  1. I'm glad that you're going to change and that no one got hurt and all, but you really didn't need to sound so PROUD that you were able to lie your way out of this situation....
  2. You midunderstood me. I didn't say that the fact that they're willing to die for their country should allow them into the club... I said that if what they're wearing is good enough to die in (so that clubs like Locus, and superficial narrowminded people can continue to act, look, and live "fabulous") then why can't... oh wait, never mind... i just answered my own question didn't I? They can't get in because the uniforms aren't "fabulous", and because the powers that be at places like that are superficial, narrowminded people.
  3. I'm pretty sure that they weren't "ugly disheveled" sailors who "looked like shit". They were in the official uniform of the UNITED STATES NAVY. Military tradition says that they must always carry themselves befitting of THE UNIFORM. It's too bad that THE UNIFORM that these men and women would be proud to DIE in for their country isn't good enough to get into a club. Think about that PROFOUND thought.
  4. i'm guessing that it's too late to let you know, but my friend's throwing an Asian party there tonite... if you are (were) surrounded by more Asians than Exit there tonite, that's why... based on the Asian infatuation going around these days, i'll just assume that you won't mind... Hope you have (had) fun.
  5. They called too many stupid fouls and didn't call some other pretty (IMO) blatant fouls. Overall, I just got sick of hearing that whistle... COME ON, let me PLAY! That sign that that guy made saying "How can a nose foul an elbow" was hilarious. He must just carry a marker around whenever he goes to a game for JUST such an occasion.
  6. Just got back from the movie, didn't expect it to be as good as it was... kinda violent for the audience that it's aimed at but it's definitely worth seeing.... The kids in the theatre started getting antsy like an hour into it whenever there was dialogue. The animation was EXCELLENT... MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than Blade2 (which was like an episode of Batman Adventures that used to be on channel 11). 4 stars out of 5.
  7. 1. Would more people come out if the price of admission was lower? I don't know if i'd go to a party just b/c it was cheaper than the next. It's more like "oh wow, it's only $20 tonite, GREAT!" But a lower entrance fee WOULD give me the opportunity maybe hit up multiple clubs in one night. That would be a good thing. 2. Because of the economy, the stock market, lay offs and the 11th etc., has money become tighter in a sense that people are more selective as to the night or nights they go out clubbing? Yes and No. I have become more selective about the parties that i go to, but not because of the money issue. The whole scene in general is pretty stale right now. Before, I could pick any Friday/Saturday nite and find a great party somewhere, but it's hard to do that now. 3. Can a nightclub do well without promoters if the price of admission was lowered to a reasonable entrance charge? Like I said before, I wouldn't go to a party just b/c it's cheaper than the next. You need a REASONABLE number of promoters to help get the word out on your party, especially is you're looking for a select TYPE of persons to attend. It's like advertising on TV or the radio, you pick the station, channel, show, time slot appropriate for your product. Not to get too into this, but that's be like PIZZA HUT saying, "WE GOT PIZZA FOR $1!!!!!" and expecting people to run to PIZZA HUT for the $1 pizza w/o having ANY idea what kind it is. Same deal. Sure you'll get the few "WOW! a $1 PIZZA!" people, but ultimately, the goal of a club is to make money and those aren't the type of people you want in your club. ENOUGH on that topic. 4. What would be a reasonable charge if the price of admission was lowered? I remember when regular nites used to be $20 and then $15 on guestlist or sometimes even cheaper. I doubt that we'll ever see a decent sized party for less than $25 ever again. NOTE: this is for the larger commercial clubs only, I know a few parties that charge $5-$10 and you'll get GREAT MUSIC, NICE VIBE, etc.. etc.. 5. Has the industry become a runaway train in that every nightclub seems to grab on to the next trend by seeking out these international dj's that charge an absolutely insane fee. This insane fee forces the nightclubs to raise the price of admission where upon the end result is you the customer pays for it. Regardless of the cost to enter, would you still go? Simple economics my friend, SUPPLY AND DEMAND. If the people want them, and the last guy made a killing with "SAID DJ" then everyone and their grandma will run to catch the next CROWD PLEASER. As for me, it all depends on how much I like the DJ. If it's someone I really dig, then i'm there (i'll even pay the higher fee). 6. Who financially is effected more by high priced admissions...males, females or both? Not to be sexes or anything, but seriously, I usually see the guys covering the ladies at the door. But that's just from what I see. 7. What is a great night out...is it music driven or a social scene or a combination of both?.... If you owned a nightclub, what would you do that perhaps the curent club owners aren't? I usually found that good music brings out the best in people and everyone gets along great. If the music's bad, then I'll just try and strike up a conversation with someone random and see where it goes from there. Overall though, it's the music. The second part of this question is just, woah... TOO broad... i'll leave that up to the other people to write in. 8. What does "back to basics" mean to you? PLUR~~~ Seriously, none of this nonsene that I'm seeing in the rest of this thread... it HAS become a pissing contest with everyone claiming that they've been around for so and so years and used to go clubbing back in the day when so so club was the place to be. I'll be the first to admit that I used to be somewhat of a music snob, but hey, I won't get into an real serious arguements with you over it... i've got my tastes, and you've got yours. I'll try to convince you that you're wrong and I'm right, but that's how people are. To answer the question: RELAX. Music is supposed to be soothing to the soul, not make you want to curse and scream at each other. So once again i say, PLUR~~~~~~ hahah...
  8. you guys ever think about how often they change those gloves a nite? How many countless assholes has that finger been in? (not to mention the searching).
  9. Has there been a schedule of who is going to spin at what time posted yet? I doubt that i'll be there for the full 12 hours or anything, just want to make sure that I don't miss anyone that I'm going to hear...
  10. I heard that they forced the price of gas down right after Sept 11 to keep consumer confidence up... and now it's back to what it's supposed to be I guess... Just kind of a shock...
  11. Filter 14, Twilo supplement... Not a replacement... it'll hold ya over for a little while...
  12. I've done it twice so far, for Tiesto and Destination... I had some MINOR problems which got me a little shook up, but in the end it worked out. 1. The girl @ the Exit window couldn't find my envelope 2. There was no one working the clubplanet list @ Destination but the other girl took care of me after a while. i would think that if you had the receipt printed up with you name and an ID ready... you SHOULD be alright... but "shit happens".
  13. Nah, that's the old commercial. I guess you haven't seen it yet but sonic's right... it is Dirty Vegas - Days go by. The vocal part is something like "days go by and still i think of you... blah blah blah"
  14. haha... not that you would WANT one... but I was just driving along the West Side highway yesterday and I guess that's Jersey City across the water... So i'm thinking... Do i want a nice view and be close to the city? or to live in the city and have to look into Jersey?
  15. this is true, but i mean... so, the bartender should suffer by not getting tipped because YOU opted for a water instead of an alcoholic drink? If the bartender got to pick what you drank and they grabbed a water for you, THEN i could understand not tipping cuz that just means they're lazy.... but you picked water, and they had to get it for you.... *Something to think about*
  16. John Grisham The Brethren Recommended reading that's somewhat on the topic.
  17. have you ever seen a table of nine or so 12-16 year olds sitting in a resturant all having their own conversations about 1. The Back Street Boys 2. The cute new kid 3. The Back Street Boys 4. A cute bag they saw in the "MAWL" 5. The Back Street Boys 6. Being old enough to finally drive etc..... etc.... It's not a race thing... Obviously it's a Back Street Boy thing.
  18. Happy birthday to the brains behind the New Brunswick meet ups... gives us something to do around here every once in a while... props on the hard work and once again Happy Birthday man.
  19. Getting there around 12am should get you in the door fine... Oh yeah... and by 12am... i mean Thursday....
  20. Everyone has already weighed in on this... but I still have to say something.... "Shit Happens" I got there around 12 to find a crazy line of people which soon turned into a crazy mob of people as soon as one of the security guards made some sort of announcement for advance ticket holders to move up. BAD IDEA. I waited in the rain, the cold, and crowd, the confusion and worst of all the fishy smell. Had I not purchased my tickets in advance I honestly would have left. The security guard that seemed to be in charge of the line, the white guy with the hat on, was actually very friendly and wasn't really stressing too much about the whole situation. I finally got inside at around 1:45am. From the moment i stepped into my first puddle of water inside the tent to the moment I FINALLY got my jacket from the coat check, I could say only one thing to my friends.... "IT WAS SSSSSSOOOOOO WORTH IT". I realize that New York's become a VERY difficult city to throw a party in now a days and the weather wasn't exactly helping either, however based on what you wrote, you tried your best and like I said before man... SHIT HAPPENS... Personally, I think all the shit that we went through really weeded out those who would go there just to be there, and those who went knowing what they were there for. The vibe was EXCELLENT that nite. Despite what some other people might have to say about that nite... My friends and I consider that nite to be one of the greatest nites of partying ever. It was cold, it was wet, it was dirty, it was totally raw. This was the chance for people who claim that they're "THERE FOR THE MUSIC" to actually prove it. Cause that's all there was, the music. Bring it.
  21. ah... it's been a while since i've heard some intelligent humor... seems to be tough to find these days... thanx =)
  22. haha... i don't think that trick works when you TYPE it like that.. it's a visual trick...
