  1. well, the health nut thing is blown so out of proportion that i'd say it's bordering on a myth. l.a. is the us's capital of fast food, hands-down. pink's, a famous hot dog joint, has a long and winding line even at 2 a.m. and i've only met one person who surfs in all the time i've lived here (from '95-'99, and '01-present). but the weather is great here for skateboarding all year round, and there are places to do it everywhere. the weather is reason enough to love and live in l.a. but what else do i love about both l.a. and the state of california? - the friendly people - the relaxed, "it's all good", zen kind of attitude - the diversity - great food (not just the fast , although in-n-out's burgers are unparalleled) - the commitment to the arts (at least in l.a., dunno about everywhere else) - the beautiful coast - it's a huge state: redwoods, mountains, deserts, beaches, nat'l parks... - san diego zoo - sham-fucking-u! - disneyhoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the happiest place on earth) there's more, but i'll leave off here, for now .
  2. it's interesting that someone revived the "new york v. l.a." thread today, 'cause it's very much related to what i was gonna say here . (i can't access that thread, though, 'cause cp's all messed up, so i don't know what was said.) arguing over what city (or region, country, etc.) is better than which other is pointless, as no one on either side will change his/her opinion, and it gets to be either aggravating or just plain tiresome. why waste the time and energy ? tune in tomorrow.
  3. hmmm. not exactly a clarification.
  4. guilty of loving mail or sending it?
  5. seriously, spundae is tamer than tame. i have never witnessed a sale firsthand in all the times i've been, and i've only seen people who were jacked up, not getting jacked up. and, in all my visits to the spundae bathrooms, i've never seen a girl getting sick. while that doesn't look as significant in print as it is, at least rethink that last statistic... think of it this way: if anyone reading this ever went to twilo, remember various drug containers on the floor of the club. remember people doing lines in full view. i was only there twice (once each in 1996 and in 2001) and i saw this. i was at arena a couple of months ago (la pietra's other club, a few hundred feet from circus, where spundae's held) and remarked to my friend that i would take my own mom there. while spundae may have a few more people looking a little jacked up on the sidelines, that's where they are, and there are few enough of them that they can fit there. if mama wants to go next time she visits, i'll proudly bring her .
  6. as much as i hate it when people wear them in clubs, wearing sunglasses in the 80s was cool anywhere, anytime.
  7. it's true, some types of smileys can be clique-y, but that sneaky, punk lurker doesn't seem to be trying very hard...

    Sweats Or Dressed

what do you think about guys who wear sweatpants without underwear?
  11. my friend and her boyfriend had gotten to the point in the relationship when they felt ready to have sex. unfortunately, the 6' 4" guy had a humungous penis to match - too big for the magnum condoms. my 5' 4" friend said they went through a whole box of 12 trying to get one on, so we went to a duane reade and we looked for another brand that was bigger. while we were discussing this in the drugstore and finding that there were no bigger condoms, some college boy eavesdropping nearby interrupted us and told my friend that it was impossible for anyone to be too big for those. the look of miserable defeat on his face was just ridiculous :worry2: . my friend and her guy ended up never doin' it, 'cause my friend eventually just got too scared .
  12. thanks, linabina! i love playing with paint ! (i'm not being sarcastic)

  15. so, i have no social life, and i guess i've gotten used to it. i think i've gone out to clubs less than 10 times this year. it's 'cause i have no money, but when other people hear that, i think they figure i'm just being cheap. but i spend more than i make, and have only gotten by by getting some tax refunds (2) at two good times. then people have said to me, "you've just gotta manage your money better." but, as i've said, i stay home all the time, don't even go out to eat or to the movies. i haven't bought any clothes since i've moved back to l.a. but i couldn't really figure out why it was so bad till i actually looked at the numbers on my stat sheet from work (i don't know why i never thought to look before). this year, i have made less than $17,000. it is impossible to live off of this and own a car (insurance and f'in maintenance ) - which is a necessity in l.a., and live as far from work as i do (gas), etc. and i have made more than 4 times that much money for my company. today alone, i made over $2,300 in sales. i find it criminal that minimum wage is lower than what i make. i need a new job, i need money; something's got to give .
