  1. i was not a frequenter of sexy at all, but i wouldn't mind hearing Johnny Vicious. it's been awhile since we've had some NYC hard house up in this piece.
  2. Ultra is throwing another party at the end of August (the 29 i think) on a beach in South Beach, Miami.. featuring Paul van Dyk, DJ Icey, Groove Armada, Armand van Helden, and more DJs TBA..
  3. hipsters are not just for williamsburg folks. there's tons of hipsters displaced in new york, including LIC!
  4. can you describe the type of people upstairs? were there still asian foreigners, muscleheads and undercover cops? has the patdown or the staff changed since the mainfloor is hiphop? or are they checking for guns now instead of drugs? seriously, what a waste of space to dedicate that main floor to hip hop. i have to admit, i kinda miss the cheesy snow fall they used to have.. but not enough to go back to that shithole!
  5. yeaps. refer to the "xanax in a blunt" thread. you can smoke it w/trees, or in a cigarette. for a cig, you just make a line of k, put the cig along it and suck the k in slowly and then shake it lightly to blend it into the tobacco. for the other stuff, you can sprinkle some in as you roll it/pack it. the feeling? it makes your lips tingly/numb. it slowly numbs your body. doesn't really kick you in the ass, don't expect to fall into a hole. just makes your body buzz. haven't done this in ages.
  6. this is possible, i don't think it's funny at all. it's possible because people may be emotionally instable to begin with and smoking brings out a lot of these problems. you know how some of you might get paranoid, confused or depressed when you smoke but then it disappears after you're done smoking? for some, it doesn't. smoking just enhances it and then makes them feel extremely uneasy for a long period of time. it's still a drug. just like some people shouldn't be drinking. some people aren't made to be smoking marijuana.
  7. i'm not gonna front. i had a difficult time attending your parties over the past 5 years and have avoided them, as i'm sure you've heard your share of gripes during the span of SOE. i remember when i first got into "the scene" there was always some dope party goin' on in NYC, whether it be from SOE, Uptown Underground, Park Rave Madness, Synergy!, Cousins, Caffeine, you name it. unfortunately over time, it quickly dwindled to just SOE. i will give respect where it's due. you guys tried to keep the rave culture alive in NYC, despite all the hardships this city has put up.
  8. I don't believe the people that say just a good DJ alone would bring them to a club. The perfect example: Exshit this past year. They were bringing in international DJs every weekend. Ferry Corsten, Marco V, DJ Scot Project, Deep Dish, you name it. Yet, every weekend that place was so fuckin empty you could feel the cool breeze coming in from the front doors.
  9. i agree, i posted this on the "what are people drinking these days" thread. i tried that incredible hulk drink. damn, tasted like motor oil with a dash of baby shit.
  10. check out his internet journal. his flow is aright, but his website sux ass! http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=hey_itz_nij
  11. i admit, it looks good if you got a head full of hair. it's the guys that don't have much hair that spike it up and you can see their scalp that makes me cringe. you then can see the beads of sweat forming on their scalp. nasty! also, don't over do on the products. a lil bit of messy, touchable hair is the most attractive.
  12. OUCH! that sounds like a great idea! you think that will be the next craze?
  13. someone mentioned the incredible hulk drink -- hypnotiq vodka and whiskey. awful. tasted like puke.
  14. i've actually read that using anti-aging cream when you're too young is not really good for your skin. there's a lot of ingredients in there that is not necessary for young ones. i'll see if i can dig up where i read this (most like in bazaar or allure). i would stick to just spf moisturizer, that's the best coverage you can use right now.
  15. simple: 1) wash with Cetaphil 2) put on Neutrogena SPF15 sensitive skin facial lotion 3) lip gloss, either Kiehls/Chanel/Lancome i'm very low maintenance. i never wear makeup and quite frankly i don't know how to!
  16. there is an archaic law called the cabaret law. apparently, no one took the initiative to get rid of it, and when guiliani was mayor, he took it upon himself to use this law against NYC nightlife. bloomberg continues to use it as well. basically, it states that without a cabaret license (which costs several thousand dollars and takes FOREVER to get unless you cough up more money to speed up the process) you cannot have more than 3 people shaking their ass. if you are caught by the undercover dance task force or any law enforcement officer that gives a shit, you will be fined several thousand dollars and possibly have your establishment shut down. it has been used against places like serafina in the past. some places enforce this law, some places do not. as for the smoking ban, it's the summertime so it isn't too bad right now. bars allow for people to smoke outside and clubs usually have an area outside of the club. yes, i do believe that the days of crazy, superclub parties are slowly disappearing. no more being cracked out in the basement of a dingy warehouse as a tranny tries to pinch your butt and a raver is busy rubbing vicks on his nuts. but there are many good cozy parties going on as long as you look. personally, i loved the PS1 parties (www.ps1.org) and there is a line of parties starting at the Cooper Hewitt Museum (kicking off with Dave Holland). have fun in nyc. it's here if you look carefully. check out the calendar here and other NYC clubbing sites for more info about good parties. i'd post the site i'm a mod on but CP won't allow me..
  17. i'll have to disagree with your statement here. there is no such thing as generic "US Hard House." what you just described is Chicago hard house -- DJ Bam Bam, Nemesis, DJ Irene, House o Holics (which used to also be found at the Tunnel upstairs). there is such a thing as New York hard house. this is the darker beats you would've heard at the Tunnel. a lil bit sexy at times, a lil bit tribal and a shitload of house. the one song that always comes to mind: "Ecstasy (Take your shirts off)" by Johnny Vicious. a clear NY hard house anthem.
  18. i don't necessarily agree with tanning at salons/often in the sun. i think it's harmful and there is nothing wrong with being your natural, god given skin color. personally, i don't want to have wrinkles on my skin and face when i am older. my mother is nearing 60 years old and she still doesn't have a single wrinkle anywhere. i'd like to keep looking young myself! i will tan if i am at the beach, but i don't go with the intention of tanning -- it is to play in the water and play sports on the beach. i hate the leathery, old look of tanning too much. i guess moderation is key. it's hard to think long term when we are all so young and we think we are invincible.
  19. no but i've had k in a blunt. my lips tingled. then i went to go play video games.
  20. the key is that if you are going to sit yo' ass down anywhere, wear shorts you dont mind getting a lil dirty. and a wifebeater!
  21. ecko, you definitely have the casual apparel/jeanswear covered from all aspects! seeing the market you are serving, do you carry accessories, bags, hats, jewelries? that might help with sales... like christian dior jewelry & bags, burberry hats, prada shoes. higher end goods, but not necessarily all of their product offerings. just the popular pieces. and how old are your typical customers? if it's younger kids, maybe you guys should look into more affordable lines of clothes?
