  1. oi slag, fyi - I'm on the hunt for the l/d on tru-school. I've got a few feelers out there, have to wait a bit to see if anything comes back. Will keep you in the loop. d ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  2. what do you consider sober? no legal drugs? just no illegal drugs? just no e? on some levels I'm out sober many a time - start to scrutinize and there's always one chemical or another making binary finary sound a little finer. So the question is... how sober? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  3. got it. It's on groovilicious. Nice song. Need it? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  4. Last Friday at Twilo... Some really f'ed up girl, and ugly boy were getting all nasty in that back area to the right of the booth (where the steps go up into the corner). So the two of them "sneak" into the rather well lit nook that sorta leads behind the booth. Girlie sits on his lap, peels her pants to her knees, and strips her top off. She starts tugging at him then moves in with the little head bob. Then they switch off. for a bit. Both of them were really fucked up and it was a nasty scene. After when they came out, she was getting friendly with some other people... and when she started touching this other guy and shaking his hand, everyone at the back who witnessed the 'event' gave this big hoot - "dude, don't touch that hand!!!" it was sooo funny. That was a pretty fucked up thing to witness, and funny sitting there with a Twilo staffer, both of us just shaking our heads the whole time. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  5. If you listen closely to that song, you'll notice that the melody is lifted from Ace of Bass - It's a Beautiful Life. I love that track! ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  6. HOUSE - you are incorrect. The 1210's are a dual voltage version of the turntable, made for Europe where voltages vary between 120V/240V, and 50Hz/60Hz. My black turntables are clearly labelled 1200 MK 2, and are not voltage switchable. There is a difference, and it's not just the colour. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  7. first: black 1200's aren't necessarily 1210's. Mine are black, but are not dual voltage. second: 1210's sold here in North America have North Amercian plugs, but are dual voltage (switchable). short answer - yes you can get them. Where in NY? idunno. But they I've seen them in Toronto. that help? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  8. The above post is what I mean about differing definitions. Not that he's wrong about anything, but that's not how I would ever describe techno (or would anyone outside of NY). The music people outside of NY call techno (espcially detroit techno), generally gets lumped in with Tribal here (which I can understand, but don't agree with). It's fun to see how different people see different styles of music. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  9. I've found people around here have very strange definitions of Hard house, progressive house, and techno. I'm not going to get into it, but it makes me choke sometimes. ew well. d ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  10. On the topic of: Hardcore Happy Hardcore you can also add: Trance Core terrorcore gabber/gabba/rotterdam speedcore All these styles are super super fast, clocking in at 160 - 190 bpm, stuff like speedcore goes up over 200 - ew. (jsyk, house mostly clocks in at 115-130 bpm) Hardcore has a straight up 4/4 beat, often no backbeat, and is very dark, no vocals. Happy Hardcore is often a hybrid between Hardcore in the 4/4, and jungle with the syncopated breakbeat (often reserved for a breakbeat breakdown). This music is lyric driven, usually cheesy vocals. It's very common for producers to snag samples and vocals from hit 80's tracks - example Vinylgroover's countless remixes of Time by Cindy Lauper. Checkout www.hullabaloo-raves.com for a entire site/rave company dedicated to hhc. trancecore is just like what is sounds, trance at 160+ bpm. I love the stuff. It's the only trance I still find unique. gabber and the rest are just nasty - not very musical, more about speed and volume. But that's just my opinion, there are a LOT of people who really dig this stuff. All these styles are more specifically rave oriented vs. club oriented. I'll leave the other definitions up to someone more prepared for the inevitable flame war which always follows the definitions. Also beware that many style names have a different definition in NY than they do in other cities. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  11. that's becuase you can still puts pics in a post using, you just can't add them to your signature. When you edit a post, it does not re-insert your signature, it just re-posts the same text (that was in your original signature). So... by editing a post, the link to your image is no longer part of the signature but is now part of the post. anyone follow me? ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  12. uh-oh Kittie also makes a strong point. I'll have to admit, when for some reason I don't tip a bartender, and they bitch about paying their bills, I always feel they should have thought of that before they became bartenders. I didn't go to University and get a good education and job just to make up for other people's lack of ambition. At they same time, they are providing a service and get shit on all the time by people who think just that. What can I say... we walk a tightrope everytime. Ah, the politics of clubbing. ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com

  20. Not sure if you caught this in the other thread so I thought i'd give it to you here. Long typed - here's the detailed review for last Friday: What can I can. I was stunned. Aquaviva was a super starter. He kept it quiet, and tech-funky. He really eased people into the night. I was enjoying his styles, but you could tell he knew his place in the lineup. Richie's appearance at the decks was met with hoots and hollars. And he started off pretty tame. A little 1/2 hour warmup before he dropped the shit. from 2:30 and for about 45 minutes it was a 909 tech-trance onslaught. Now, I define it as tech-trance because he was dropping a lot of repeating echoing accents and basslines in with the 909 that gave everything a real spaced out feel to it. It's a sound I really dig (which is why I enjoyed Mills so much - very similar through that part of the night). I was in a freekin zone. Then he left everyone at the station. A little after the 3, the efx dropped out all together and the music got fierce and unrelenting. Hard hard techno, all snares and hats, no music, just death on a drum machine. I was flowed with it for the first 15 mins, then he lost me. I think he was slowly losing much of the crowd before he backed off and added a bassline again. At around 4 or so things kinda levelled out. He was having trouble with one of the turntables and flew solo on the 909 while the techs took care of that. With the problem fixed, he started the havoc again, this time dismantling anthems left and right. He hypnotized the entire crowd with a drawn out and re-engineered on the fly version of How's Your Evening so Far. Take a song with an already killer bass drop, and multiply by 3 - ouch! (he actually drew the drop in the middle of the track out for 3 minutes - unreal) He peaked for an entire 45 minutes, splitting songs in two with long efx loops, pulling rewinds drops back into the same track. FUcK it was too much for the head. He spun the night out with real airy pieces, with a trancey feel but no overbearing emotional quality. More like filler sounds that he would keep spilling the most unexpected snare loops into which would progress out than back into nothing. What can I say? Hands down the best techno I've ever heard at Twilo. That was one for the record books. phew d ------------------ cold spoonin' on this lovely autumn day spoonyd.iwarp.com
  21. The last time he was at Twilo was pretty outrageous. He played his standard mixed bag style. Wide range from house to techno to breaks, he even dropped in jungle (no shit). It was really good. Not over the top great, but a wonderfull snack. ------------------ It's difficult these days, to get good grass -wubble u spoonyd.iwarp.com
  22. it's a fierce sound that sticks in my brain. I just realised how stupid it sounded trying to explain it in text so gave up. I think B2B understands what I'm talking about. Now I dare someone to explain speed garage. ------------------ keep it cutlary www.spoonyd.iwarp.com
