I was part of the Disco 2000/ Michael Alig scene back at the evil LimeLight. Let me tell you, it wasn't all drugs and costumes although it was also a big part if you wanted to delve into those waters. Between 3-4 AM till the LimeLight closed, only the hardcore peeps would remain and Keoki or Prozac would take us into another world. The lights would dim, the tourists would filter out, and the dancers would remain. Let me tell you, my friends and I wouldn't want to leave. Back then, Limelight would close normal hours-between 6-8AM. If you could look past the hoople surrounding that particular scene, you'd know that some serious dancing went down my friend. Trust me. I know. I was there. Still get chills from the wild times there and the relentless music.

If you're going to use a mic, use it wisely like DJ Colette. Sing damn it! And that's only if you have a nice voice.

Calling a DJ a prophet is a bit much. Now promoters are getting a bit crazy.

I thought they only play stadiums together.

I think that when people compare a new club with an old one, it is a bit odd. Just because a legendary club once existed there doesn't mean that if/when it reopens as a new name that it will be the same or better. When a club closes and the old DJ's leave it, and a new owner comes in, with new promoters, etc., it is now an entirely different animal. The Sound Factory is no longer there and neither is Twilo so put them to rest. There's still a church that's a club that was once called LimeLight that I frequented quite often back in da' day but you know what?; I've never been to Avalon. I used to love going to the Palladium but I've never been to the NYU dorms in there. You get the idea? The club on 27th is called Spirit and that's what it is so just don't expect the old days of yore to be rekindled there anytime soon. New name=new owners=whole new experience.

You've got enough pull to book a major act with over 2,000 people and you're asking us for help? Come on! If I was booking a major act, I don't think I'd rely on people I don't even know on a message board to help me out with my dilemma. And if you are booking this big band, then this band needs some major help and someone else as a back-up to assist them. Yikes!

I wasn't happy that one of the remixes uses a sample from 'Elements'. Why rehash an already classic with a new track? I've yet to sit down and really listen to all of the mixes of this track. Guess I'll do that once I finally buy it or if I buy it.

Jeff Mills is no joke. I love the way he just casually is fixing the pitch as he sorts out another record. Meanwhile, I'm scared to death of going off beat while mixing two records and he's doing three like nothing. Mills just earned new respect for me by the skills alone. I always knew about him and his impact he's had on Techno but I've never watched him live. A true perfectionist. One of the tracks he plays towards the middle of his set on the first site sounds like a track DT played at Ultra in NYC. I love it!

You remind me of BeetleJuice where he says, "I've seen the Exorcist 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier, everytime I see it!!"

It's official: I don't care.

So, it's worth renting? What was good about it? Does it have good footage of the clubs or a good soundtrack? I hope it's nothing like that horrible movie, "Groove".

What about DJ's?

Tourist is a loose term to mean people who are amateurs in the club scene. When these people are out in a club for the first few times, it's obvious because they just don't know how to carry themselves. You could be an out of towner and belong much more than a local due to your maturity and etiquette. That's what I meant by the term, "tourist".

That's almost as bad as going to Webster Hall. Tourists!! The weekends are pretty lame almost throughout the city unless you know of an underground party or low-key place. All the big or famous places are going to be filled with tourists and B & T. I remember when I used to go out back in the day to clubs in the city during the week. That's when you'll really meet some cool people and real New Yorkers. Otherwise, you're better off saving your money.

Maybe it's a little early but I just wanted to let you know about a place called Zen Lounge over in Teaneck. They have an open-turntables night and I'll be spinning there along with a friend on the 22nd of this month. It's kind of like you'll be getting two for the price of one but even better because it's free to get in! We'll both be spinning from the hours of 10PM-12Mid-nite. Why not come out and check the little place out. If you're also an aspiring DJ, you can also sign up to spin for another date. You can also check out the funky artwork throughout the place.
