  1. If anyone reads this before the end of Memorial Sunday, OPM's guest list for Sunday night has just hit 2000 people. Sunday will be the busiest night in history. If you want to get on the list, you really need to call asap. 702 358 6489
  2. Poor business practices, that's all I gotta say. Luckily OPM is so hot right now, the situation seemed to make no impact on the customers who turned out in droves last night (like every Thursday lately).
  3. You forgot a few (and these mcs are still selling records)... Jay-Z Ice Cube Method Man Biggie Pac Snoop Outkast Eminem
  4. This is a message board. People communicate using words in this forum. If someone participates without showing the ability to form an English sentence, then others will bash him or her. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't hate any of those people. That won't stop me from forming an opinion on their actions, regardless of what they accomplished 20 years ago.
  5. I don't believe anybody really cares how much money anyone else makes here. It's about earning respect among your peers before demanding it. If you come into a community and take shots at people, then people shoot back. It's human nature. And I respect the pioneers. The question is do they respect us? It seems the answer to that is often no, and that's what I take exception to. I remember a few months ago when Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were interviewed on BET. The host asked them which artists they felt were getting the job done today. Not one of them even seemed to know the name of a new current artist, except Grandmaster, who answered in a smart ass way. He said "only as a DJ, I gotta say mims." In other words, he wasn't giving props for anything except that the #1 song was liked by the people he plays music for in the club.
  6. Would you feel more comfortable in a tshirt and pumas if you were at a wedding reception? There's an expectation in Vegas that dudes dress up to go out. With that said most of the major clubs will let you slide if you're not a prick at the door and you bring more girls than dudes. The dudes who do wear tshirts usually know someone, bring lots of girls, or get lucky that the door guys didn't have a hard on that day. Your best bet is to go to any major spot except those run by Pure Management group (or OPM for that matter where you would have zero chance of entry however I don't believe that's your type of scene anyway).
  7. Things haven't really changed actually. The way I have always looked at it is that you take a chance that you're going to be abused at the door if you don't wear a nice collared shirt and a nice pair of shoes. If you know people here that helps so at least you have some ammunition. But if you're coming from out of town and going to spots that love to give dudes shit, why not just dress up a little and not worry about the possibilities of having to deal with headaches. And I personally don't understand why anyone would feel more comfortable going to a regular-hour upscale club in a tee and sneakers but that's just my opinion.
  8. Yeah things have been quite entertaining here. And while some of our finest do attempt to promote their local Vegas parties on other boards, like the NJ board for example (gotta hand it to them, good targeted marketing) it seems the best materials still do originate right here on the Vegas board.
  9. Pure from midnight to 1am Saturdays only. Always bring a group of guys to increase chances. Seriously though, I believe all the major clubs are willing to work with you if you wear a stylish designer t-shirt (try to avoid white) and have a good attitude at the door. Try to bring some females with you if possible. Tennis shoes or shorts are a bit harder. Body English is probably the top regular hours spot used to dudes wearing t-shirts. Just realize that especially on a busy weekend, wearing a t-shirt gives door guys even more ammunition to try to shake you down. Personally I don't feel its worth it.
  10. Club 702 on Flamingo
  11. I'm bringing my Serato so I can be like Kid Capri.
  12. I can't play at slide. Freeze may send out a press release and attribute the lyrics of the songs I play as statements representing the views of OPM Nightclub.
  13. Why Rain? It's like #8 on the hot list right now. But if you're set on going, Saturday is the night.
  14. Thursday is best night to hit Tao. Try the Wynn Buffet.
  15. It depends where you're going and how you're dressed. And Vegas is all about $$$ at the hot spots. Go to Pure on Saturday at midnight and I think you'll see what I mean. Anyway good luck. I hope it all works out.
  16. Best free advice is to call the clubs in advance and ask to be put on their guest list. Also come prepared with an extra $20 per person minimum to skip the lines. The VIP sections come with a price here when there are dudes involved. No way around that. And if you're looking to party on Friday/Saturday, you may find it difficult to solicit free favors when there are lines of tourists willing to pay for the same courtesies.
  17. Rum Jungle @ Mandalay Bay has a Latino music night on Wednesdays (you may not be in town for that). OPM Nightclub in the Forum Shops @ Caesars has the lock on urban Hip-Hop, Reggae, R&B... Wednesday through Sunday. If you don't mind mash-ups and more commercialized hip-hop mixed in with pop and rock, all of the major clubs play that in their main rooms over the weekend (Tao, Jet, Body English, Tryst, Pure, etc.)
  18. I am not representing DJs in this thread, we're not even talking about music or programming, nor did I claim to represent anyone. If anything I represent the typical thoughts of most door promoters in this thread. And none of the promoters I know have a high tolerance for people who think $10 is a rip off for a primetime weekend entry for dudes. Pointing this out is exactly what my livelyhood is based on, not justifying the giving away of a door just because 2 dudes think $10 doesn't justify the benefits of entry. You felt Empire's actions represented the "typical Vegas runaround" when in fact they went far over and above the standard reaction of laughing at you, going so far as to offer you half price which you still refused, and then you even felt the need to report it here because you were obviously so offended at the notion of paying to get in. Anyway it's obvious this has gone on long enough and I guess we should both let it go at this point. If you haven't learned something here, be prepared for some very dissapointing door experiences in this city. Best of luck to you too.
  19. Yes, we finally agree on something. You and your dude, both out of town guests, (no girls involved), felt you deserved to get in free at a prime Las Vegas nightspot on a weekend, and you both refused to support the spot by giving up a penny, even after being offered an almost unheard-of compromise of half price for DUDES! That, sir, is why I continue to call you a cheap-ass tool. No big deal. We can agree to agree You would never have the chance. OPM charges $30 per dude after midnight. And they would laugh at your demand for free entry. You could explain your costs and benefits all you want. Unlike Empire, OPM doesn't discount dudes even if you claim you are physically fit or whatever other argument you would probably try on them. In the meantime, all the nice ladies would pay their $20 without complaining, and would enjoy the phatty mctroll party while you and your dude walk back through Caesars, looking for ladies to buy you drinks. LMAO!
  20. LOL. You traveled all the way from Ice House to Empire but you didn't want to stay more than a minute? I'm curious, did you go to Empire with a lady? I'm sure she was really impressed when you said, "hmmm they are willing to let us in for half price at $10 each, however that doesn't meet my acceptable cost benefit requirements, I normally spend $550 at Jet, really I do, yeah sure, but I just can't justify the $10 date tonight, sorry babe, but I'm still a keeper right?" What a tool haha!
  21. LOL 7 posts and he's already calling another a noob lmao. In your own words you wouldn't have supported the event unless it was free. That is why I called you a freeloader. You probably showed up at Empire at 6am on a Saturday night and expected to enjoy a free all night guest list by some guy named Dave who assumed you weren't dumb enough to think a guest list has no time limitations for dudes. Instead you whined like a little bitch to the bouncers until someone just decided it wasn't worth dealing with your crying anymore, and they just gave you a pass. I'm sure you took good care of that bouncer (ya right) and the bartenders as well - oh wait did Dave tell you the drinks were free too? I'm just teasing you "noob." I always love it when people come here to rant about paying a whole $20 cover on a Saturday night and then act like Jodie Foster in The Accused.
  22. Being a freeloader aint easy. Supporting an event doesn't mean getting a bouncer to risk his job by giving away the promoter's door. That's called the cheap-ass tourist runaround.
  23. Just curious, how is refusing to accept passes from *another* venue giving you the typical Vegas runaround?
