the right direction where I can find some clubs/DJ's that play stuff like this. I'm sure out of the zillion clubs in this town, someone has to be playing this stuff.
  3. When I got back into music last year I started buying some electro. I stopped buying stuff because I bought Logic but the last batch I got my hands on included Morillo's "What Do You Want?" ( http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/whatdoyouwant00.mp3 ) -- Can someone please please please tell me where I can dance to stuff like this? This is absolutely one of my fave tracks from my last batch - the music in it is the best Electro I've heard lately. The vocals are pretty cool too but it's ALL about the music.
  4. DJ'ing??? Don't ya know spinning tunes on tables is old news? It's all about spinning stuff via computers these days. Just-a kiddin ya ol-fashion DJ's - take a chill pill, relax and don't yell back at me!!!
  5. HOW FUNNY! I was going to post a "What came first? Dance or music?" question yesterday. For me music came first, literally. I remember the first time I danced was at Einstein's with my hands in my pocket. I had no idea how to dance. So since the music came first I'll dish out my theme/epitath: "Music was my 1st love and it will be my last. Music of the future and music of the past." I love DANCE/MUSIC - to me they're the same thing, a cause & efffect - hand in hand. Hard to seperate. Sorry to get into this so much but those 2 things are my absolute favorite things in the world. "Me" would always take 3rd place.
  6. http://www.newwavehouse.com I built this jukebox because I've loved Electronica since hearing Yaz in '83 and I want to share the music that I've come across with you. It has over 200 of the best songs of the 80's New Wave, early 90's House and Electro from 2004/05. You can either let it play for you or input request into the playlist. If you like the 80's and 90's stuff you're welcome to come to the Simon's Reunion party (where we will be playing 80's too - starting at 95 and going backwards). So if you come across a song you really like let me know and I'l make sure it's played at the party. You have time to listen to it, the party's not until May (in NYC). BTW, 1 thing: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS on the right. I don't want to hear about how it doesn't work if you haven't bothered to read the 4 steps. Yes there are bugs but the thing works.
  7. Possible tracklisting 01. Paradise 3001 - Beautification 02. Moka DJ - Republic of Moka 03. Phuture - Inside Out 04. No.Fe.Ri.Ni - Solution EP Vol. 1 05. Ege Bam Yasi - Bubble 06. Simple Symphonies - Fluxland 07. Humate - Love Stimulation 08. Interactive - Koma 09. V.F.R. - Tranceillusion 10. Terragon - Party 11. Matto Grosso - Jungle (1993 House Mix) 12. L.M.N.O. - X 13. X-Buzz - B...(trimmed) This is just one of the 3 avaiable now. There is a 2nd tape that needs to be found. It's here somewhere.
  8. I wish someone would have told Lady Miss Kier that when I went to her Leo party the other weekend. 1st time ever that I've danced to a set where the person spinning didn't even bother to try to mix. It was amusing for the 1st 4 or so songs but after hearing that for 2 hours I think you would find "skills" at least, partly, a requirement. Obviously she's not a "DJ" per say but at least don't mash up the beats so bad that they interrupt your mood while dancing.
  9. Is this sarcasm again? Or did you really check out the mp3's on my site? If so, mister, please comment 'da board on my site so I know you checked them out. if people like them i'll put more of my old simon's tapes up on my site.
  10. 3 stipulations: 1) no $30 fee 2) no hour or more wait in line 3) no huge crowds where you can't move on the floor *most important* I absolutley love electro/italo/high energy (something like early 90's house music with a tinge of piano and vocals). However the electro I'm talking about is more Belgium and less German. Basically just give me a good beat with a good bass line and I'll be there. Just don't make it sooo deep that it doesn't do much of anything (ie, deep & trancy). And sorry about the numerious postings about this but ClubPlanet wasn't posting the threads for a moment (yeah, now I know to wait... 4th day here on the planet)
  11. Sorry duplicate thread pretty much. Please go to: http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?t=280178 to answer this question. Alrightie I'll pose this question again: Where's a good place to go this weekend that doesn't cost a ton to get in, where you don't have to wait an hour in line at the door, and where it's more of an intimate affair with room on the floor to move? I'm more of a electro high-energy italo/early 90's progressive piano good-female vocal (non-gayish) house kind of guy. But anything with a good beat will do.
  12. Deepspell - Sorry for flakin and not showing up after making such a hoo-ha-ha over it. When are you playing next?
  13. Hey - if you want to get a semi-feel for what it was like outside the stage area check out my roomie dancing - http://www.cjmikey.com/heather.mov --- although we were dancing on sticks and stones on a slant we were having an awesome time.
  14. I don't spin so I don't know the name of the tracks. All I know is this is the 1st time Paul spun his mix of "Love Stimulation" in the states which is something really cool if you think about it. The only other song I can ID is Way Out West's 1st release "Shoot".
  15. Here's my present to ya: http://www.cjmikey.com/HappyBirthday.mp3 Have a good one tonight.
  16. Silverbull - your list includes the one track that changed my life and got me into electronica when I was 12 = 1983's Yaz's "Don't Go". Ever since then I've been a complete synth-head. So yeah I say just don't stop at the 90s keep going until the 80's: "Dangerous" - Depehce Mode "1963" original - New Order "Barbarism Begins at Home" - The Smiths "Children of the Revolution" - Baby Ford "Cities in Dust" - Siouxsie This list could go on & on & on....
  17. Wanna hear the first time Paul Van Dyk spun his now-classic mix of "Love Stimuation" in the USA? For the first time ever, Paul Van Dyk's first set in America is available to everyone. When Paul Van Dyk first played in America, at Simon's in 1993, noone knew who he was. In fact the question was asked "Who's Paul?". Little did we know, much did we learn that night. Imagine yourself going to see a movie you know nothing about - no big deal right? Well this turned out to be a very, very big deal. Paul instantly became my favorite and "Love Stimulation" became an instant classic. Go here to dowlnoad the "Who's Paul?" mp3's: http://www.cjmikey.com/ party party party: YOU'RE INVITED TO SIMON'S MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND GEMINI REUNION PARTY. SIMON WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE AS WILL THE RESIDENT HEADLINER OF SIMON'S, CHRIS HARSHMAN SPINNING CLASSICS FROM 1991-1995. You've all heard it before but: in 1994 the main DJ magazine, MixMag, polled the top 100 international DJ's as to their favorite place to spin. Out of the 100, 54 picked Simon's in Gainesville, FL. Paul's 1st set was at Simon's and these are the mp3's from that night. (There is a 2nd tape not yet available). Sasha's 1st night was also at Simon's and he liked it so much he came back the next week. - My goal is to have Paul spin at the Gemini party. We'll see, eh?
  18. If anyone knows Paul tell him that Michael from Simon's, the one he gave his watch to, the one that he plays "Love Stimulation" for, wants to throw a party for Simon's (ie, Simon himself). Tell him it's another Germini party - he played at the last one we had in 94 I believe. Don't get me wrong: Paul & I aren't like best friends. He just knows how much I really digged his sets and songs and he appreciated that. I just will never forget that first set he played. Check out my bestfriend dancing to Paul at Central Park this past weekend. He actually played a song, as we were leaving, that had the quote from below ("We are the music makers...."). http://www.cjmikey.com/heather.mov She has the greatest taste in music that I know. And she dances like no other. It really helps to see how she moves if you have a song playing. You'll also have to remember we were dancing on a slant with twigs and rocks underneath our feet.
  19. Simon's: Voted #1 club in world by 54 out of the top 100 intl'l DJ's in 1994 (Mixmag poll - the main DJ mag back then). Simon's is also the first club Paul Van Dyk and Sasha spun at when they first came to America. Sasha liked it so much he came back the week after. That was 10 years ago. Simon's is now having a reunion party to be held Memorial Day weekend in NYC. The resident headliner of Simon's, Chris Harshman, will be playing along with other DJ's that were part of Simon's in the early 90's. I AM PLACING THIS POSTING IN THE FLORIDA SECTION SINCE SIMON'S USED TO BE IN GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA. PLEASE LET ANYONE KNOW WHO WAS AROUND BACK THEN THAT THIS PARTY IS HAPPENING. There will be 2 parties. One with a major headliner, like Paul or Sasha hopefully (I think they would like to play in honor of Simon). The next night will be a private party with just Chris Harshman. Anyone who used to listen to him at Simon's please contact me to be put on the guestlist. Want to hear the music I'm talking about? Go to http://www.newwavehouse.com - choose "play just 90's" in the menu section. Please check out this who's who of Simon's. If you recognize anyone lemme know and you'll be getting something extra at the party. http://www.newwavehouse.com/bigger.html Also, if you have any Simon's pictures please post them. I would like to make a book for Simon and every one who submits will get a book in return.
  20. In 1994 Mixmag, the main DJ magazine, polled the top 100 Int'l DJ's as to the best place in the world to spin. Over 1/2, 54, picked Simon's in Gainesville, Florida. THIS IS A NOTICE TO ADVISE PEOPLE FROM BACK THE THAT WE ARE HOLDING A REUNION MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, 2006, IN NYC. I AM PLACING THIS IS "ALL OTHER AREAS" BECAUSE EX-SIMON'ERS ARE SPREAD ACROSS THE WORLD AND IF JUST ONE REGULAR CAN HEAR THIS IT'LL BE WORTH THE POSTING. Both Paul Van Dyk's & Sasha's 1st time playing in America was at Simon's. This isn't 100% assured but Paul Van Dyk might be playing. It all depends on when we can get in touch with him. If you know him tell him Michael from Simon's, the one he gave his watch to, is throwing a reunion party for Simon's and would like him to come especially seeing the greatest set ever was his first time at Simon's That set is available for download in the MP3 Music section of this bulletin board. We'll be celebrating Simon's and hence, hopefully, just be playing music from that era (91-95). Even if Paul can't play, Chris Harshman plays one hell of a set. Check out this picture: http://www.newwavehouse.com/bigger.html . It's a who's who of Simon's. It scrolls all the way to the right. Please contact me if you've heard of Simon's. There will most likely be two parties. One for everyone (with Paul) and then a private party for just Simon's people and their guests (probably with just Chris).
  21. THAT SHOULD BE 2006, NOT 1996. der.... Sorry to those NY'ers who've heard too much about Simon's. However I'm throwing a reunion party in May for Simon's. Simon will be there and so will the headliner from Simon's, Chris Harshman. Both Paul Van Dyk's & Sasha's very first American gigs were at Simon's. Sasha liked it so much he came back the very next week. In 1994 Mixmag polled the top 100 international dj's as to their favorite place to spin. 54 picked Simon's in Gainesville, Florida. The club was so popular with the dj's because all we cared about was the music and dancing to it. The Dream Thing: Having Paul and/or Sasha play since they started at Simon's and have them play the tunes from back then in theme of a reunion. Stuff from 1991 - 1995. Noone would know what most of that stuff was anyways. Chris Harshman would have to play too since he was the resident headliner at Simon's. We knew Chris up and down and Chris knew exactly what to play for us. This is what made Simon's so popular. Go here to download Paul's 1st ever set in America: http://www.cjmikey.com/paul More details to come. 3 fave Simon's songs of the moment: Scoraig - My "spaceship" song - has the lushest synths ever: http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/desertstorm00.mp3 Variations on a Theme - Moonchild http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/void.mp3 Perfect Motion - Sunscream - Played out quite a bit. http://www.newwavehouse.com/mp3/perfectmotion.mp3
  22. deeper one - 30 hours to go before the big event. looking forward to it. one question - is that just you spinning on "Smokesum In June"? IMO (and my limited musical termanology knowledge) it has a definite "electro" tinge to it (which I just love (minus that German crap they put out today) (something like Legowelt)). do you know if you might be playing stuff more like "Smokesum" or your deeper deepdeepdeep progressive house stuff or just a mixture of "whatever the hell i feel like" (hehe....)
  23. YO YO! funny funny funny mr... As I remember it, as if it were only yesterday, I can across YOUR posting with YOU requesting people to submit some request for classics to your thread BUD!!! However I must admit I am sooo into a few of those songs in the "Smokesum In June" stream you have on your site. SIDENOTE: I'll back up a year to '91 and instead of requesting something I'll play you a classic since you guys are raving about classics. I hated this song the 1st time I heard it but it's an absolute Florida rocker. http://www.newwavehouse.com/listen/dancenomore.mp3 - Listen and lemme know if you know it. BTW, it was central Florida, not South Florida. That's like saying the party was in NJ & not NYC.
